현대사회의 소비자들은 상상력을 자극하는 스토리가 담긴 제품을 구매하거나 서비스를 선호하고 있다. 제품의 기술과기능이 중요하던 시대에서 감성이 중요한 시대로 패러다임이 급속하게 바뀌어 가면서 디자인과 브랜드, 스토리텔링을 통해 고객들의 ‘감성’을 자극하는 기술이 부를 창출하는 원동력이 되고 있으며 새로운 브랜드를 만들어내는 경쟁력의 핵심 요소가 되고 있다. 시장의 변화를 촉진시키는 여러 요인 중에서도 특히 주40시간 근무제와 주5일 수업제의 확대시행으로 인한 여가시간의 증가는 전 국민들에게 다양한 형태의 스포츠·레저 활동 확산에 큰 영향을 미치고 있다. 확산일로에 있는 스포츠·레저산업에서 경쟁력을 갖춘 브랜드와 디자인 개발은 국민의 건강을 증진시킬 뿐만 아니라 수입품에 의존하는 시장의 구조 개선에도 일조할 것이다. 각 분야에서 경쟁력을 갖추기 위한 수단과 방법 중의 하나로서 바이오미메틱스, 즉 생체모방을 통해 혁신적인 과학자, 엔지니어, 디자이너, 사업가들은 대단히 효과적이고 차별화된 신개념의 비즈니스와 제품을 창출해내고 있다. 인간이 이룩한 모든 학문의 원천이자 모태인 자연의 유기적 질서를 관찰하고 모방하고 응용함으로써 과학적 근거를 갖추고 있는 바이오미메틱스는 시대적 필요성과 더불어 디자인계의 올바른 방향을 제시하는 선택 중의 하나가 될 것으로 기대된다. In these days, consumers tend to prefer purchasing a product or service that contains a story with imaginative motivation. Through branding design and storytelling, the technological approach toward touching ‘emotion’ of consumers has become one of the most crucial quality as there has been a paradigm shift in industries from functional and technological quality to emotional attachment. Especially, regulating both working hours to 40 hours per week and school days to five days a week has resulted an increased time for leisure and sports activities. Therefore competitive branding design approaches in the industries of sports and leisure are expected to improve the healthier lifestyle and to create more opportunity for the domestic sports and leisure market where the imported goods are dominantly abundant. Among diverse methods to achieve the emotional quality in products, there is Biomimetics, where innovative scientists, engineers, designers and entrepreneurs are developing effective and unique new business and products. By observing and mimicking organic orders of nature, a study where human beings have advanced from originally, the scientifically grounded Biomimetics is one of the solutions to point toward right direction of design industries.

제품개발을 위한 바이오닉스 디자인 어프로치에 관한 연구

The approach method for solving design problems has variously developed in the practical place such as educational facilities of design field or professional companies. However, owing to taking advantage of a specific current or trend, it is a certain fact that the works which make a styling the prime object nave repeated. With such view, more scientific, systematic, and authentic plan for design solution and the construction of a rational approach model are demanded. The Boinics Design is about applying the research and analysis of a structure, principle, or the way for survival of the ecology and the extraction of biological prototype to artificial system : design, in the every field. Through observation and application of organic order of nature which is the source and origin of all learning erected by human, the Boinics Design has scientific basis. With the need of the times, it will be one of the methodologies to propose right direction for design field.

