The adsorption of N-(butoxymfthyl)-2-chloro-2r , 6r _diethyl acetanilide(butachlor) as affectedby pH and temperature was studiea on catiol and anion exfhanTe resins. Thf pH influence onthe adsorption of butachlor on these adsorbents was not observed. The adsorption of the chemicalluas greater with increafing temperature (endothermic) and the temperature effect was greateron the cation exchange reEin than on the anion exchange resin.

The adsorption of butachlor [2-chloro-2',6'-diethyl N-(butoxy methyl) ] acetanilide by cation-and anion-exchange resins, 9% artificial organic soil, Pohang montmorillonite soil and Pohang kaolinite soil, and its desorption with water has been investigated by the use of electron capture gas chroma-tographic analysis of n-hexane extracts from aqueous solution. 1. Butachlor was adsorbed by the adsorbents, the order being anion exchange resin Pohang monl-morillonite soil≥ 9% artificial organic soil ≥ cation exchane resin. There was a little adsorption of butachlor by Pohang kaolinite soil. 2.the compound adsorbed by the cation exchange resin and by the kaolinite soil was more readily desorbed with deionized water than was by the montmorillonite soil. Almost none of the chemical adsorbed by the anion exchange resin and by the 9% artificial organic soil was desorbed by equilib-rating with water.
