The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of mechanical properties on handle of fabrics for some of the Korean women``s clothes. 160 different kinds of commercial silk and polyester fabrics were used for this study. Mechanical properties were measured by the KES-FB fabric testing systems and six hand values, suggested by HESC, had been judged by the experts in factories, so called by means of hand judgements. and also, the technique of stepwise-block-regression method was applied to investigate relationship between sensory and mechanical properties. Finally, we have obtained useful formulas for calculation the hand values of fabrics for Korean clothes.

This study was accomplished to investigate drape coefficient and wrinkle recovery of brushed fabrics according to treatment processes and brushing conditions. For this study, grey fabrics of blended ratio of polyester 65%: cotton 35% were bleached and dyed. These fabrics were then brushed 1, 3, 5 and 7 times. Drape coefficient and wrinkle recovery of brushed fabrics were measured by drape tester and shirley crease recovery tester respectively. The experimental results were analysed statistically to relate mechanical properties, handle, drapability, and wrinkle recovery. 1) Drape coefficients of dyed fabric showed lower values and wrinkle recovery showed higher ones than those of bleached and dyed fabrics. Especially dyed fabric brushed 3 times showed good appearance and form stability. 2) Considering the blocked properties that contribute to the drape coefficient and wrinkle recovery of brushed fabrics, bending and shearing properties had a high degree of correlation with brushed fabrics, +??, B/W, ,??, 2HG/G, and 2HB/W showed a high positive correlation with drape coefficient and a high negative correlation with wrinkle recovery.

This study was accomplished to investigate the mechanical properties and handle according to treatment processes and brushing condition. For this study, grey fabrics of blended ratio of polyester 65%: cotton 35% were bleached and dyed. These fabrics were then brushed 1, 3, 5 and 7 times. The mechanical properties were measured with a KES-F system and the mechanical data were then transformed into hand values by the conversion equation, that is, KN-201-MDY. The results obtained by the analysis are as follows; 1) The variation of mechanical properties was remarkable in the initial brushing of 1∼3 cycles for all of grey, bleached and dyed fabrics. The values of RT, 2HB, B, G, 2HG5, MMD and SMD were decreased and MIU, WC and T were increased with the increase of number of brushing. 2) LT, B, 2HB, G, 2HG, 2HG5, MMD, SMD and W of dyed fabrics which is coincident with the end use showed lower values than those of grey or bleached fabrics, but MIU, WC and T were higher. 3) From the variation of hand value, stiffness of dyed fabric showed lower value than that of grey or bleached fabric. On the other hand, smoothness, soft feeling and total hand values of dyed fabric were higher. Especially, dyed fabric showed the highest total value at the 3 cycles of brushing condition.

The situation of wearing of surgery gown and their awareness were surveyed to clinicians and nurses in operation rooms of major university hospitals in the country to develop and manufacture surgery gowns for medical personnels. The survey result was quantified to be used as a base data for design of surgery gowns with freshness and convenience as well as safety to wearers. In the inspection of surgery gowns focused on materials (cotton raw material and disposable nonwoven) and dissatisfaction, there was no significance in the activity and freshness with p-).745 and p-0.367, respectively, however, there was a significance in safety and management with p-0.011 and 0.049, respectively: disposable nonwoven gown showed higher satisfaction level in safety and management compared to cotton gowns.

The mechanical properties of jean slacks to the type of cutting lines in knee region and the bending time, after doing bending 0 times, 500 times, and 1500 times, the effects of whether or not cutting line, the fabric direction of the cutting area, and the number of cutting lines were investigated for tensile, shearing, compression, and mixing value of mechanical properties. The results are as follows: EM to bending times were larger in order of weft<wp/wf 1<wp/wp 1<warp<wp/wf <wp/wp 2<bias. G to bending times were influenced by the number of cutting lines to the shearing which entails tensile property more than bi-axel. Regardless of fabric direction, the sample of 2 cutting line showed very lower G than 1 cutting line sample. WC to bending times were larger for wp/wpl sample than other samples. RC to bending times decreased for 1 cutting line sample but increased continuously for 2 cutting line sample except at the times of 1000. 2HG/G, the combination of mechanical properties decreased as bending times increased. W/T were small in 1 cutting line sample, both before and after bending. As to shrinking of cut area after 1500 time bending, wp/wf 1 sample showed larger shrinking in weft than in warp. The shrinking of wp/wf 2 sample were larger in weft. wp/wp 1 and wp/wp 2 samples showed equal shrinking in warp and weft.

This study was carried out to evaluate the distribution of mechanical and thermal properties of 14 sorts of tencel fabrics. Three kinds of cellulosic fabrics such as cotton 100%, cotton/tencel 50/50% and rayon 100% were used to compare with tencel fabrics. Furthermore, for the comparison of thermal properties, these fabrics were repeatedly washed 1, 3, 5, 10, 15 and 20 times respectively The mechanical properties were measured by the KES-FB system and Thereto Labo II type was employed to measure the thermal properties of warmth retaining and contact warm/cool feeling(q_(max)). The experimental results were analysed statistically to relate the mechanical and thermal properties. Tencel showed sufficient ability to recover from bending deformation and drapability comparing with other cellulosic fabrics and had a silhouette which goes along with the body.
