This paper proposes a near-field RFID reader antenna based on a loop. The proposed antenna consists of a loop loaded with inductors and resistors, a top ground plane for adjusting the far-field gain, a balun and a metal housing. The near magnetic field is generated by a loop consisting of a circular wire and two orthogonal linear wires. Four inductors are placed on the loop to reduce the loop size and four resistors are used to obtain an impedance matching and to control the near magnetic field strength. A ground plan is placed around the loop to reduce the far-field gain of the antenna. A special balun structure is employed to reduce the radiation from the feeding coaxial cable. The loop and the feeding coaxial cable are placed in a metal housing to produce the near magnetic field only in the region just above the antenna. The antenna is optimally designed using a commercial software, then fabricated and tested. The fabricated antenna has a reflection coefficient less than -10dB over 903-921MHz, a far-field gain of -14.5dB, an H-field of 0.38A/m at 40mm above the antenna surface and a tag read distance up to 630mm when a power of 25dBm is supplied to the antenna.

Dual-polarized reflector antennas are used in such applications as radar, radiometer, space radio observation, and communication. In this paper, a dual-polarized reflector antenna feed is proposed that employs crossed dipoles. The proposed feed consists of a cylindrical cavity, printed crossed dipoles and parasitic element, microstrip feed lines and baluns, and coaxial probes. Major design parameters of the feed are dipole length, dipole distance from the ground plane, dipole feed point, length and location of the parasitic dipole. An optimum design is obtained from the change of feed reflection coefficient versus design parameters of the feed. The designed feed has been fabricated and its characteristics have been measured. Measurements have shown that the proposed feed has reflection coefficient of less than -10dB and isolation of greater than 25dB -10dB beamwidth of 133° and 145° in E- and H-planes respectively at 1.9~3.0GHz.

This paper presents a small power divider for conformal array antennas on artillery projectiles. The proposed power divider distributes the power supplied to a 50Ω coaxial cable to 50NΩ coaxial outputs placed on the circumference of a circular printed circuit board. The proposed power divider has a structure where the input cable is connected to each output cable with a quarter-wave stripline impedance transformer with a characteristic impedance of 50 √NΩ. A via hole is utilized to connect the coaxial cable with the stripline. Parallel plate waveguide modes are suppressed by using grounded via holes around the stripline. The proposed structure is applied to the design of 1:2, 1:3 and 1:4 power dividers. A 1:2 power divider is fabricated to verify the validity of the design. Measurements show that the fabricated power divider has a bandwidth of 117% at S-band and a transmission coefficient of -3.10dB and -3.28dB at the center frequency.
