The use of multimedia Computers in EFL classrooms is becoming obligatory on Korean English teachers and computer-based multimedia products are becoming more popular nowadays. The majority of the people in Korea seem to have positive views on the potentials and values of multimedia English teaching and learning. Multimedia have truly many great advantages for TEFL. It seems to do many things which Korean English teachers are unable to do. However, in spite of the general effectiveness of multimedia English teaching, there are many issues and problems which should be resolved to achieve the goals of English education in Korea. English teachers should know the potential problems and try to eliminate them from their English classrooms. To this end, this paper will first review some principles which will support multimedia English teaching and advantages of multimedia. Then, it will focus on some major problems of multimedia English teaching and discuss solutions to them. Finally, I suggest that teachers take more active role in determining how multimedia system should be used and that technology be employed as a means to improve language skills.
태권도가 고혈압 비만고령여성의 좌심실기능 및 심혈관 위험인자에 미치는 영향

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Taekwondo training on body composition, physical fitness, ventricular diastolic function and cardiovascular disease risk factor in elderly women with hypertension. In body composition, body weight, body mass index, body fat percent and waist to hip ratio had a statistically significant. In physical fitness, right dumbbell curl up, sit-up, open-eyes one-legged standing time and 10m maximal walking speed had a statistically significant. In ventricular diastolic function, stroke volume, ejection fraction, Peak E wave peak velocity and E/A ratio had a statistically significant. In cardiovascular disease risk factor, total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein cholesterol and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein had a statistically significant. The difference in correlation between the groups are stroke volume and total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein cholesterol shows a negative correlation. ejection fraction and body fat percent shows a negative correlation, 10m maximal walking speed shows a positive correlation. Peak E wave peak velocity and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein shows a negative correlation. Therefore, Taekwondo training is very effective in body composition, physical fitness, and improvement of left ventricular diastolic function and cardiovascular disease risk factor in hypertension in elderly women.
비만 고령여성의 좌식행동과 Cystatin C 및 혈압의 관계

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the sedentary behavior and cystatin C, blood pressure in obese elderly women. Total of 80 obese elderly women (aged 70.3±O.4 years, mean±SEM; body mass index ≥25㎏/㎡) were analysed in the cross-sectional design. Prior to the blood collection, participants were asked to wear an uniaxial accelerometer for 4 consecutive weeks for the determination of sedentary behavior status. After a 10-h overnight fast, fasting venous blood samples were obtained from each participant. Fasting serum cystatin C concentrations was positively correlated with the sedentary time (r=0.599, P=0.001). The sedentary time was positively correlated with pulse pressure in obese elderly women (r=0.340, P=0.002). Moreover, the sedentary time was positively correlated with plasma insulin concentrations in obese elderly women (r=0.742, P=0.001). This study demonstrates that high amount sedentary time may negatively influences on renal function in obese elderly women. In summary, the current findings of the study suggest that reducing sedentary behavior could have public health implications including the prevention of obesity and blood pressure.
가중 메디안 필터를 이용한 16채널 라이다의 깊이정보 업샘플링

Three-dimensional (3D) LiDAR is widely used because it can accurately measure 360° 3D depth. One of the most widely used sensors to this end is VLP-16, a 16-channel LiDAR manufactured by Velodyne. This 16-channel LiDAR provides dense 3D depth data in the horizontal direction. However, in the vertical direction, it provides only sparse depth data owing to the LiDAR architecture. We propose an upsampling method to obtain a dense 3D depth map from a 16-channel LiDAR by applying an edge-aware filter to the LiDAR data. A camera- LiDAR sensor system composed of a 16-channel LiDAR and six vision cameras is used for this purpose. First, the LiDAR depth data are projected onto the camera image coordinates to generate a 2.5D depth map. Next, bilinear interpolation and a weighted median filter are applied to upsample the original depth map. Compared with the original LiDAR data, we can generate an extremely dense depth map by using the proposed method. The results of quantitative analysis show that the proposed method can dramatically increase the number of 3D depth points and reduce the depth reconstruction error.

This paper presents a control method to maintain stable mold level for unsteady bulging in high speed casting. The stabilizing mold level is an important factor to get high quality products. But, for various reasons, there are several disturbance factors which make mold level unstable. Bulging is one of disturbance factors and considered for the current stage of study. We design a disturbance observer to attenuate the effect of bulging which is periodic mold level disturbance. Since the period of bulging varies with the casting speed, the parameters of disturbance observer are changed by the casting speed. Simulation is illustrated to demonstrate stable performance of the proposed method in comparison with a previous method in a variable operating frequency.

무궁화 ‘다솜’은 1993년에 채종한 ‘홍순’ 종자를 이듬해에 한국원자력연구원 감마선 저준위조사시설에서 감마선 100㏉를 조사하여 1998년에 가로수용으로 유망한 우수한 화색을 가진 개체를 1차 선발하였다. 2005년부터 2010년까지 6년에 걸쳐 선발 계통의 균일성과 안정성을 검정하였다. 무궁화 ‘다솜’의 주요특성으로 초장은 106㎝로 길며, 분지수는 19개로 많은 편이고 가지는 상향으로 갈색을 띈다. 꽃은 홍단심계 반겹꽃으로 옅은 적색을 띄고, 꽃잎의 길이(4.0㎝)와 폭(3.3㎝)은 중간 정도이나 꽃잎의 겹침 정도가 강하여 전체적인 꽃의 직경(5.8㎝)은 다소 작은 편이다. 개화시간은 17시간 정도로 다른 품종들과 유사하나, 개화일수는 105일로 대조품종인 ‘홍순’(111일)에 비해 짧은 편이다. 잎의 모양을 비롯한 주요 특성은 ‘홍순’과 유사하다. A new Hibiscus syriacus variety, ‘Dasom’, was developed by radiation breeding using gamma ray exposure at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI). Seeds of the original variety, ‘Hongsun’, were collected in 1993. These seeds were irradiated at 100 Gy dose and M1 seeds w ere planted in a f ield of the KAERI in 1994. Lines w ith preferred flower color t hat were going to be used for street trees were initially selected in 1998. Analyses of characteristics were conducted from 2005 to 2010. The 5-year-old ‘Dasom’ plants were approximately 106 ㎝ in height and averaged 19 branches, and thus were suitable for street trees. The flowers of ‘Dasom’ were semi-double type with medium red color and red eye spots. Petal length and width were about 4.0 ㎝ and 3.3 ㎝, respectively. Flower diameter was slightly small, at about 5.8 ㎝, because of highly overlapping petals. The flowering period of ‘Dasom’ was about 105 days, which was 6 days shorter than that of the original variety, ‘Hongsun’. However, the main charactersistics of ‘Dasom’ including leaf shape were similar to those of the original variety, ‘Hongsun’.
