The purpose of this paper is to achieve volume and weight minimization while maintaining same level of performance by performing optimization of a CoFe alloy core applied EPS(Electric Power Steering) motor. First, magnetic circuit optimization is conducted using magnetic equivalent circuit method. The core of this paper is to conduct magnetic circuit optimization while maintaining the same level of performance with same input. Other conditions such as rotor shape, PM(Permanent Magnet), number of turns, and etc. are maintained. After determining stator core sizes, optimization is conducted using RSM (Response Surface Method). Finally, an optimized model is suggested that is smaller in volume compared to a motor that uses electrical steel cores while maintaining the same level of performance

In this paper, flow and heat transfer characteristics of an brushless DC motor which is installed CMDPS(Column type Motor Driven Power Steering) are numerically analyzed three/two dimensional electromagnetic model and three-dimensional turbulence modeling. CMDPS is based on conventional steering system and it assist steering torque by motor, worm & worm wheel gear set. CDMPS motor is be heated by coil, stator core, magnet and rotor core because it is always operation and set on various situation in driving time. For the present study, parking situation is considered for boundary conditions (row RPM, high torque and natural convection at motor outside) because it is most severe heat conditions for motor. Heat loss of each parts is calculated by Maxwell and temperature characteristics are calculated Ansys and Star-CCM+.

인휠 구동시스템은 전기자동차의 패키징과 효율 향상 등의 장점을 가진다. 그리고, 모터가 휠 토크를 직접적으로 제어하고 각 휠이 기계적인 구속장치 없이 독립적으로 제어됨으로써, 다양한 샤시제어 및 엔진샤시간 통합제어를 통해 구현되는 기능들의 실현을 용이하게 한다. 본 논문에서는, 모터, 감속기, 인버터, 제어로직으로 구성되는 인휠 구동시스템을 개발, 차량에 적용하여 출력성능을 확인하고, 구동제어과 함께 TCS (구동시 미끌림방지 기능), 희생제동 기능의 구현에 관해 기술한다.

As enforced the regulation of fuel efficiency and increased the demand of green car, many interest are focused on electric vehicle and hybrid electric vehicle. Therefore, it is well known that the Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) plays an important role in electric direct-drive in-wheel traction system. This study describes the simulation method to predict the mechanical characteristics which is coupled with an electro-magnetic field of IPMSM. The simulation was performed in two steps based on the finite element analysis. In the first step, electro-magnetic forces and losses versus rotation angle of rotor were calculated using 2D electro-magnetic field analysis with the current inputs given from experiments. In the second step, the resultant forces and losses were applied to the rotor and stator in order to calculate mechanical characteristics (stress, temperature distribution, etc) at the operational condition of interest using transient analysis. To verify the results from analysis, an experiment was conducted under the same condition as numerical simulation, and their results were compared.
