The scroll compressor with alternative refrigerant has been developed and generally main rotational shaft of it has been supported by oilless bearing. This paper deals with the development of oilless bearing reliability tester and investigation of the frictional characteristics of it. The coefficient of friction has been calculated from the measured normal force and torque of shaft under various speeds, loads and pressures. Especially, the effects of test parameters was evaluated for the life of oilless bearings.

The ball bearing with thin-section raceways which is much lighter than other conventional bearings is used in most modern passenger cars and small trucks. The important design parameters of this bearing is the groove radius of raceways, the diametral clearance, the free contact angle and so on. The optimal value of these parameters were determined considering the dynamic load capacity, the contact angle and the calculated fatigue life. The contact angle of a ball and raceways was calculated by considering the local contact deformation and the structural deformation of thin-section raceways which was estimated by FEM. The raceway was made by means of the press-forming process. The fatigue life test were executed and the reliability of this bearing was confirmed.<br/>

The reliability, that is Long-Term Quality, require an approaching different from Short-Term Quality which is used before. As the electronic components are able to be easily normalized on the reliability testing, various testing standards are used. In this study, we proposed two reliability simulator that is PoF(Physics of Failure)-based and failure rate models-based. PoF-based simulator is introduced based on CalceEP program that is created by University of Maryland. This simulator can be modified by user interface of properties and PoF models and operated on stand alone system. Failure rate models-based simulator introduced according to analyzing reliability prediction documents. Also, unified database including failure data models is built from existing MIL-HDBK-217F N2, PRISM, and Bellcore, and web-based simulator is developed. The developed reliability simulator will service of the PoF model, properties, failure rate model accumulated and its data by web and internet.

An air spring which is a part of the railroad vehicle suspension system is used to reduce and absorb the vibration and the noise. Main components of the air spring are a cord reinforced rubber bellows, a upper plate, a lower plate and a stopper rubber spring. The characteristics of the air spring which are the load capacity, the vertical and the horizontal stiffness are determined by the configuration of the rubber bellows, the angle of cord, and the mechanical properties of cord. Computer simulations using a commercial finite element analysis codes are executed to predict and evaluate the load capacity and the stiffness. The appropriate shape and cord angle of the air spring are selected to meet the required specifications of the air spring. Several samples of the air spring are manufactured and experimentally evaluated. It is shown that the results by computer simulation are in close agreement with the test results.

N/A A rubber diaphragm is a critical element of accumulators. The material of a diaphragm is nitrite rubber so as to recover and adjust the large deformation under external pressure fluctuation. The performance of accumulators is influenced by the deformation behaviors of the diaphragm. A large deformation behavior of the diaphragm has been investigated using the commercial finite element program MARC K7.1. The several elastic moduli have been used in linear analysis and Ogden`s coefficients have been used in non-linear analysis. As a result, it has been shown that the deformation behavior with a elastic modulus of 0.3 ㎏/㎟ is similar to the behavior of non-linear analysis. And, the modified diaphragm shape to reduce the stress concentration has been proposed.

The air spring is used in secondary suspension system for railway vehicle to reduce and absorb the vibration and noise. In this paper, the characteristics and durability test was conducted in laboratory by using servo hydraulic fatigue testing system to evaluate the reliability. And to guarantee the adaptation of this air spring, the ride comfort and air pressure variation were measured in train test. The experimental results show that the characteristics and durability of domestic development productions are obtained the good results and the stiffness of the air spring which had become 6 year over increased. Also, the dynamic characteristics of domestic and existing product agree well the results obtained.
