        심하게 위축된 하악골의 완전 무치악 환자에서의 수직 골신장술을 이용한 임플란트 치료

        Objectives : It is difficult to place implants at a severely atrophied edentulous mandible because of vertical and horizontal alveolar defect. The autogenous and allogenic bone graft and guided bone regeneration are useful, but there are some limitations such as the resorption and infection of the grafted bone, and insufficiency of soft tissue. Distraction osteogenesis has recently evolved a challenging technique to overcome major draws of conventional augmentation procedures, we, therefore, report the four applications of implant placement after vertical alveolar distraction osteogenesis. Patients and Methods : Four patients(all female, mean age: $60{\pm}6$ years) with severe alveolar ridge deficiencies at their anterior mandible were treated with vertical alveolar distraction osteogenesis by intraoral device(Track 1.5, 15 mm model, KLS Martin, Tuttlingen, Germany) and placement of implants (Branemark MK III, TiUnite). After the latency periods of 5, 7, 8 days, distraction rhythm and rate were $0.5\;mm{\times}2\;times/day$ in the case of good bone quality, and $0.25\;mm{\times}3\;times/day$ in the case of poor bone quality. After consolidation periods of mean fifteen weeks, five implants for each patients were placed at the interforaminal area. Results : On average, a vertical gain of $11.38{\pm}1.38\;mm$ was obtained by distraction. And all distraction zone showed complete ossification by panoramic radiography. There were no postoperative complications other than numbness of lower lip in one case. Total twenty implants in four patients were placed and their outcomes were satisfactory. Conclusion : It is a useful method to place five implants after vertical distraction osteogenesis of the severely atrophied mandible for the implant-supported fixed prosthesis.

        Potamotrygon motoro, also known as the Marble motoro, is a potamodromous freshwater ray native to the basins of the Amazon River. Marble motoros were introduced to South Korea in the 2000s, and, because they are easy to raise, were sold as aquarium fish. The aim of this report is to illustrate a new case involving envenomation by a Marble motoro. A 35-year-old commercial aquarium assistant came to the hospital after being pricked by a Marble motoro. The clinical picture in this case showed acute local pain with minimal systemic manifestations. This patient recovered after receiving symptomatic treatment and wound care. This case of envenomation accentuates the potential for injury among people coming in contact with a venomous Marble motoro.

        Palladium 촉매를 이용한 5-Norbornene-2-carboxylic Acid Esters의 부가 중합

        Palladium(II) 촉매를 이용한 norobornene carboxylic acid estsers의 중합 시 단량체의 알킬 작용기의 종류, endo/exo 비율이 촉매의 활성도 및 중합 특성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. Norbornene esters 단량체는 5-norborene-2-carboxylic acid와 다양한 알코올을 반응시켜 합성하였다. 중합 촉매로는 di-μ-chloro-bis(-methoxybicyclo[2,2,1]-hept-2-ene)palladium(II)(DCBMP)를 합성하여 사용하였고, 짝음이온으로 실버 헥사플루오로안티모네이트(AgSbF6)를 이용하였다. 고분자의 분석을 위해 젤 투과 크로마토그래피(gel permeation chromatography, GPC), 열 중량 분석법(thermogravimetric analysis, TGA), 시차주사 열량측정법(differential scanning calorimetry, DSC), 화학구조 분석을 위해 <SUP>1</SUP>H NMR spectroscopy를 이용하였다. 분자량 분석 결과 모든 작용기의 경우 endo-이성체의 비율이 exo-이성체의 비율보다 높을 경우 촉매의 구조적 방해로 인하여 반응성이 감소됨을 보였다. 또한 단량체와 촉매의 비율이 중합 거동에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위해 단량체와 촉매의 몰비율을 100:1, 200:1, 300:1로 변화시켜 실험을 진행하였으며, 이 때 exo-norbornene carboxylic acid octyl ester의 경우 300:1 촉매비에서 필름형성이 가능한 높은 분자량(Mn=27500 g/mol)의 고분자를 합성할 수 있었다. The effects of chemical structure of alkyl groups of norbornene carboxylic alkyl esters(methyl, octyl, 4-chlorobenzyl) and endo/exo ratios of norbornene monomers on activity of palladium catalyst and polymerization behavior were investigated. Norbornene ester monomers were synthesized from the reaction of 5-norborene-2-carboxylic acid and various alcohols. Polymerization catalyst, di-μ-chloro-bis(-methoxybicyclo[2,2,1]-hept-2-ene)palladium(II) (DCBMP), was synthesized according to the literature procedure and silver hexafluoroantimonate (AgSbF6) was used as a conjugate anion source. Gel permeation chromatography (GPC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were the principal techniques for polymer characterization and <SUP>1</SUP>H NMR spectroscopy was used for chemical structures determination of monomers and polymers. For all of the norbonene alkyl esters GPC data showed that when the amounts of endo isomers exceeded those of exo isomers decreased molecular eight polymers were obtained probably due to the decreased catalyst activity. Polymerizations were conducted by varying the monomer/catalyst mole ratios (100:1, 200:1, 300:1). When 300:1 monomer/catalyst ratio was employed it was possible to synthesize high molecular weight (Mn=27500 g/mol), film forming polymer from exo-norbornene carboxylic acid octyl ester.

