Operational testing of the THIOPAQ<SUP>®</SUP> facility that removes H₂S from landfill gas was performed for 746 days. The average H₂S removal efficiency was 99.4%, and the input quantities of air, NaOH, and nutrients per sulfur load were 13.1 ㎥/ton, 1.5 ㎥/ton, and 28.7 L/ton, respectively. The purity of the bio-sulfur produced from the facility was 94.8%, with 3.3% impurities, except for moisture. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy showed that the compositional contents of amino acids and free amino acids of the bio-sulfur surface were 5,308 and 728 ㎎/㎏, respectively. The mean particle size was 3.41 ㎛, which was much smaller than that of chemical sulfur. Based on these results, a high H₂S removal rate of more than 97% is feasible, and high value-added bio-sulfur, which is used as a fungicide because of its hydrophilic characteristics and small size, can be obtained at this facility.

The polymeric film which has been used for construction of the green house, shows both a limited durability and the dramatic decrease of light transmittance as the surface of the film is contaminated. Moreover, there are some problems on treatment of its waste by conventional methods such as reclamation and incineration. These problems of agricultural polymeric films would be solved if improvements of both the durability and the light transmittance could be achieved with addition of the anti-fouling property. The surface of polymeric films can be directly analyzed by complicated instruments. However, they can not be used at the site directly since the purchasing costs and operating costs are relatively expensive. In this study, an indirect method for analysis of the surface of polymeric films was proposed as an alternative method, in which hydrogen peroxide and sodium hypochlorite are used as an oxidizer and powders of carbon, silica and alumina are used as an inorganic contaminant. The light transmittance of polymeric films was decreased as increases of the oxidation time as well as the thickness of the film. The effect of carbon powder was more pronounced than other inorganic contaminants. The comparison of anti-fouling property of the conventional films or newly developed polymeric films might be successfully carried out through the proposed method.
병류흐름의 비다공성 중공사막 접촉기를 이용한 산소 용해 공정 수치해석

분리막 접촉기는 액-액, 기-액과 같이 두개의 다른 상 사이에 막이 상 계면 혹은 상 장벽의 역할을 수행하여 두 상간의 물질전달이 이루어지게 하는 장치이다. 이러한 특성을 지닌 비다공성 중공사막 접촉기를 이용한 산소 용해 공정의 특성을 전산모사를 통해 예측하였다. 공급물과 투과물이 같은 방향으로 흐르는 병류 흐름 시스템에 대한 분리막 접촉기 공정 지배 미분 방정식을 5차 Runge- Kutta-Verner 법으로 해석하였다. Compaq Visual Fortran 6.6 소프트웨어로 흡수 거동 예측 프로그램을 개발하였다. 개발된 프로그램을 사용하여 수치해석을 수행한 결과, 산소 용해 공정에 중요한 인자로 산소 기체의 투과 구동력, 유효 막면적과 체류 시간임을 알 수 있었다.
