We evaluated the recently introduced DiaSys (DiaSys Diagnostic systems Intemational, Gennany) reagents for the routine chemical tests and compared with the reagents used in Chllllgbuk National University Hospital. We analyzed 15 items for the evaluation of precisions, linearities and recovery rates. The comparison study between the current reagents used in Chllllgbuk National University Hospital and DiaSys reagents were also performed for those items. The linearities were good in all items, and the recoverγ rates were acceptable results. The coefficients of variation (CV) of within-run and total precision were less than 5% in all items. The correlation analysis revealed good results in most items, except calcium showing the correlation coefficient of 0.9551. DiaSys reagents for the routine chemical tests showed good precisions, linearities, recovery rates and correlations with the currently used reagents. We conclude that these reagents are suitable to the substitute for the currently used reagents.

This study was carried out to investigate the effects of drinking, smoking and exercise on homocysteine, folate and the C reactive protein in patients with coronaη artery disease. A total of 50 subjects (male; 37, female; 13) with coronary artery disease was assigned to patient group. The normal control group consisted of 33 subjects (male; 21, female; 12) without a history of metabolic or cardiovascular disease. Body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, and concentration of bl∞d homocysteine, fl이ate, C-reactive protein (CRP) , and lipids were analyzed to determine the effect of drinking, smoking and exercise on those parameters related to coronary artery disease. Concentrations of CRP (p<0.001), total cholesterol (p<0.001), triglyceride (p<0.OO5), HDLcholesterol (p<0.OO2) and LDL-cholesterol (p<0.04) were significantly higher in the patient group. It was also shown that one of either homocysteine, folate, or CRP levels has a direct relationship with habit. Among the three habits, smoking played the worst role in folate and CRP levels in the patient group. Homocysteine and CRP (p<0.001) concentrations were increased and the folate concentration (p<0.05) was decreased in the smoking group. These results suggest that smoking makes matters of coronary artery disease worse; therefore, it would be critical for patients with coronary 따teη disorder to quit smoking.

This study was carried out to evaluate the stability of commercial lyophllized control meterials being used for clinical chemical test and to investigate the substitutivity of a pooled serum prepared in our laboratory for those materials.Five sets of commercial lyophllized control meterials including normal and abnormal levels were obtained from five different manufacturers and stored under different conditions of storage(r∞m temp., refrigeration at 60C or freezing at 20C). πley were analyzed together with a pooled serum by Hitachl 7150 automated chemisσy analyzer and NOV A4 + electrolyte analyzer for the determination of 20 clinical chemical parameters and 3 electrolytes. The CV of within-batch, inter-batch and between-day in the precision analysis were below 1.3, 1.6 and 4.6%, respectively. It was revealed that total protein, albumin, creatinine, BUN, total cholesterol and TG were stable and their CV was less than 5% whlle total and direct bilirubin were unstable at room temperature and uφn light exposure with CV of 0.8 - 27.5 %. ALP at room temperature was also unstable. It was also revealed that pooled serum has no significant difference from those commercial control materials. The results above suggest that pooled serum could be used as a substitute for the commercial control materials with low cost.
