Methylmalonic acidemia (MMA) is a heterogeneous inborn error of propionate metabolism and its management frequently includes a low-protein diet to minimize precursors of methylmalonic acid and reduce its concentration in body tissues. In the longterm follow-up, renal dysfunction in these patients has been increasingly recognized. Tubulointerstitial nephritis is the most frequent renal complications and has been reported in the small number of renal biopsy specimens from young children previously by others. We report a case of a 18-year-old girl with MMA and renal dysfunction in whom renal biopsy demonstrated chronic tubulointerstitial nephritis. (Korean J Nephrol 2003;22(6):749-752)
한국과 일본의 미군정 초기 교육정책과 사회과 도입에 관한 연구

The social studies in Korea and Japan were introduced during the period of U.S. Military Government 1945-1948. So it is necessary for us to examine the education policy toward Korea and Japan of U. S. Military Government. Several consequences based on this study were as follows: First, the education policy of U. S. Military Government toward Japan was planned throughly, but that toward Korea was planned as an emergency measure. So in Korea, it was evident that no proper preparation had been made, either at the education policy or at the operational level. Second, in both countries(Korea and Japan), social studies was introduced as a means of democracy education. Therefore there was disagreement with introduction and practice of social studies. Teachers were in confusion with the social studies education-what is social studies?, How do I teach it?. Last, both countries have common feature with social studies, such as integration subject, problem-solving learning, core- curriculum . But to put it concretely , there were difference in model of curriculum. Namely the curriculum of Korea was modelled after the state of Colorado, and that of Japan was modelled after Virginia plan. So core-curriculum of social studies in Japan was more emphasized than in Korea.
초등학교에서 ICT 활용수업이 학습 및 정보활용능력에 미치는 효과

본 본 연구는 최근 초등학교 현장에서 새로운 교수-학습체제로 활용되고 있는 ICT 활용수업이 전통적 수업에 비하여 효과가 있는지, 그리고 ICT 활용수업의 대표적인 두 가지 유형인 교사주도형 ICT 활용수업과 학습자주도형 ICT 활용수업에 따라 학습자들의 학업성취도, 학습만족도 및 정보활용능력에 차이가 나타나는지를 탐색해 보고자 하였다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 초등학교 4학년 학생 118명을 전통적 수업 집단, 교사주도형 ICT 활용수업 집단, 학습자 주오형 ICT 활용수업 세 집단으로 구분하여 10주간 사회과 수업을 실시하였으며, 수업 종료 후 학업성취도와 학습만족도 검사, 그리고 정보활용능력 신장 여부를 확인하기 위한 필기시험 및 실기시험이 이루어졌다. 연구 결과, 학업성취도 면에서는 교사주도형 ICT 활용수업 집단이 전통적 수업 집단에 비해 더 높은 학습결과를 나타냈으며, 학습만족도 면에서는 수업에 대한 전반적 만족도에서 학습자주도형 ICT 활용수업 집단이 전통적 수업 집단에 비해 유의미하게 높은 점수를 나타내었다. 특히, 정보활용능력 면에서는 인터넷 활용능력 신장에 있어서 학습자주도형 ICT 활용수업 집단이 전통적 수업 집단과 교사주도형 ICT 활용수업집단에 비해 높은 성과를 나타내는 것으로 확인되었다. The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of three types of instruction (conventional instruction(CI), teacher-directed instruction using 1CT(t-ICT), and learner-directed instruction using ICT(1-ICT) on learning achievements, satisfaction, and information utilization skills in elementary school setting. To achieve purpose of the study, an experiment was conducted with 118 subjects in the 4th grade of elementary school at Incheon cith who enrolled in CI group, t-ICT group, and 1-ICT group. Achievement test, satisfaction test, and paper-pencil test & actual technique for information utilization skills test were used as research instruments for assessing dependent variables. The result of this study were summarized as follows. 1) There was significant difference in learning achievement score between t-ICT group and CI group(F=3.875, p<.05). 2) There was significant difference in learning satisfaction score between 1-ICT group and CI group(F=7.979, p<.05). 3) There were significant differences in information searching technique score using Internet(one element among information utilization skills) between 1-ICT and CI, t-ICT(F=8.048, p<.05). In conclusion, the importance of summary of learning contents implemented by teacher, consideration about various types of learner satisfaction, and the necessity of research on specific elements included in information utilization skills were discussed for the better instruction using ICT.

The problem of natural convection from a vertical heat-generating fin has been solved by coupling the equation of thermal diffusion in the fin to the constitute equations of the ambient medium under laminer flow conditions. The analysis is accomplished by employing an integral method. The governing equations for the problem are solved by shooting method based on the Runge-Kutta-Fehiberg scheme at Pr=0.7 This study deals with two provlems, which are line heat source and cooling plate. For the one, the effects on the temperature profile, the heat transfer coefficient and the fin efficiency have been investigated by using the parameters: the position of heat source(C), fin parameter(M₁M₁) and the strength of the heat source(q). For the other, the effects on the temperature distribution, the maximum value of temperature and the heat transfer coefficient have been investigated by using the parameters: the ratio of cooling plate(G) and the cooling plate parameter(M₁M₁)
