This research traces how the Western educational system, the model of Qing`s educational reformation, was introduced in late Qing and explores the path and content of the educational reformation in late Qing dynasty. The introduction of Western educational system approaches from two different directions. One of those comes from Western missionary and the other comes from Chinese elites who have explored the western culture. The Western missionaries propose China`s educational reformation as a part of their mission and introduce the Western educational system, which later triggers the China`s educational reformation. They endeavor to enlighten Chinese society and improve cultural standards through educational reformation. German missionary E. Faber propagates the idea of ``無地無學, 無 事非學, 無人不學``, meaning there is no place without school, process of learning and people getting no education in a country, and asserts that Germany has the perfect educational system. Timothy Richard advertises the educational system consists of elementary, middle and high school by introducing European, American and Japanese educational system. Moreover, he also presents that Country must support partial educational costs. American missionary, Young John Allen, states that China should model after America or Japan and embrace the Western educational system like Japan did. Moreover, he also states that women, future mothers who cultivate next generations of talents, also must be educated. Meanwhile, Chinese, who have experienced Western culture, pay close attention to western educational system as diplomatic delegations and as liable elites with serious concerns about problems in China. They present enforcement of compulsory education regardless of gender and class, nationwide school system connecting elementary, middle school and college, the emphasis on natural sciences and many more. The Western educational system introduced by these people plays an important role in establishing objective and direction of modern Chinese educational reformation.

This study aims to present feminist strategies of British feminist playwrights, especially focusing on Caryl Church and Pam Gems. They have similar life experiences and personal problems, for example, they always struggle between their job as playwrights and their duty as housewives and mothers. In their plays, they also deal with the struggles based on their experiences and the problems of woman oppression. As social feminists, they think capitalism has given men economic power to oppress and dominate women. To solve the issues of oppression and dominance between the genders, they believe that women should have jobs which will provide themselves with independent financial means and self-reliance. In Owners, Churchill emphasizes motherhood as her feminist strategy. Through Lisa who is a mother, Churchill insists that women must have both economic power to be free from male oppression and motherhood to transcend and embrace many problems that exist in capitalist society. In this play, Churchill proves that women should have jobs to be independent and have motherhood to care and help the others as well. She thinks motherhood can be a real powerful method to overcome isolation and negative products of capitalism. In Dusa, Fish, Star and Vi, Gems emphasizes sisterhood. Dusa, Fish, Stas and Vi show their sisterhood to help each other and encourage them to solve their problems and overcome their difficulties with men in a patriarchal society. Through the successful self-reliance of Dusa, Stas and Vi, and the suicide of Fish, sisterhood among women is more helpful than political movements with men to raise women`s rights and status in society. In this play, sisterhood in women communities can be an effective feminist strategy by strengthening women`s mental growth and self-reliance in a patriarchal society. Churchill and Gems have common ideas that oppression of women traditionally originate from economic discrepancies between the genders, so women having jobs will be one way of freeing themselves from their subordination to men. And also women must preserve and cherish their sisterhood or motherhood, which can solve not only the women`s own problems but also the problems which stem from capitalism. Although Churchill and Gems have different ideas in Owners and Dusa, Fish, Stas and Vi, they think that motherhood or sisterhood can be effective and ideal feminist strategies.

This article aims to compare viewpoints on women in the works of Shakespeare, Dryden and Shaw. These three playwrights wrote at different times - the Renaissance, Neo-classical and Victorian Periods - with different ideas about women. However, they all wrote plays based on Cleopatra's story, so their ideas on women can be revealed by comparison of their Cleopatras. Shakespeare had two viewpoints on women, one was conservative and the other was progressive. His Cleopatra is very aggressive and active, but she did not overcome the challenge of succeeding in a man's world. Shakespeare accepted women's positive aspects but refused too much challenge for his society's safety and well-being. Dryden, with a conservative viewpoint on women, created a Cleopatra who was quite different from the historical one. His Cleopatra was very passive and submissive, which were considered as ideal women's qualities at that time. Shaw presented the development of Cleopatra from a girl to a queen in his work. He believed that women's qualities could be progressive, and that women could even be better than men if they were educated. He had positive ideas about women and acknowledged their possibilities. In conclusion, we can see three playwrights' women in their plays. Shakespeare's Cleopatra was progressive as well as traditional. Dryden's Cleopatra was a traditional one who was quite different from an original one. Shaw had a progressive idea of women, so his Cleopatra showed possibilities and potentials as a queen as well as a woman.
