The education of building services field at university is not enough, although the field has become to be very important in architectural engineering. This lack of education is one of the reason that the level of domestic building services field is lower than that in developed countries. Present conditions of related laws, fields of work after graduation and education at university in building services field have been studied, and education conditions have been investigated divided into four-year architectural engineering course and five-year architecture course. Though building services field has become more important at university education, the number of credits and professor of the field is still small than other fields of architectural engineering. More practical curriculums are necessary to meet the expectation of companies, and it will be one of the method to meet it that criteria of curriculum constitution is according to ABEEK(Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea) in more architectural engineering department.

The purpose of this paper is to review the recent progress in indoor thermal environment field, and to offer the significant information for the establishment of research subject. Referred papers have been appeared in related journals (international, Korean and Japanese) which was published in 2006 and 2007. Various methods such as field measurement, climate chamber and simulation have been used, and a few studies about development of thermal manikin have been performed for indoor thermal comfort researches. The HVAC systems such as under floor air conditioning and individual air conditioning have been developed for improving indoor thermal comfort. The researches of utilizing passive control method such as double skin has been carried out. And estimating the thermal sense of whole or partial body have also been studied. The researches which is introduced in this paper could contribute to improve indoor thermal comfort and energy saving.

With the architectural energy saving technique such as building insulation, airtightness etc., changing the indoor temperature and shortening the air conditioning time etc. are the good methods to practice energy saving in our lives. This study aims to seek a way to realize energy saving under investigation through a questionnaire survey about energy consumption condition and energy saving perception. 93% of the respondents recognized the need for energy saving, and 67% said more energy saving would possible in homes. Viable energy saving way was questioned by five steps method. More than 50% responded "possible" or "seems possible" at most of the items. Whereas less than 50% responded "possible" or "seems possible" at the items of "lessening the cooling time" and "lessening the shower time". Ages of 50s who responded "possible" or "seems possible" was relatively less compared to 30s and 40s.

There are many defect occurrences in building equipment system, because the components of the system runs consistently. This study aims at quality assurance and cost reduction of apartment houses by analyzing defect and suggesting improvement. Investigation was carried out by field diary paper of K construction company"s customer support department. First, second and third year apartment houses after completion was subject to investigation, and the number of the apartment houses were 4,021. Investigation was performed about all parts of construction classification, but this study reports only about building equipment system. Assuming that defect occurrences ratio of first year apartment houses is 100%, its ratio of second and third year apartment houses are 89% and 26%. This means that many defects occur in first and second year after completion. Lots of defects occur at plumbing part, especially at joint of toilet and faucet appliance. Defect occurrences have to be reduced for improving the image and saving the additional construction cost of the company, and many skilled workers and high quality equipments are necessary for this purpose.
서멀마네킹(thermal manikin) 주변 자연대류의 가시화수법에 의한 관측 연구

The convective heat transfer, which is 25 to 35% of all heat dissipation of a human body causes upward natural convection around a human body. The characteristics of natural convection around a thermal manikin of the same shape with a real human body were examined by the visualization technics using infrared thermogram and smoke wire photography. The flow visualization technics indicated that the flow of a velocity 0.19 to 0.23 m1s existed already at a height of 0.3m over the floor. The characteristics of flow changed from laminar to turbulent at a height of 0.95-1.1m from the floor. A flow of velocity of 0.35 ㎧ as the maximum was observed at a level of the head of the manikin. The thermal boundary layer in which temperature excess was over 0.5℃ extended 70 ㎜ on the leg side, and it developed with the height.
