In order to guarantee the durability performance of vehicle suspension component, the criterion for design and evaluation based on service loading condition are necessary. In this study, it was established durability evaluation criterion under Chinese service condition for SUV suspension system. The main parameters causing system failure were founded through the analysis of failure examples. The loading condition including the parameters was measured from the vehicle test on Chinese public road over 16,000㎞. The measured data was used to make the durability evaluation criterion by extrapolation method based on Chinese operating profile. To increase reliability of test, 1% severe driver conditions and risk factor was adapted into the test target. The 10-step block program test signal was designed to evaluate the durability of Chinese type SUV suspension system.

The IO-step block program test signal was designed to evaluate the durability of Chinese type semi-active suspension system. To prove reliability of the rig test, the road durability test with taxi was performed and the results from road test and rig test were compared.

Damping shims are broadly used for the purpose of reducing the squeal noise of disc brake systems. Although the<br/> effects of the damping shims are well known practically, the analytical studies have not been carried out sufficiently.<br/> In this paper, we conducted the complex eigenvalue analysis of the finite element model of a brake system with<br/> several kinds of damping shims and investigated the effects of damping shims in variation of their material properties<br/> and contact conditions. Automobile horn``s psychoacoustic characteristic and significance as anaturalistic signal of danger makes it a valuable auditory stimulus to study such psychophysiological responses as startle, orienting and defense reactions. However, comparison and differentiation of physiological responses to commercially available horns is a complicated task due to small contrast of technical features of horns and influence of such processes as habituation on physiological outcome with increased number of auditory stimulation trials. In the study on 10 college students we performed comparative analysis of tonic and phasic reactivity of physiological responses mediated by autonomic nervous system in order to identify role of habituation and decrement of autonomic responsivity, as well as possibility to differentiate subjectively most and least preferred and subjectively more appropriate horns according to physiological manifestations. It was showed that electrodermal and cardiovascular reactivity have concurrent patterns of adaptation to repeated stimulation, namely skin conductance variables habituated, cardiac reactivity failed to show signs of habituation, while vascular component of response were facilitated demonstrating marked sensitization. Differentiation of Physiological responses to horns with respect to their subjective rating scores was possible, however electrodermal reactivity was effective only at the first block of trials, while phasic and tonic cardiovascular reactivity differentiate responses during whole course of experiment. There are discussed possible autonomic mechanisms involved in mediation of observed results.

Recently automotive company demands supplier to provide goods as a module unit, Automotive company presents some requirements for a modular assembly and supplier delivers modules satisfying those requirements. This trend requires the development of methods to predict the performance of modules in the vehicle environment. The development of assembled analytical models that reflect the interactions between components within a modular assembly is necessary to insure that a module is properly designed. This paper describes the construction of the finite element model to investigate the structural requirements for Damper Spring Module(DSM) as installed in a McPherson strut front suspension. The analytical model is constructed as the 1/4 car. The modeling techniques to construct the components within DSM are presented. Results of the structural analysis under some loading conditions are displayed. Additionally, some aspects to be observed in the assembly model are considered.
