        Idea Factory를 통한 산학 협력 연구 활동(소재의 적절한 선정을 통한 버터플라이 밸브 디스크의 최적화 모델링)

        This research is one of the Industry-University cooperation in idea factory of Korea Maritime and Ocean University. Idea factory of Korea Maritime and Ocean University is trying to train creative talented students and discover ingenious ideas. The contents are consisted of the possibility for the replacement of a metal valve disk to composite valve disk in butterfly valve based on the diversification. Purpose in this study is to predict failure field by each fly by appling Tsai-Wu Failure Index.

        Globalization of Engineering Education in Asia

        The Asian Conference on Engineering Education has organized and is held in Busan. This paper tells the steps for theprocess of planning of this conference. Firstly, The Innovation Center for Engineering Education in Korea Maritime Universityand the Center for Innovation and Creativity Development in The University of Tokushima signed the mutualinterchange agreement on engineering education in 2005. The interrelation of both centers has made a continuous relationby mutual visiting of teachers and students. The first symposium on engineering education between the two universitieswas held in 2006. Three symposia were succeeded until now. By the way, the Japanese five-university coalition of engineering education was composed in 2004. This five-university coalition annually held the symposium on engineeringeducation. Two teachers and two students of each university participated in the symposium and introduced their activities.Annual symposium was held every year from 2004 to 2008. Based on these two kinds of symposium, we have plannedto enlarge the relationship by including partner universities in both countries. The capstone design coalition on engineering education between the Center for Innovation and Creativity Development in the University of Tokushima and the innovationcenter for engineering education in Korea Maritime Universityare introduced. The interrelation of both centers has held bymutual visiting of teachers and students during four years. The capstone design activities of Korea Maritime University andthe students' creative design projects of the University of Tokushima were introduced each other. This coalition is plannedthat it needs to be enlarged by including partner universities in both countries.

        Future Design and Success Engineering in Global Society by Creative Self-innovation

        In this paper, we proposed “Future Design and Success Engineering in Global Society by Self-Innovation” (an abbreviatedname: FDSE). We started to make a small experiment between Korea Maritime University and Yamagata University at thecurrent year. After inspecting the results, especially, successful and unsuccessful points in our lecture, we have to develop the strong points and amend the week points, through making the analysis of success-failure, which is his favorite management method. We have to level up the contents of our work in the future. The students for this lecture would learn from experiences of “the common knowledge (common field of discussion)”, held common languages, common thought, common system. They filled up the blanks of “The Matrix Frame” which is mentioned in the previous report, and theyexpressed their own way of life (work, study). As a matter of course, their personal private affairs must not be made public.It is quite happy that the cultural, economical exchanges between Korea and Japan are now in full flourish and people doa lot of traveling each other. However, if this project will start on the educational global standard, we have a world-wide significance. Moreover, we can promote goodwill between Korea and Japan, and also we can contribute to a better international understanding and the peace of the world by students in both Universities. We hope that candidates for thislecture will have a rounded personality and be a life worthy of human being for realizing Self-Actualization in “Motivationand Personality” by Abraham Maslow.

        다구치 방법을 이용한 복합재료 자동차용 마찰재의 마찰특성에 관한 연구

        It has many variables and factors to design the friction materials for automotive brake pads. The purpose of this study is to develop the proper method for design of low-cost and to know friction characteristics of each raw materials. For the purpose of examining the effect of each major raw materials, we used the Taguchi L9(3$^4$)orthogonal matrix and 1/5 scale dynamo machine for evaluation of the friction characteristics of composite brake pads. By adapting the Taguchi method, it is easy to investigate the influence of each component in complicated composites friction materials. After analyzing the testing results by the Taguchi method, the effect of factors and levels influenced friction behavior was studied.

        소형 선박용 복합재료 축 설계를 위한 음력해석에 관한 연구

        It is known that the composite material shafts using on small boats have various advantages comparing to forged steel shafts, fur examples, specific strength, fatigue strength, corrosion, etc. The analysis of the stresses and strains in the composite material shafts made by filament winding method is presented in this paper. The classical laminated plate theory is applied on the patch cut from the composite material hollow shafts. It is verified that the composite material hollow shafts of diameter 40 mm is the most optimum when the ratio of the inner diameter to the outer is 0.4 and winding angle is 45$^{\circ}$. It is also proven that the shear strain does not change seriously between 30$^{\circ}$and 60$^{\circ}$of winding angles. It is dangerous when the winding angle is over 75$^{\circ}$because the values of shear strain and stress produced on the shaft are too high so it must be avoided to wind the filament by the angle over 75$^{\circ}$.

        Construction of a Web-based e-Teaching Portfolio for the Efficient Management

        This study presents an analysis of the current situation (management, approach, adjustment, transportation, and others) of teaching portfolio by examining the teaching portfolio managers (staffs, researchers, teaching assistants, etc.) of 6 universities in the southeast of Korea. The rationale for the study focus is that the existing teaching portfolio either suffers a problem in the transportation, approach, adjustment and/or management or is likely to raise a problem in the future. In order to solve this problem, this study builds a web-based e-teaching portfolio. According to the analysis results, the engineering education system was established in all 6 universities (Ed- note that ‘6 universities’ has already been specified as the study sample). The teaching portfolio was partially digitalized in this system, despite some problems of converting analog data into digital data, which induced difficulties in constructing the overall e-teaching portfolio. Therefore, this study focused on constructing an e-teaching portfolio without developing any additional system by using the existing system positively, and also on determining the appropriate components among the existing teaching portfolio components. Accordingly, in order to convert the analog data into the digital data required for this study, we used a digital camera as the conversion device and converted the teaching portfolio components into those appropriate for the e-teaching portfolio. Finally, we constructed an existing system appropriate for the e-teaching portfolio by using these devices and components.

        A Practice of Developing New Environment-friendly System by Composites

        This study intends to study about the blade performance loss occurred due to the variation in the shape of an airfoil from attachment/non-attachment of an erosion shield for the hovercraft. The model in this study has used NACA44XX-series, has designed NACA44XX-series by using the Auto CAD, and it designed the shape that has attached an erosionshield to this model according to the thickness and length. By using these models, a grid was generated by GAMBIT and the lift coefficient (Cl) and the drag coefficient (Cd) were calculated FLUENT code for flow analysis. Through this, theCl and Cd have calculated and compared the lift-to-drag ratio that an indicator of airfoil performance according to the shapeand attachment/non-attachment of erosion shield.

        Development of Green Campus for K-12 Education in Viewpoint of Facility, Environment, Education and Consciousness

        In Korea Maritime University facilities, environment, education and awareness about the Green Campus has been studiedin the field. Based on this, domestic and foreign universities and the benchmarking of the environmental characteristics ofour university campus environment, the composition of the plan were considered. In this study, based on what our universities have links with the community on what was discussed a lot about. In our university campus tour aimed at youngpeople plan green, and sustainable management measures have been studied.
