Recently, the concept that the ground is for walkers has been wide spread and our city has transformed to pedestrian-centered space. This radical change produced another problem, absence the role of underground space. Underground space of the past depended on another characteristics encouraging walking and was between-place activities linking one another. This is the a primary cause of absence the role of underground space. So that, in this study the character of underground space transforms between-place activities into within-place activities. In other words, underground space is used by separately characteristics encouraging walking instead of dependind on another one any more. Through walking condition evaluations and underground space studied before, analysis items were extracted. The analysis items were categorized passageway, shop, enterance. Lastly, by generalizing the above results, this research has suggested the methods of utilizing the underground space in characteristics encouraging walking. This study contributes not only to revitalizing the underground space, but also to improve pedestrian in center of the city.

This study analyze of the behavior pattern of user for open space in the urban park through Behavior Mapping and ArcView GIS. It draws on a combination of behaviour mapping and GIS supported techniques of spatial annotation and visualization, to reveal common patterns of behaviour that appear to be correlated with particular layouts and details. As a result, the urban park behavior pattern of user types are classified by a Resting Behavior and a Moving Behavior mainly. The user behavior likes the place that became the shade generally. And the user distributed over the edge of the space. The Resting Behavior was analyzed into high frequency in a group with many few participants. On the other hand, the Moving Behavior was analyzed into low frequency in a group with a few lot of participants.

Since middle of 1990s, growing opinions unfavorable to 1st generation of New-town Developments(Bun-dang, Il-san, Pyung-cheon, etc.) has led governments interested in comparatively small-size housing developments. Eventually, semi-agricultural land has been encroached to develop. A lot of private developers beginning to develop housing next to existing 1st generation New-town developments because their land cost was affordable, and still has easy access to Seoul. In addition to that, By taking advantage of existing infra-structures of those New-town, developers saved quite amount of the construction costs. Those parasitized housing developments without any serious planning process have lowered the living quality of the both residents. Unfortunately, there has been literally no articles regarding those thoughtless developments. The study evaluates those parasitized housing developments without any serious planning process. Numerical indexes regarding population, infra-structure, etc. has been used to measure how serious the damage done by the thoughtless development. The result of the study would help to establish the standard to judge whether the development is thoughtless or not.

1st generation of new town development initiated around 1980s is generally inconsiderate on sustaining community. The 2nd generation of new town development which has planned 20 years later, has brought dramatic improvement on that issue. This study compares the pedestrian spaces between 1st and 2nd generations of the new town. In the beginning, This study listed types of pedestrian spaces from previous studies. There are two different analyses. Fist, we analysed each type of pedestrian space quantitative. Second, we analysed connectivity and accessibility of each pedestrian space. The comparison and analysis of the pedestrian space in drawings leads us to derive major changes in pedestrian space and network design of new town development in Korea. As a result, we confirmed in detail that the pedestrian zones are more accessible and, the connections in the pedestrian zones are stronger in 2nd generations than those of 1st generations. Even though our research only exposed that the 2nd generation is more 'pedestrian friendly' comparing with 1st generation through documental analysis, it gives a basic foundation for further studies like analyzing actual pedestrian behaviors.
