A DC-DC converter is a device that changes the voltage level through which DC flows and is generally used to convert input sources. Currently, DC-DC converters are being developed into brick-type modules whose sizes are standardized and can be installed and replaced in various applications. In addition, the importance of miniaturization through high power density is gradually emerging in order to output high power within a limited size. In order to increase power density within a limited size, it is necessary to select an optimal topology considering operating parameters such as switching frequency and current ripple, the size and number of various devices and components, and to design a circuit through precise analysis. This paper proposes an interleaved forward topology to achieve ripple reduction and miniaturization of brick DC-DC converter modules. The proposed interleaved forward topology is a topology optimized for miniaturizing brick-type modules with limited size. Planar type 2-transformer parallel structure increases power density and the primary side switches without an off-period to transfer energy to the secondary side without an off-time to maintain continuity of output. As a result, ripple voltage can be minimized and miniaturized design is possible without an output inductor that occupies a large size. In the text introduces the circuit configuration, operating principles, and main features, and explains the excellence of the proposed topology method through the actual manufactured shape and test results.
