This paper addresses performance analysis of a reciprocating compressor. A computer simulation model has been developed to predict and estimate the compressor performance. Instead of using ideal gas equations, real gas equations are used in describing the state of gas. The compressor simulation model consists of a cylinder control volume, suction system and discharge system. Conservation laws of mass and energy are applied to the cylinder section only, The suction and discharge system are described by the Helmholtz resonator modeling. Some of input data required for the simulation have been obtained from experiments. These experimentally obtained input data are effective flow area, effective force area and dynamic characteristics of valves. Simulation results of real gas equations have been compared with those of ideal gas equations. It has been found that the simulation with real gas equations yields lower cylinder temperature and heat transfer compared with those of ideal gas equations. Differences in pressure, mass flowrates, valve motions and gas pulsations are found quite small.

In this paper hydrodynamic lubrication analysis is carried out to investigate the effects of groove location on the lubrication performance of a piston and cylinder system in a linear compressor. The rectangle shaped grooves having a constant groove depth and width are applied on the lubrication area of the piston. The Universal Reynolds equation is used to calculate the oil film pressure, and the Elrod algorithm with the finite different method is used to solve the governing equation. The JFO boundary condition is applied to predict cavitation regions. Transient analysis for different locations of the grooves on the piston is carried out using the typical operating condition of the linear compressor in order to estimate the variations of frictional power losses and minimum film thicknesses. When the grooves are applied on the lubrication area, both the frictional power loss and the minimum film thickness decrease. The frictional power loss can be reduced effectively, while maintaining a minimum film thickness to enable the piston operation without direct contact with the cylinder surface, by means of choosing a proper location of the grooves. The optimum location of the grooves to improve a lubrication performance depends on the operation condition or the system requirements specification.

It appears that the reducing effects of Suilin (GAH / 034) in the backfat were partially influenced by bred line and/or sex: The reducing effect of Suilin on P1-backfat in LYD pig is markedly higher than those of LYY pigs in both sex, whereas in case of P2-backfat, there were little effect of LYD male pigs in com-ared with LYY male pigs. However, the positive effect of Suilin at P3 -backfat were not affected by sex and brad line. The effect of Suilin on growth rate was clearly negative in case of male LYD pigs. But, the growth rate did not seem to be significantly influenced by treatment in general.

Spleen cells from Balb/c mice immunized with bovine IgG1 heavy chain were successfully fused with SP2/0 mouse myeloma cells and culture fluid of the hybrid cells were tested for specificity by enzyme-linkers immunosorbent assay. Of 48 initial hybrid clones, 21 produced antibodies to bovine IgG1. After cloning and rectoning, 2 (G1D2, G1H12) of these hybrid clones retained specificity and were grown in mass culture. The monoclonal (anti-bovine IgG1) antibody G1D2 and G1H12 were reacted to bovine IgG1 specifically in their dilution of more than 100- and 10-folds, respectively.

The reduction properties of backfat thickness PI, P2, P3 and Pm in Suilin treated group were 14.3%, 15.5% 15.6% and 15.1% in compared with those of control group, respectively. These results are found to be more noticeable than that of Wood et al. $lt;10.9% : P2) and somewhat comparable to that of Kilpatrick (18.8%: P2). The increased rate of backfat thickness P1, P2, P3 and Pm in Suilin treated group during whole period of this experiment were -28.9%, -23.4%, -30.4.%and -27.6% in compared with those of control gorup, respectively. The effect on growth rate does not seem to be significantly influenced by treatment. However, some effects of treatment on carcass quality were found. Suilin treated pigs have higher lean% and ham% than untreated pigs. In addition, there seem to be a tendency that the treated pigs have better results on killing-out proportion, fat% and chilling loss%, even though there are little statistically significant differences. As a conclusion, the general effects of Suilin are to reduce backfat thickness while having some additive effects on carcass quality and little effect on growth rate.
