Symmetric three-layer $Al_2O_3/ZrO_2$ composite has been prepared by freeze casting and pressureless sintering at $1400-1600^{\circ}C$ in air. The layered material sintered at $1600^{\circ}C$ showed the maximum fracture strength (410 MPa), measured by a four-point bending test. Contact damage strength was superior in three-layer composite compared with corresponding mono-layered material, possibly due to the development of relatively large compressive stress. The grain growth of $ZrO_2$ particles was mainly governed by coalescence mechanism.
Draft genome sequence of Bacteroides sp. KGMB 02408 isolated from a healthy Korean feces

Bacteroides 속 균주들은 척추동물의 분변 등에서 분리된 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 건강한 한국인 분변으로부터 Bacteroides sp. KGMB 02408 균주를 분리하였으며 PacBio Sequel 플랫폼을 이용하여 Bacteroides sp. KGMB 02408 균주의 유전체서열을 분석하였다. 유전체는 G + C 구성 비율이 39.5%이고, 5,005개의 유전자와 rRNA 18개 tRNA 74개로 구성되었으며, 염색체의 크기는 5,771,427 bp였다. 또한, 유전체 분석 결과를 통해 산화-환원 효소와 메나퀴논 생합성 및 그와 관련된 다양한 유전자를 발견하였다. The genus of Bacteroides has been isolated from vertebrate animal feces. Bacteroides sp. KGMB 02408 was isolated from fecal samples obtained from a healthy Korean. The wholegenome sequence of Bacteroides sp. KGMB 02408 was analyzed using the PacBio Sequel platform. The genome comprises a 5,771,427 bp chromosome with a G + C content of 39.50%, 5,005 total genes, 18 rRNA genes, and 74 tRNA genes. Furthermore, we found that strain KGMB 02408 had some genes for oxidoreductases and menaquinone biosynthesis in its genome based on the result of genome analysis.

Development of rural-industry sites has been prompted in Korea since 1984. Some of the objectives of this program were increase of rural residents and development of rural area through the increased utilization of rural resources including surplus labour and agricultural products as raw materials for rural industries. Through several years' operation benefits and costs of this programm have been exposed clearly. Increase of off-farm income of the rural residents was the major benefit. However, costs of the program entailed were not low. Production costs of agricultural products in the area increased rapidly due to the competition between agriculture and industry for scarce resources such as land and labour. Besides this, most of the industries introduced pollution problem to the rural area. To make the things worse, employments by the industries were not so large as to decrease rural-urban migration. To find out which were the problems with the employment structure of rural industries, time series analysis was conducted for Jinchun rural-industry site of Chungbuk province. Some of the findings are as follows: 1) sources of the problems were, originated from industry itself rather than outside. In short, industries with a sound background were prosperous while weak industries emerged and submerged continuously. 2) as the level of salary of rural industries was lower than average agricultural wage most of young and able labourers were reluctant to work in rural industries. 3) though the rural industrialization was started to make job opportunities for rural residents, it seemed to be the time of starting inducement of residents for the industries because most of the residents expected to be employed in rural industries left toward urban area. 4) in the longer run, balanced development of rural area by providing better living environment would be the real solution for the rural exodus as well as labour shortage problem of rural industries.