        Generation of Transgenic Rice without Antibiotic Selection Marker through Agrobacterium-mediated Co-transformation System

        작물의 수확량이나 병 저항성을 증가시키는 형질전환 식물체 개발은 세계 식량 부족을 해결하는 좋은 방법이다. 하지만 항생제나 제초제의 사용은 형질전환 작물의 안전에 대해서 일반 사람들의 심각한 우려를 초래한다. 본 연구에서는, 아그로박테리움을 이용한 동시 형질전환 방법을 이용하여 한국의 밀 재배종인 ‘조경밀’의 유전자인, 고분자 글루테닌 서브유닛[high molecular-weight glutenin subunit (HMW-GS)] Dx5가 삽입된 마커프리 형질전환벼를 개발하였다. 각각 Dx5 유전자와 하이그로마이신(HPTII) 저항성 유전자만으로 구성된 두 종류의 발현 카셋트(Two expression cassettes)를 독립적으로 아그로박테리움 EHA105에 도입하였고, Dx5와 HPTII가 도입된 각각의 EHA105 아그로박테리움을 3:1 비율로 혼합하여 벼 캘러스에 접종하였다. 66개의 HPTII 저항성 형질전환체 중에서 벼 게놈에 Dx5와 HPTII가 모두 삽입된 2개의 형질전환 라인을 획득하였다. Dx5와 HPTII가 벼 게놈에 도입된 것을 Southern blot을 통해서 다시 확인하였다. 또한, semi-quantitative RT-PCR을 통해 형질전환벼 T1 세대 종자의 밀 Dx5 전사여부를 확인하였고 결국, Dx5 유전자만을 가지는 마커프리 형질전환벼를 T1 세대에서 선발할 수 있었다. 본 연구 결과는 두 종류의 발현 카셋트를 사용한 아그로박테리움 동시 접종 시스템이 마커프리 형질전환벼를 생산하기 위한 효과적인 전략이 될 수 있음을 보여준다. Development of transgenic plant increasing crop yield or disease resistance is good way to solve the world food shortage. However, the persistence of marker genes in crops leads to serious public concerns about the safety of transgenic crops. In the present paper, we developed marker-free transgenic rice inserted high molecular-weight glutenin subunit (HMW-GS) gene (Dx5) from the Korean wheat cultivar ‘Jokyeong’ using Agrobacterium-mediated co-transformation method. Two expression cassettes comprised of separate DNA fragments containing only the Dx5 and hygromycin resistance (HPTII) genes were introduced separately into Agrobacterium tumefaciens EHA105 strain for co-infection. Each EHA105 strain harboring Dx5 or HPTII was infected into rice calli at a 3: 1 ratio of EHA105 with Dx5 gene and EHA105 with HPTII gene expressing cassette. Then, among 66 hygromycin-resistant transformants, we obtained two transgenic lines inserted with both the Dx5 and HPTII genes into the rice genome. We reconfirmed integration of the Dx5 and HPTII genes into the rice genome by Southern blot analysis. Wheat Dx5 transcripts in T1 rice seeds were examined with semi-quantitative RT-PCR. Finally, the marker-free plants containing only the Dx5 gene were successfully screened at the T1 generation. These results show that a co-infection system with two expression cassettes could be an efficient strategy to generate marker-free transgenic rice plants.
