A new 3-phase voltage disturbance generator is proposed. The voltage drop of the conventional generator in normal mode can be reduced significantly. The output voltage of the proposed generator is constant in normal mode and the efficiency of the series transformer is improved. The proposed generator has good feature of simple structure, cost effective implementation, high reliability, high efficiency, and easy control. The usefulness of the scheme is verified through simulation and experiments.

This paper deals with output voltage characteristics analysis of outage and phase jump generator. As soon as the outage occurs the STS(Solid Transfer Switch)s are switched off. At the beginning of the outage the DG is required to limit the reverse current within the rated DG output current. In case of phase jump the DG output voltage phase should be adjusted with PLL. Simulation results show the output voltage characteristics of the generator.

This paper describes an improved short-circuit protection for a multilevel ac/dc power converter. The output dc power of the proposed converter can be disconnected from the load within several hundred microseconds at the instant of short-circuit fault. Once the fault has been cleared the dc power is reapplied to the load. The rising time of the dc load voltage is as small as several hundred microseconds, and there is no overshoot of the dc voltage because the dc output capacitors hold undischarged state. Therefore, the proposed converter can be used for a power supply, which requires a rapid disconnection of the load from the power supply in the case of a short circuit, as well as a rapid connection the load to the power supply after the clearance of the short circuit condition.

This paper deals with a simple structured power quality disturbance generator for nonlinear load devices. The proposed generator can be applied to the performance test of custom power devices. Voltage sag. swell, outage. unbalance and phase jump after outage are provided by the generator. The improving phase jump operating principle of the generator is described and analysed. The usefulness of the generator is verified through simulation.

This paper describes a high voltage high power DC power supply which has the ability of pulsed mode operation. The power supply is constructed with several series connected power converters based on modified multilevel converters. This paper deals with an analysis of SCR thyristor switching pattern for a power quality disturbance generator with phase jump function. The proposed generator can be applied to the performance test of custom power devices. Voltage sag, swell, outage, unbalance and phase jump after outage are provided by the generator. The phase jump operating principle of the generator is described and analysed. Especially, a proper switching of the SCR thyristors for the proposed generator is important to guarantee the system reliability. Therefore the switching patterns for the thyristors in each made were analysed.

This paper deals with the SCR thyristor switching characteristics of a 3-phase voltage disturbance generator. The series transformers of the generator require bypass SCR thyristors to provide the source voltage to the output terminal in normal operating mode. The SCR thyristor switching characteristics is quite different according to the connection point to the series transformer. The switching characteristics is analysed and verified through simulation results.

This paper describes the design of a new method for the minimization of STS breaking time at utility side fault. The proposed method provides reducing the fault current time use for the STS. In this paper, it is also considered with the characteristic of fault current, it can be avoided to decline the power quality damaged in the utility side fault. The simulation results show the usefulness of the method.
