A Modified HE Technique to Enhance Image Contrast for Scaled Image on Small-sized Mobile Display

This paper proposes the modified image contrast enhancement technique for small-sized display of mobile handset. Sample images are user interface images. in which scaled up wVGA(800×480) from qVGA(320×240) that we can see easily in mobile handset. The display size of mobile handset is relatively small, so the goal of this paper is to simplify image contrast enhancement algorithm based on conventional HE (Histogram Equalization) algorithm and improve computational effectiveness to minimize power consumption in real hardware IC. In this paper, we adopt HE technique, which is classical and widely used for image contrast enhancement. At first, the input frame image is partitioned to temporal sub-frames and then analyzes gray level histogram of each sub-frame. In case that the analyzed histogram of some sub-frames deviates so much from reference level (it means that the sub-frame image components consist of too bright ones or dark ones), apply DHE(Dynamic Histogram Equalization) algorithm. In the other case, apply classical Histogram Linearization (or Global HE) algorithm. Also we compare the HE technique with gamma LUT (Look-Up Table) method, which is known as the simplest technique to enhance image contrast.

Digital Manufacturing is a technology to facilitate effective product developments and agile productions by digital environments representing the physical and logical schema and tile behavior of real manufacturing system including manufacturing resources, processes and products. A digital factory as a well-designed and integrated environment is essential for successful applications of this technology. In this research, we constructed a sophisticated digital factory of an automotive company's general assembly shop by measuring and 3-D CAD modeling using parametric methods. Specific parameters of each objects were decided by object-oriented schema of the general assembly shop. It is expected that this method is very useful for constructions of a digital factory, and helps to manage diverse information and re-use 3D models.

Virtual Manufacturing is a technology facilitating effective development and agile production via digital computer models representing physical and logical schema and th behavior of the real manufacturing systems including manufacturing resources, environments and products. For the successful application of this technology, a virtual factory as a well-designed and an integrated environment is essential. In this paper, we constructed the sophisticated virtual factory of a Korean automotive company's body shop by 3-D CAD and simulation modeling, and conducted precise simulations of unit cell, lines and the whole factory for the collision check and the off-line programming. We expect that this virtual factory of the body shop helps us achieve great savings in time and cost for many manufacturing preparation activities of the new car development processes.

To achieve rapid new car developments and cost saving, new approaches for automotive general assembly in manufacturing preparations are needed. In this paper, CAD and DMU technologies fur design and evaluation of machines and equipments are discussed. Digital Mock-up based on 3-D CAD models usually apply in the area of concept design and design review. We focus on manufacturing preparations of machine and equipment in this paper, and suggest procedure, some examples and considerations of DMU. By applying DMU in the manufacturing preparations of general assembly, time, cost and quality of engineering can be enhanced through engineering collaborations
