Effects of titrated extract of Centella asiatica (TECA) and epidermal growth factor (EGF) isolated from the urine of pregnant horse on the proliferation of human epidermal keratinocyte in culture were studied. An increase in the number of keratinocyte was observed with the treatment of TECA at the concentration ranges from 1 ㎍/㎖ to 100 ㎍/㎖. Effects of low molecular weight EGF (LEGF) and high molecular weight EGF (HEGF) on the proliferation of keratinocyte in culture were also studied. The number of keratinocyte in culture was significantly increased with LEGF and HEGF respectively at the concentration of 10 ng/ml. Simultaneous treatment of the keratinocyte with LEGF, HEGF and TECA led to the increased proliferation of keratinocytes resulting 96% of the effect of a positive control, EGF isolated from mouse submaxillary glands.
현장암반 평가에 관한 제안 및 암반분류법들간의 상관관계 고찰

본 연구에서는 암반분류를 현장에서 바로 실시할 수 있는 암반분류법을 도출하고 도출된 분류법과 기존분류법간의 상관관계를 고찰하는데 그 목적이 있다. 암반 묘사를 위한 분류인자를 먼저 암반강도와 암반구조로 나누었으며, 암반강도는 점하중강도와 절리상태, 암반구조는 RQD와 절리간격을 통하여 평가하였다. 변수의 평가를 위한 지표는 기존의 분류법에서 획득하여 이용하였으며, 이를 통하여 암반의 강도 특성과 구조적 특성을 모두 나타내었다. 도출된 각 각의 변수에는 25점의 배점을 할당하였다. RMR(basic)과 본 연구와의 상관관계는 RMR(basic)=0.86(X-Method)+14.47, 수정 RMR과 본 연구와의 상관관계는 RMR=0.87(X-Method)+9.20로 나타났다. 결정계수는 각각 R2=0.841, R2=0.846으로 나타났다. The purpose of this study is to find out rock mass classification method which is practically applicable to a field and to consider a correlation between the new method and the old method. Rock mass is an aggregate of separated blocks. To express the aggregate, the properties of both intact rock and rock mass should be considered. In this study, therefore, parameters for rock mass description are classified into rock strength and rock structure. Indices for parameters evaluation are obtained from old method and the strength and structure property of rock is described by using those indices. Value of 25 is allocated to each parameter obtained. RMR(basic)=0.86(X-Method)+14.47 is derived between RMR(basic) and this study and RMR=0.87(X-Method)+9.20 is derived between revised RMR and this study. Coefficient of determination is R2=0.841 and R2=0.846 each.

스테인리스강은 오스테니틱 스테인리스강, 페리틱 스테인리스강과 마르텐시틱 스테인리스강으로 대별할 수 있으며, 이 고도의 안전성이 요구되는 산업계에서 스테인리스강의 입계부식, 응력부식균열과 핏팅과 같은 국부적 부식이 발생하면 대형사고로 귀결될 수 있다. 스테인리스강의 입계부식 기구와 대책 그리고 입계부식측정 방법에 대한 기술소개를 하여 산업현장에서 흔히 접하는 스테인리스강 예민화에 대한 길잡이가 되도록 하고, 이 분야를 전문적으로 연구하려는 연구자에게 예민화 전반을 이해하는데 활용되도록 하였다. Stainless steel can be classified into three categories depending on the microstructure as austenitic stainless steel, ferritic stainless steel and martensitic stainless steel. Generally, stainless steel is extremely resistant to corrosion as the name implies. However, under specific environments, susceptibility to localized corrosion such as pitting, intergranular corrosion and stress corrosion cracking increases. This paper reviewed the state of arts on intergranular corrosion mechanisms, countermeasures on intergranular corrosion and intergranular corrosion test methods. Intergranular corrosion is mostly related with chromium depletion at the grain boundary and sometimes with segregation of electroactive elements in solution annealed stainless steel. Countermeasures on intergranular corrosion include avoiding chromium depletion by heat treatment and the addition of alloying elements. Sensitization evaluation of stainless steel was performed either through acid immersion test or electrochemical test. The methods were standardized in (Japanese Industrial Standards) . Even though are useful in evaluating the degree of sensitization for industrial purpose but do not provide detailed information about sensitization mechanism, cause and chromium profile.

