The magnetic properties of the amorphous Fe_(73.5-x)Co_xCo₁Nb₃Si_(13.5)B_9(x=2, 4) alloys, fabricated by a single roll rapid quenching technique and annealed at 400~650 ℃, have been investigated. The optimum annealing temperature is 550 ℃ for the amorphous Fe_(71.5)Co₂Cu₁Nb₃Si_(13.5)B_9 alloy. The properties of the nanocrystalline Fe_(71.5)Co₂Cu₁Nb₃Si_(13.5)B_9 alloy show the relative permeability of 1.1×10⁴ and the coercive force of 0.22 Oe at 1 ㎑. When annealed at 600 ℃, the nanocrystalline Fe_(69.5)Co₄Cu₁ Nb₃Si_(13.5)B_9 alloy shows the relative permeability of 1.0×10⁴ and the coercive force of 0.19 Oe at 1 ㎑. From the X-ray measurement, it is found that the remarkably improved soft magnetic properties are the effect of the formation of α-Fe(Si) grain. By the results of FMR experiment, the optimum annealing condition is just below temperature which the peak-to-peak line width of FMR spectrum increase rapidly.

For amorphous Co_(1-x)Ti_x(X=0.13, 0.16, 0.21 at.%) thin films deposited by DC magnetron sputtering method ferromagnetic resonance experiments have been used to investigate the dependence of surface magnetic properties according to annealing temperature (150~225℃). Spin wave resonance spectra for all annealing temperatures consist of several volume modes and one (or two) surface mode. It is suggested that both surfaces of the film have a perpendicular hard axis to the film plane (negative surface anisotropy). Also, the surface anisotropy K_(s2) at substrate-film interface is varied slowly from -0.11 to -0.25 erg/㎠ and the surface anisotropy K_(s1) at film-air interface is varied from 0.16 to -0.53 erg/㎠ with increasing annealing temperature. We conjecture that the variation of surface anisotropy K_(s1) is due to the increase of Co concentration resulted from Ti oxidation for low temperature annealing(150~200℃) and the diffusion of Co atoms near the film surfaces for high temperature annealing (225~250℃).

To investigate the influence of the Hf concentration and the annealing effect in Co_(1-x)Hfx (X=0.16, 0.24 at. %) systems, ferromagnetic resonance experiments have been carried out. Spin wave resonance spectra for all samples consist of several volume modes and one (or two) surface mode. It is suggested that both surfaces of the film have a perpendicular hard axis to the film plane (negative surface anisotropy). The surface anisotropy K_(S2) at substrate-film interface is varied slowly from -0.07 to-0.32 erg /㎠ and the surface anisotropy K_(S1) at film-air interface is varied from 0.18 to -0.47 erg /㎠ with increasing annealing temperature in the amorphous CO_(84)Hf_(16) thin films. Also, the surface anisotropy K_(S2) is varied slowly from -0.31 to -0.41 erg /㎠ and the surface anisotropy K_(S1) is varied from -0.19 to -0.60 erg /㎠ with increasing annealing temperature in the amorphous Co_(76)Hf₂₄ thin films. We conjecture that the variation of surface anisotropy K_(S1) is due to the increase of Co concentration resulted from Hf oxidation for low tempera ture annealing (150~175℃) and the diffusion of Co atoms near the film surfaces for high temperature annealing (200~225℃).

In order to investigate the annealing effect for RF magnetron sputtered Ni_(83)Fe_(17) thin films, we have studied the spin wave behaviors by FMR after annealing the samples at 135℃, 225℃ in air and at 160℃, 220℃, 330℃, 390℃ and 420℃ in argon gas for one hour respectively. In FMR spectra for the films annealed in argon gas and the as-sputtered film at perpendicular resonance, only odd number spin waves are observed. But even number spin waves are observed for the film annealed in air at 225 ℃ because of the large difference between both surface magnetic anisotropy. In the case of the sample annealed at 420℃ in argon gas, the spin waves are shifted toward high field, can due to the increase of saturation magnetization during annealing. The spacings between the spin wave resonance fields are narrowed rapidly, this is thought that the magnetic homogeneity increased in the film after annealing at high temperature.

The magnetic properties of RF magnetron sputtered Co_(79)Cr₂₁(at.%) thin film have been examined by using of ferromagnetic resonance. The properties of Co_(79)Cr₂₁ thin film show the effective first order anisotropy constant of 2.91 × 10^5 erg / ㎤, the effective anisotropy field of 2526 Oe, and the spectroscopic splitting factor of 2.17. The torque experimental results, analyzed by employing modified Artman method, coincide with the ferromagnetic resonance experimental results.

Ferromagnetic resonance experiment was performed to study the variations of micromagnetic structure with heat treatment of melt spun Fe_(76)CU₁Nb₃Si₁₄B_6 alloy for 1h at every 50 ℃ in the temperature range of 400 ℃ 700 ℃. The variations of micromagnetic structure was discussed qualitatively in terms of the variations of line width △Hp-p and resonance magnetic field Hres. With increasing annealing temperature to 400 ℃, △Hp-p decreases and Hres increases due to the decrease in magnetic anisotropy resulting from structural relaxation during heat treatment. With increasing annealing temperature from 400 to 500 ℃, △Hp-p increases and Hres decreases due to the increase in magnetic anisotropy resulting from the formation of nanocrystalline particles embedded in an amorphous matrix. With increasing annealing temperature from 500 to 550 ℃, △Hp-p decreases and Hres increases due to the decrease in magnetic anisotropy resulting from the formation of homogeneous nanocrystalline structure with a minor amorphous phase. Further increase in annealing temperature above 550 ℃ causes △Hp-p to increase and Hres to decrease due to the increase in magnetic anisotropy due to the formation of inhomogeneous grain structure and intermetallic compounds.

Fe-Si-C alloy system has been made by mechancial alloying process. The structural and magnetic propeties were analysed as a function of processing times. The structural properties were investigated by X-ray diffraction and EXAFS experiments. The magnetic properties were measured by vibrating sample magnetometer and Mossbauer spectroscopy. As processing time increases, Si and C atoms diffuse into a α-Fe structure and then bcc solid solution is formed after 12 hours of the processing time. The magnetization and the hyper fine field decreased steeply up to 4 hours and then it changed slowly. After 12 hours of the processing time, it almost saturated. These results were agreed with the structural variation.

The ferromagnetic resonance study of the magnetostatic wave modes for an YIG thin film, grown by a liquid phase epitaxy method, was performed by an FMR spectrometer at room temperature. The magnetostatic surface wave and backward volume wave modes show periodic excitations in parallel configuration, whereas the complex spectra were observed in perpendicular configuration. The resonance spectra in parallel configuration can be well explained by the Walker and Damon-Eshbach theory. The peak-peak line width of uniform mode was 0.4 Oe. The saturation magnetization Ms of the YIG thin film was calculated as 137 emu/㎤. In order to know the dependence of the magnetostatic modes as a function of the saturation magnetization and the thickness, the (1,1) and (3,1) modes of the magnetostatic backward volume wave were compared and theoretically calculated.

Ni-Fe thin films are deposited on the corning glass substrate by means of RF magnetron sputtering system In order to investigate the dependence of the prorerties of Ni-Fe thin films on the film thickness, ferromagnetic resonance spectrum has been examined. The effective magnetization Meff is constant for all samples, while the exchange stiffness constant A increases with the film thickness. A tendency that spectroscopic splitting factor g increases with the sample thickness, we expect that the increase of the contribution of the orbital motion to the magnetic moment as a reason for it.