알베르토 메다의 기술융합 디자인 리서치와 콜라보레이션 프로젝트에 관한 연구 - 1980년대와 1990년대를 중심으로 -

본 연구는 이탈리아 산업디자이너 알베르토 메다의 디자인 리서치 방식과 콜라보레이션 사례 등을 집중조명하고 분석하여 국내 디자인계 패러다임 변화의 계기를 마련하는 것이 목적이다. 엔지니어 출신이라는 불리한 조건과 한계를 극복하고 긴밀한 네트워크를 통해 이루어놓은 그의 업적을 본보기로 삼아 학문 간의 경계를 허물고 협력하는 융합적 해결 방안의 길을 찾자는 것이다. 본론에서는 첫째, 알베르토 메다가 주로 1980년대~90년대에 디자인하고 생산되었던 제품들을 선정하여 사용 소재 및 구조 등 기술융합적 리서치를 중심으로 분석하였다. 둘째, 디자이너로서 본격적으로 활동하는 과정에서 자신의 기술적 경험과 노하우가 디자인 차별성에 기여했던 긍정적 요인들을 찾아보았다. 셋째, 자신의 부족한 부분은 콜라보레이션으로 문제를 해결했던 사례들을 조사하였다. 메다의 작품들 가운데 오피스용 의자와 조명기구 개발사례 위주로 연구한 이유는 일반적 제품들과 비교해 적용기술과 재료에서 기술적 제약이 있고, 생산과 제조과정에서 다양한 분야와의 협업이 요구되는 제품군으로 판단하였기 때문이다. 그가 기계공학도로서 접근하고 제시했던 다양한 결과물들은 혁신성과 독창성으로 주목을 받았으며, 디자인과 기술력은 독립된 것이 아니고 상호 보완적인 관계에 있다는 것을 확인시켜 주었다. 또한 제품디자인 개발에서 성공적인 결과를 위해서는 미학적 요소와 기술적, 실험적 요소 등 다양한 분야의 전문적 지식들을 적극적으로 수용하는 것이 중요함을 실제적인 사례들로 증명하였다. 본 연구에서 도출된 메다의 융합적 사고와 디자인 리서치 결과는 제품디자인 개발 프로세스에 도입하고 적용시키는 사례로 활용될 것을 기대하고 제안한다. The aim of this study is for providing a challenge to the perspective in the design paradigm of Korea by focusing and analyzing the research methods and collaboration cases of Italian industrial designer Alberto Meda. From his achievements which came from his effort of overcoming the limitations as an engineer, this study regards his design process as a convergent solution to break the boundaries between industry and academia. Contents of this study have three stages. First, it includes the analysis about selective his work which was designed and produced in the 1980s and 1990s and focuses on his convergence research of technology, material, and system. Second, this study seeks and shows the critical factors of his engineering background that contribute to his work in his designer period. Third, this study examines the cases when he solved the problem and covered his weakness by collaboration. This study is mainly focused on the development of office chairs and lighting objects which have limitations in applied technology and materials, and require collaborations with various fields in product production and manufacturing process. His various approaches, which he presented as a mechanical engineer, were noted for its innovation and originality. In here, design and technology were not independent but complementary. In addition, he has been demonstrated the importance of actively embracing professional knowledge in a variety of fields, such as aesthetic factors, technical and experimental factors, for successful results in product design development process. This study suggests that Meda 's convergent thinking and design research results derived from this study present a convergence design case example which applied to the product design development process.

네덜란드 DAE(디자인 아카데미 아인트호벤)의 교육시스템 특성에 관한 연구

본 연구는 네덜란드의 DAE(디자인 아카데미 아인트호벤)가 독창적인 교육철학과 커리큘럼으로 인하여 세계 디자인계에서 높은 평판을 받아오고 있는 사실에 주목하였다. 이는 디자인교육의 본질과 지향점을 다시 살피고 학생들의 역량을 최대한 발휘할 수 있도록 이끌 수 있는 교육시스템의 체계적인 재정비와 실천이 요구되는 우리에게 의미 있는 단초가 될 수 있기 때문이다. DAE를 타 디자인교육기관으로부터 명확하게 차별화시키는 가장 핵심적인 특성은 전공의 영역을 인식하는 창의적인 사고의 방식이다. DAE는 기존의 장르, 재료, 매체 등과 같은 물성적인 범주에 따른 전공의 구분이 아닌 인간의 본성 안에서 상호 교류될 수 있는 8개의 전공과 이를 서포트하는 4개의 콤파스 전공체제를 구축하였다. DAE의 유기적인 커리큘럼은 개념적인 디자인어프로치를 지향하는 그들의 교육철학을 정확히 반영하고 있으며, 학생들의 개성을 계발할 수 있는 최적의 학업 분위기와 동기를 부여한다. 하지만 오늘날 DAE가 성공적인 교육인프라를 구축할 수 있었던 원동력은 예상했던 것보다 매우 단순한 이유의 조화로부터 기인하고 있음을 분석할 수 있었다. 설립당시부터 자율적이고 유연한 학교운영을 보장받아왔고, 국제적 명성의 졸업생들은 지속적으로 후배들의 교육에 힘을 보태고 있으며, 아인트호벤 시(市)는 디자인이라는 콘텐츠를 관(官)의 정책에 적극적으로 수용함으로써 DAE의 대외적 프로모션에 커다란 기여를 하고 있었다. 디자인패러다임의 급속한 변화 속에서 일률적이고 획일화된 교육방식으로는 더 이상 실효적인 발전을 꾀할 수 없다. DAE가 추구하는 차별화된 교육시스템은 다른 나라의 이상적 모델이 아닌 향후 우리의 디자인교육을 위한 당위성 있는 역할모델이 될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다. It is focused on the fact that Design Academy Eindhoven(DAE) in The Netherlands has been reputed from the design world owing to their own unique educational philosophy and curriculums. This fact will be a significant clue to us for preparing systematic improvement and practicing of educational system for guiding to show students personality to the full. The most important point of DAE definitely differed from other design educational institutions is the creative way of thinking for recognizing the area of majors. DAE established flexible educational system consisted of 8 Departments categorized not by uniformed subjects but according to the original nature of human being and 4 Compass Departments that endow suitable environment and motivation for enlightening personality through the conceptual approach. However, the basic factors for establishing successful educational infra of DAE are caused from combination by simple reasons. DAE has propulsive governed the academy from the foundation, and graduates have continuously concerned for their juniors, and also the city of Eindhoven enormously contributes to the constructing DAE`s international reputation. In rapid change of the design paradigm, our deign education can not make effective development with standardized way. Hereafter, we expect that the original educational system of DAE will be not just an ideal model of other country but the useful case model for our design education.

다문화간의 공감적 체험에 기초한 감성디자인 프로세스의 시도