In the present study, Ni-TiO2 composite coatings were electrodeposited in a sulfamate bath containing TiO2 particles. The influence of the ultrasonic treatment on the co-deposition of TiO2 particles in the coating and the hardness of the electrodeposited Ni-TiO2 composite has been investigated. Three different ultrasonic treatments (pretreatment before the electrodeposition (pre-UT), pretreatment + applied during the electrodeposition (UT), and the electrodeposition without the ultrasonic treatment (w/o UT)) were performed. The Ni-TiO2 composite coatings are characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), image analyzer, and hardness tester. Comparison of results indicates that the volume fraction is more important factor than the agglomerated particle size in terms of the strength improvement, and the strength of the electrodeposited Ni-TiO2 composite coatings is enhanced with pre-UT condition.

Betaine, a major component of Lycii Fructus, was evaluated for its anti-hepatotoxic activity on carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatotoxicity in primary cultured rat hepatocytes. Betaine was found to attenuate carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatotoxicity both morphologically and biochemically. Typical hepatocyte necrosis due to carbon tetrachloride seemed to be reduced by 50 to 500mcM of betaine under microscopical observation. The value of glutamic pyruvic transaminase released from the hepatocytes into the medium significantly decreased as betaine concentration increased. Betaine also significantly elevated the reduced activities of some enzymes, cytochrome P-450, 7-ethoxycoumarin-O-deethylase and glutathione-S-transferase, involved in xenobiotic metabolism due to carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatotoxicity. These results demonstrate a possible hepato-protective role of betaine against fatty liver that could be easily induced by carbon tetrachloride.

In the present study, denting corrosion experiments were performed as a function of crevice gap size (50, 100 and 200 ㎛) in a solution containing 3,500 ppm NaCl+0.2 M CuCl2 (pH=3 adjusted by HCl). The effects of chloride ion concentrations (3, 3,500 and 35,000 ppm as NaCl) were also outlined with two different crevice gap sized (100, 200 ㎛). In addition, the effect of NiB on the denting corrosion was also investigated in a solution of 35,000 ppm NaCl+0.2 M CuCl2 (pH=3 adjusted by HCl). The results showed that denting rate increased with the increasing crevice gap size at an initial stage and became nearly constant afterwards. As the concentration of chloride ion increased, the denting rate also increased. However, However, the addition of a Nib powder of 4 g/L in to the acid-chloride solution was observed to suppress the denting rate significantly.

Effects of betaine, a major component of Lycii Fructus, on carbon tetrachloride intoxicated rats were evaluated. Histological studies showed that betaine had improved the typical necrosis around centrilobular area in liver tissue due to the carbon tetrachloride intoxication. Betaine, whether it was administrated simultaneously or prior to carbon tetrachloride, prevented or retarded the elevation of liver-weight/body-weight ratio due to the carbon tetrachloride intoxication. Betaine also significantly elevated the reduced activities of some enzymes, cytochrome P-450, 7-ethoxycoumarin-O-deethylase and glutathione-S-transferase, involved in xenobiotic metabolism due to carbon tetrachloride intoxication. These results demonstrate a possible hepato-protective role of betaine against fatty liver that could be easily induced by carbon tetrachloride in rat.

The effects of pH, types of applied current, agitation method and time, additive on the amount of codeposited TiO₂ particles in the matrix were investigated. The deposition rates increased with increasing pH values, while the volume fraction of TiO₂ particles and the size of agglomerated TiO₂ particles in the composite decreased. The volume fraction of TiO₂ particles in the composite decreased when pulsed current of 50% duty cycle was used. And the size of agglomerated TiO₂ particles in the nickel matrix of pulsed current was smaller than that of DC current specimen. The volume fraction of TiO₂ particles in the matrix decreased with longer time by air agitation, but in case of using magnetic bar, volume fraction in the same range of time was relatively constant. The volume fraction of the electrodeposited Ni-TiO₂ composite in the solution containing 0.01 M Dimethylamine borane (DMAB) increased slightly with increasing agitation time regardless of agitation methods. Thermal stability of the electrodeposited Ni-TiO₂ composite increased with lower pH at the temperature range of 200~800℃, and the results showed that the amount of co-deposited TiO₂ relies more on the deposition rate than zetapotential of TiO₂ particles.
