Objective: The purpose of this study is to derive vulnerabilities in domestic standards by analyzing the IAEA’s and foreign nuclear regulatory bodies’ safety requirements for human and organizational factors (HOFs) and comparing them to existing domestic HOFs regulatory requirements in order to update the domestic regulations if necessary. Background: HOFs mean the individual and the organization factors. In addition, HOFs include contextual factors such as those related to the technology, the work environment and the task to be undertaken. All factors related to the HOF can influence human performance, as well as individuals’ interactions with each other. HOFs have been recognized as a major factor contributing to the safety of nuclear facilities and nuclear accidents such as Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, Fukushima. One of the lessons learned from the Fukushima accident is that organizations need better preparation for unexpected situations, where their systematic approach to safety analyzes the human, organizational and technical factors. Accordingly, the regulatory body should use a more systematic approach to analyzing the human and organizational capabilities of domestic nuclear power plants (NPPs) in order to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the regulations and encourage the licensee to secure and improve their own safety operation capabilities. To this end, it is necessary to prepare a basis for judging the appropriateness of the overall HOFs system to ensure the safe operation of NPPs. Method: HOFs regulatory requirements of domestic and foreign nuclear regulatory bodies including Canada, the United States, Finland, and the United Kingdom were investigated. Foreign regulatory requirements were analyzed and compared with domestic requirements. Through a gap analysis, differences between domestic and foreign countries’ HOFs regulatory requirements were identified, and potential vulnerabilities in domestic HOFs regulatory requirements were derived. Results: Through the gap analysis, it was confirmed that domestic HOFs regulatory requirements, could be improved in the management system, leadership, and safety culture areas. Conclusion: These results can be addressed by developing an amendment to domestic HOFs regulatory requirements to improve the operational safety of NPPs.

N/A We analyzed 166 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) retrospectively for 3 years duration. The diagnosis was made by serologically, histologically and/or radiologically. They were 136 males and 30 females and ages ranged from 31 to 80 (mean: 56) years with a peak incidence during the sixth decade. Serum AST was normal in 39 (23%) and ALT in 113 (68%). In 20% of the patients, AST/ALT was greater than 3:1. Serum HB was positive in 110 patients (66%), anti HCV in 26 (16%), and no viral markers were dectected in 30 (18%). Among 110 HBsAg positive patients, 30 (27%) were positive for HBeAg and 34 (31%) were positive for HBV-DNA. Of the 30 patients who were both HBsAg and anti-HCV negative, evidence of past HBV infection (anti-HBs or anti-HBc) was found in 12. Using the polymerized chain reaction (PCR), HBxAg was detected in 90 (74%) of 122 patients studied: 71/82 (87%) in HBsAg positive, and 19/40 (48%) in HBsAg negative. The anti-HCV or HCV-RNA was detected in 8 (17%) ef 48 patients who were positive for HBsAg and in 18 (56%) of 32 patients who were neagtive. Liver cirrhosis was found in 148 patients (89%) when they initially came to the hospital. Portal vein thrombosis was noted in 63 patients (38%) by ultrasonography and/ or angiographically. Serum alpha fetoprotein (AFP) was elevated (greater than 400 ng/dl) in 9(60%). No correlation was found between the level of AFP and the extent of the tumor. Among 166 patients, small tumor (less than 5 cm in diameter) was found in 17 of whom surgical resection was done in 3, and 11 reeived transarterial embolization (TAE) and/or percutaneous ethanol injection (PEI). In conclusion, most of the patients with. HCC were complicated with decompensated liver cirrhosis when they initially came to the hospital. Therefore, it is absolutely recommended to perform the serial alpha fetoprotein measurement and ultrasonographic examination regularly to all the patients with chronic hepatitis regardless of the etiology of the liver disease.

A new lectin(NIB) was obtained from the Neptunea intersculpta through the following procedure; 0.15 M NaCl extraction, (NH₄)₂SO salt fractionation, DEAE-cellulose 52, hydroxyapatite and chromatofocusing column chromatography. The hemagglutinating activity of the lectin was stable by 45℃ and was inhibited by lactose, N-acetyl-D-galactosamine and D-galactose. It`s isoelectric point was pH 3.8 and it was composed of three kinds of subunits; 68;000, 66,000 and 61,000 daltons. The lectin contained relatively high contents of acidic amino acids, but the amount of sulfur cotaining amino acids was not estimated.

새로운 조각매물고둥렉틴인 NIC는 황화암모늄침전, 이온교환크로마토그래피 및 친화성크로마토그래피의 방법으로 분리, 정제되었다. 이는 전기영동상에서 한개의 주된 띠와 세개의 희미한 띠를 나타냈으며, specific activity는 82.16에서 85333.33 units/mg으로 증가되었다. Sephadex G-200 크로마토그래피와 SDS 전기영동결과, NIC는 분자량이 약 112,000으로 나타냈으며, 이는 분자량 약 14,000인 subunit의 octamer로 추정되었다. NIC는 2.5%의 당을 함유하는 당단백질이었으며, lactose, galactose 및 N-acetyl-D-galactosamine과 특이하게 결합하였다. 이의 아미노산조성은 산성아미노산의 함량이 많았으며, sulfur를 함유한 아마노산의 함량은 적었다. Plychlorinated biphenyl ( PCB ) 분해균주의 분리·동정 및 특성에 관한 연구

The ratios of PCB degrading bacteria to heterotrophic bacteria were about 0.035%∼0.444% in Han River and Anyang stream. The highest ratio was found at Gunpo bridge in Anyang stream into which plants` effluents has been directly releasing. The two isolates capable of degradading Aroclor 1254, one of the PCB mixtures, were identified as Pseudomonas sp.. GS5, one of the two isolates, in the ability of biodegradation of Aroclor 1254 shown the degradation rate of 18%, 34%, 68% and GS6, the other isolate 2%, 28% 56% during 3, 6, 9 days, respectively. While the mixed culture of isolates had not influenced the ability of degradading Aroclor 1254, the isolates showed two times of degradading ability when biphenyl was added to it. The genes encoding enzymes of Aroclor 1254 degradation were located at plasmid and chromosome in the case of GS5 and GS6, respectively.
