This study is concerned on the performance based fire protection design parameters to be incorporated into the related systems and designs including fire water reservoir design, indoor hydrant design, hydraulic calculations for sprinkler system, water pressure & water density for the sprinklers, criteria of automatic fire detecting system, fire alarm system, smoke ventilation and pressurized air supply, etc. Those parameters shall be performed on the fire protection design prior to the settlement of performance based fire protection design by the Korean law and regulations. In connection with this summarized study, further studies will be made in detail.

The charring rate is a basic principle for burning behavior of fire exposed timber. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship of charring depth, temperature and fire exposure time of heavy timber. For the study, the standard fire tests were conducted using full-scale furnaces. The variation of temperature achieved by thermocouples in a beam specimen of Douglas-fir from North America was observed in related with charring rate. The moisture have delayed the inner temperature rising especially at 20mm beneath of timber surface. The cumulative temperature delaying time and charring rate varied linearly and the coefficient of correlation of them appeared 0.9924. As compared with a simple empirical model which was proposed by White, the charring rate of beam derived from the test results appeared lower than column at near 60minutes and it agreed well when reach about 90minutes. It can be considered that was caused by the difference of timber section size and heating conditions. As a result of this study it seemed that a useful basic summary of charring characteristic of heavy timber have gained. Furthermore, it can be possible of establishing fire design model for domestic timber structure through various experimental research results.

In many fire emergencies, the auditory fire alarm signals are very important to save the occupant's life. But as the sound insulation of building elements has been improved, it is more difficult for occupant to recognize the fire alarm signals when the audible fire alarm worked. This is the first study to show the sound attenuation of audible fire alarm device in apartments. We measured and analyzed the sound attenuation level in seven units. The result showed that it was not sufficient to detect the sound from the fire alarm device in bedrooms. Whether the fire alarm device worked or not, the differences of sound level in bedrooms were below 1$\sim$10 dBA. To give the minimum sound level 60 dBA in bedrooms, the proper sound levels from alarm device installed in livingrooms were suggested using computer simulation.
방화구획 내화충전구조의 성능기준 현황 및 개선방안 - 설비관통부 충전시스템을 중심으로 -

최근 성능기준에 의한 평가규정이 시행된 건축물 내화충전구조에 대해 관련 제도운영체계와 국내외 성능평가방법 및 성능기준을 살펴본 후 현재 기준의 보완점과 향후 개선방안에 대해 고찰하였다. 내화충전구조는 방화구획의 기능을 완성시키는 중요한 부분으로서 연구개발 및 시장활성화가 필요하며, 현장 품질을 확보 유지할 수 있는 관리체계가 필요하다. 한편 내화성능 뿐만 아니라 구조거동에 대한 대응 및 내구성에 대한 기술기준의 보완 마련이 필요하다.
의용소방대 근대 역사·문화적 가치 연구 : 전북 군산시 임피면 의용소방대 술산지대를 중심으로

본 연구는 최근 소방박물관 건립 계획을 계기로 소방역사에 대한 자료조사와 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있으나 대부분의 실물 자료가 멸실·폐기되어 일부 소방차량과 진압 장비만이 남아있는 상황에서 소방의 근간이 되는 의용소방대발전방안을 제시하기 위해 전북 군산시 ‘임피면 의용소방대 술산지대’ 현장 방문 및 유물조사를 실시하였다. 조사 결과,일제강점기부터 사용해온 방화(防火) 우물, 완용펌프 등과 1960년대 개축한 의용소방대 건물과 소방망루 등이 남아있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 당시 임피면 의용소방대 술산지대의 역사·문화적 가치를 고찰하고, 소방역사·문화적 중요성과 등록문화재 지정·보존의 필요성 그리고 지역 문화재 지킴이로서 의용소방대의 새로운 역할을 제시하였다. Data investigations and research on the history of firefighting were conducted considering a recent fire museumconstruction plan. To devise a plan to develop a volunteer fire brigade (the basis of firefighting) in a situation in whichmost of the real data have been lost or discarded and only some firefighting vehicles and suppression equipment remain,a site visit and relic survey were conducted at the Sulsan Volunteer Fire brigade site in Impi-myeon in Gunsan-si,Jeollabuk-do. It was found that fire wells, manual pumps used since the Japanese colonial period, volunteer fire brigadebuildings, and a fire watchtower installed in the 1960s remain. Based on the results and considering the historical andcultural values of the Sulsan Volunteer Fire brigade in Impi-myeon at that time, this study emphasized the importance offire history and culture, the need to designate and preserve such sites as registered cultural properties, and the new roleof the volunteer fire brigade.

스프링클러설비는 능동적 소화시스템 중 가장 효과적이며 신뢰성이 높은 시스템이다. 또한 스프링클러설비를 설치함으로써 방화구획을 완화할 수 있으며, 특별피난계단의 부속실 및 비상용승강기의 승강장의 급기가압시스템에서 차압을 12.5㎩(스프링클러설비가 설치되지 않은 경우 25㎩)으로 할 수 있으므로 경제적인면도 고려되어질 수 있다. 이에 관한 보다 상세한 내용을 별도의 논문으로 다룰 것이다. Sprinkler system is the most effective fire suppression with high confidence among active fire extinguishing systems. According to the installation of the related system on buildings, more separation area of fire protection can be considered to the fire protection design, and also lower differential pressure (12.5 Pascal) is permitted on lobby of fire escape stairs and emergency elevator (25 Pascal shall be considered for none sprinkler system) with economic factor. More details will be handled on the related studies.
LNG 플랜트 공정계통의 실패율이 가용도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

The simulation investigation on the availability of LNG plant with scenario of failure events and failure rate has been carried out. This study focuses on the availability, productivity, criticality induced by failure rate of major equipment. The methodologies for simulation such as the equipment classification of LNG plant and failure type and event schematic are established. The availability and mean time to repair have second order function profile in the all cases except general equipment, but these profiles have different inclination. The production and criticality of the specified LNG plant, simulated by Monte-Carlo algorithm, is located in the range of P = 86~92% and PL = 6~13%.
