Sensor placement method for damage identification has been developed for model updating using Taguchi method. In order to select the optimal sensor location, the analysis of variance of objective function using orthogonal array was carried out. Then, modal data at the selected locations were used for damage identification using model updating. The numerical model of a cantilever beam was used in order to compare the damage identification results with conventional sensor location method.

N/A In this study. the pilot scale experiments were performed using bank-filtered water as raw water in K region of the middle of Nakdong River to select the optimum treatment process that could remove manganese effectively. The processes applied in pilot plant were manganese contact filtration process, aeration oxidation process and bio-film contact filtration process. In the manganese contact filtration the average removal efficiency of manganese was 98.4%(manganese conc. 0.03㎎/L) when manganese concentrations were ranged between 0.80 and 3.40㎎/L and pH was controlled in the range from 7 to 8. The average removal efficiency of aeration oxidation process and bio-film contact filtration process was 58.2% and 85.6% respectively. In conclusion the removal of manganese was effective in the process of manganese contact filtration but aeration oxidation process and bio-film filtration process should be further investigated at various conditions to verify the process effectiveness.
Stress distributions and wrinkling analysis of webs under non-uniform and asymmetric edge loading

Non-uniform edge loading can cause the unwanted wrinkling of a web. Airy stress functions are obtained in a closed form for the wrinkling analysis of a web under non-uniform and asymmetric edge loading. The stress distributions of a web under non-uniform edge loading on one side only show the effect of Saint Venant’s principle. For any non-uniform edge loading, the stress distributions converge to the linear one with equal resultant force and moment. The wrinkling modes and conditions of a web with arbitrarily distributed loading at any edge are found. The non-uniformity of applied edge loading affects the wrinkling condition of a web.
