In this paper, the flow characteristics through a butterfly valve used flow control system have been numerically investigated. Valve used in-pipe line needs know how mush pressure will be drop. There are two methods, by which we can study these characteristics, one is by experiment and other is by numerical analysis is more convenient in these cases. In our study, we are used commensal code CFX11.0, for obtaining flow characteristics. The flow through the valve is analyzed using turbulent model SST(shear stress transport). Also an experimented set up has been fabricated to measure the flow coefficient (c<SUB>v</SUB>). By the comparison of numerical and experiment result. We concluded that CFX can estimate flow characteristic mush accurately. In this study shows that Large pressure drop is found in region high vorticity. Therefore we need to consider this data with more care when designing hydraulic equipments.
