The physical properties of textile materials and thermal physiological responses of the human subjects were evaluated with 4 different types of the army combat uniforms including US, German, Korean and general uniforms for this study. 8 male adults were used as the human subjects and the tests were done in the environmental chamber that was 25±0.1℃ of temperature, 65±5% of relative humidity and below 0.3 m/sec of air velocity. The test protocol consisted the rest period for 20 min., the exercise period for 20 min., the rest period for 20 min., the exercise period under wind condition for 20 min., and the recovery period for 20 min. The human subjects walked with 4.5 km/hr for 10 min., ran 7.5 km/hr for 10 min. during the first exercise period and walked and ran with the same speeds under 3.5 m/sec of the air velocity that simulated outdoor condition during the second exercise period. The test results of the study were as follows; The wind condition affected the skin and microclimate temperature of the human subjects lower compared to without wind condition, but had insignificant effect on the humidity control. The low air permeability of Korean uniform caused blocking the elimination of the humidity from the body and the regulation of body temperature. However, Korean uniforms could be the excellent one with the designs considering the ventilation of the uniforms and the textile fabrics with better air permeability.
3차원 스캔 기술과 니트 소재의 신축성을 적용한 밀착형 스포츠웨어 상의 설계

This research studied how to develop tight upper sportswear from 3D scan data considering fabric stretch property. Subjects were five Korean men of average figure in their 20`s. Scanning was done for ten postures via vitus smart/pro (Techmath LTD). Analyzing from 3D scan data, more than 70% of the upper body surface showed surface change rate under 20%. It was shoulder and under arm side part that showed most noticeable body surface change when moving. A parametric model with convex surface was generated and flattened onto the plane, resulting 2D pattern. The error rate occurring in the process of 3D to 2D conversion was 0.2% for outline and 0.13% for area, respectively. Thirteen kinds of stretchable fabrics in the market were collected for this study. Stretch property was in the range of 16.0~58.2% for wale direction; 23.1~78.4% for course. Based on wear trial test, four fabrics were chosen for making the 1st experimental garment and finally one fabric was chosen for the 2nd one, which was developed applying 4 kinds of crosswise reduction rate on 2D pattern: 0, 5, 10, and 15%. Through wear trial test and garment pressure measurement, experimental garment applied with 10% pattern reduction rate was evaluated as most comfortable and considerable.

For this study, we developed clothing in which textile materials that were excellent weather control function for the cold environment and we performed the human subject test with developed clothing to determine the thermal comfort. We used 2 clothing samples developed (A and B, hollow yarn+moisture absorption/quick drying yarn, 3 layers, high stretchable, heat reflection film and lamination treated) and a control sample (Ctrl.) for the human subject test and 8 adult males were used as a human subjects and environmental conditions of chamber were 0±1℃. 50±5%RH, 0.3m/ sec. The results were as follows: The average skin temperature and hand, thigh temperature of B were higher than B and Ctrl. (p<.05). The micro-climates of B were near to thermal comfort range which is 32±1℃ and 50±10% RH. The chest temperature of B was significantly higher than others (p<.05). The relative humidity of B was lower than others and kept stable rather than others. The thermal sensation of B was near the “neutral” and was significantly different from Ctrl. (p<.01) and the weight loss of B was lower than Ctrl. (p<.05). The counting task and hand temperature was positively related and the counting task value of B and A is bigger than Ctrl. and that of A was bigger than Ctrl. (p<.05).
PCM 가공과 3차원 인체 모델링 기술을 적용한 노년 여성용 기능성 언더웨어 설계

This study aimed to develop functional underwear for elderly women in their sixties in terms of good fit, wear comfort and body temperature regulation. To satisfy elderly women`s physical and metabolical needs, an automatic temperature control system via PCM treatment was applied. Underwear pattern was produced by producing body surface replica, which was derived from 3D body parametric model. Differential ratios of outline length and area between 3D surface and 2D plane were 1.4% and 0.5%, respectively. The reduction rate was determined as 10% through the expert`s evaluation. PCM treated fabric showed higher Q-max, meaning that it can facilitate the thermal transition in hot situation. Moreover, it also showed higher insulation to preserve heat and keep warm microclimate in a cold weather. Heat distribution measurements on various body parts revealed that the temperature after PCM treatment was significantly higher. The clothing pressure after 10% pattern reduction showed higher before reduction, at the same time, even lower than the comfort clothing pressure range of 5~10 gf/㎠, implying that experimental garment of this research is acceptable in terms of clothing pressure. Evaluation results on the comfort to move in various motions proved that adequate clothing pressure improved the wear comfort in various motions.

This study is conducted to examine the heat/moisture transport properties and wearing performance of high-tech fabrics for comfortable sportswear which have several factors such as fiber type, fiber content, yarn number, yarn density, weaves and areal weight by means of KES--F system measuring device with 15 kinds of fabrics in which the therproperties included the basic mechanical properties. And also the moisture transport properties were measured by standard test method. Finally, we have obtained useful specification for fabrication the quickly wick perspiration/drying high-tech fabrics for comfortable sportswear. (1) The specially-engineered polyester fibers used in woven fabrics (brushed fabric and normal fabrics) transport perspiration away from body to the surface of the garment, where it can evaporate quickly. At the same time, fabric dries quickly. Fabric can be machine-washed and retain its shape for long time. (2) Develfabric (#PK-3) is a new type of specialty knitted fabric. It has a double-layer construction consisting of a dry layer and a moisture absorbing layer, and offers perspiration absorption and transpiration properties that are ideal for sports activities in which the wearer perspires heavily. During and after exercise, perspiration is quickly wicked to the outside, leaving the skin always feeling dry and comfortable.
