This paper presents a new a trunk frame structure for convertible vehicles. The trunk frame for the convertibles should be opened in two directions: the rear open for the luggage storage; the front open for stowing the retractable roof. For the conventional convertibles, a horizontal frame that supports the opening mechanism is usually installed across the trunk. The sub-mechanisms that enable the opening function are assembled onto the frame. In this study, we suggested a new trunk mechanism for the convertible vehicles. The main frame of the trunk is removed and the two sub-frames are directly connected to the vehicle body, which is designed to be lighter and simpler than the conventional ones.

The multi linkage mechanism needs numerous analysis and repetitive design processes to find the optimal design. Typically, parameter study is performed to find such design. However, this process demands more time during designing, and has a difficulty to meet many constraints. In order to mitigate this problem, this study instead applies the meta-model-based designing process to the multi linkage mechanism. The processes divide into three phases. The first phase is to create a base model of multi linkage mechanism. The second phase is to create generate a meta model. An experiment point is constructed based on the forty-four design variables and Latin Hyper Cube(LHC) Design of Experiments(DOE). The last phase is to find the optimal solution that meets constraints and objectives by using an optimization algorithm. This study also seeks robustness in optimization and design by considering each variable’"s difference.

The survey on the convertible roof system is introduced in this study. Various automotive companies in Europe, United states, and Japan have produced the conventional vehicles for several decades and the convertibles are very common in the foreign countries in these days. Although the demand for the convertible vehicles has been increased in Korea, the development of the original convertible vehicles are on its beginning stage. In order to develop the convertible vehicle, the roof system design for the convertible vehicles are essential and the research on the roof system should be conducted. In this paper, the convertible roof systems in conventional convertibles are discussed. The type and the mechanism of convertible roof systems are explained and compared. The direction of roof system research is also proposed.

In this study establish, The FE model can reproduce the door sagging and providing analysis techniques that can predict the door sagging. In addition, the impact was analyzed door sagging cause. In addition Door sagging was selected the factors that cause. Also The Sagging of the vehicle body between bead and cross-sectional shape were analyzed. Shown below for details. The FE model build that Door sagging phenomenon can reproduce. Also there is always an issue about Door sagging problem. To find a main cause of door sagging we analyze 2kinds of sectional properties, and validate top 3 parts affect door sagging. As a result of research we can find how to reduce Door sagging with an engineering calculation base. Through the relationship analysis capable of reducing the Door sagging, will be able to determine the effective door sagging. Then Watch early in the design phase will be designed taking into account the Door sagging.
