Since 1960s. con tamer shipping volume has increased dramatically and continuous on a trend of rapid growth, and so the number of containers handled at the port increases In order to improve yard crane operating efficiency, the precise position measurement of the yard crane is important. This paper describes the method to measure the absolute position of yard crane using the output pulse of an encoder and infrared sensors. The crane position is calculated by counting the output pulse of an incremental encoder, which is mounted on the wheel in the crane By the way, the wheel slippage on rail may cause some errors in crane position information obtained from encoder pulses, and the errors in the crane position information are compensated with infrared sensors. The performance of proposed method is verified on experimental results with the simulator of yard crane, the size of which is about 1/10 with the real crane.

In this paper, the low-cost drive circuit of dc motor for a multipurpose small-size electric vehicle is developed. In order to change smoothly the rotating direction of dc motor for traction, the operating sequence of both the field current and the armature voltage according to the angle of a pedal of vehicle is suggested. The simulation study is carrier out to verify the proposed method, and the control system is implemented with 8-bit AVR.

The TRIAC has been widely used for controlling the piston, because It has simple structure<br/> However, as it is able to control only stator voltage, It is very difficult to obtain good efficiency. Recently, PWM Inverter which is able to control the voltage as well as the frequency, is applied to linear compressor drive system to overcome above problem<br/> In This paper, the variations for efficiency and power factor of linear compressor are investigated by changing both the mechanical resonant frequency and electrical resonant frequency of linear compressor, and also the inverter frequency. The optimum relationships between both resonant frequencies and the inverter frequency is derived in order to obtain the maximum efficiency and also good power factor

In this paper, the techniques for implementing the dashboard functions of a SHEV bus are development by using a touch panel. The algorithms for controlling linearly the angle of each gauge according to the measured sensors values. The hardware technique presentation and the development for implementing the On/Off information of each telltale lamp in the touch panel. The system is implemented by the 32-bit DSP, and it is installed and tested on the real SHEV bus. Also on/off switching status of all telltale lamps cab be investigated through the touch panel.

This paper proposed a method for controlling the active power of a single-phase grid-connected photovoltaic(PV) system by the quasi-Z-source inverter (QZSI). The MPPT of PV array is achieved by adjusting a shoot-through time of QZSI. The PI+R controller is used for reducing the steady-state error of the grid current. The simulation studies are carried out to verify the performances of proposed system.

This paper proposed a control strategy for flywheel energy/recovery system with induction machine. The system is based on a vector controlled induction machine driving a flywheel and address the problem of regulating the DC-Link system voltage against input power shut-down. And we proposed the method to damp the oscillation of DC-Link. Experimental results are presented which verify the performance of the strategy.

The LC filter has been generally used to filter the output voltage of PWM inverter to the sinusoidal waveform. The resonant voltage on the output voltage of PWM inverter may be generated due to LC filter. This paper proposed the algorithm to damp the resonant voltage using the virtual resistor without decreasing the efficiency by the power loss in the real resistor. The method is appled to the vector controlled induction motor driven by the PWM inverter with the LC filter. The simulation results are carried out to verify the performances of the proposed algorithm.

This paper proposes a simple starting method to arrange the rotor position of the blushless DC motor (BLDC) without additional sensors and any information of motor parameters. Both the stator current and time period for arranging the rotor position can be easily adjusted by modulating a pulse width of switching devices. Using the proposed method, it is demonstrated experimentally that the BLDC starts up very smoothly.
