The irregularities in the guideways used in the Maglev transportation system that result from surface roughness and deflection of guideway have strong effects on the dynamic characteristics of Maglev vehicles, because the electromagnetic suspension of Maglev vehicles strongly interacts with the guideway. For this reason, a numerical prediction of air gap responses to these irregularities is desirable to improve aspects of running performance, such as stability and passenger comfort, while minimizing aesthetic impact and construction cost. This paper presents a procedure to predict the air gap response which is a criteria for stability, and investigates the responses with the goal of attaining higher travel speeds in the urban Maglev vehicle UTM-01 utilizing electromagnetic suspension.

The electromagnet in Maglev vehicles controls the voltage in its winding to maintain the air gap, a clearance between the electromagnet and guideway, within an allowable deviation, with strongly interacting with the flexible guideway. Thus, the vibration characteristics of guideway plays important role in dynamics of Maglev vehicles using electromagnet as an active suspension system. The effects of the guideway's vibrational characteristics on dynamics of the Maglev vehicle UTM-01 are analyzed. The coupled equations of motion of the vehicle/guideway with 3 DOFs are derived. Eigenvalues are calculated and frequency response analysis is also performed for a clear understanding of the dynamic characteristics due to guideway vibration characteristics. To verify the results, tests of the urban Mgalev vehicle UTM-02 are carried out. It is recommended that the natural frequency of the guideway be minimized and its damping ratio in the Maglev vehicle with a 5-states feedback control law as a levitation control law.

This paper describes tagline PD control for reduction of motion for the heavy cargo(load) suspended by a floating crane. The equations of motion are set up considering the 6-degree-of-freedom floating crane and the 6-degree-of-freedom load based on multi-body system dynamics. The tagline mechanism is applied to floating crane to control motion of the heavy cargo(load). The winch, mounted on the deck of floating crane, is used to control the tension of tagline. To generate control force, PD control algorithm is applied. Numerical simulation and experiment is executed to verify the tagline control mechanism. The numerical simulation and experiment shows that the tagline control mechanism reduces the motion of the load suspended by a floating crane.

Since Maglev vehicle is run over an elevated guideway, the structural properties of guideways affect the running behavior of the vehicle and guideway. The design of a guideway has a strong effect on the costs of constructing guideways, therefore optimized design of the guideway satisfying running performance is needed for the commercialization of the Maglev vehicle. With an analysis program for dynamics of Maglev vehicles, the dynamic responses of the Maglev vehicle with electromagnet suspension are numerically analyzed according to changes in fundamental modal damping ratio of a guideway.

N/A Objectives: Recently, lipoprotein (a) is known as an independent genetic risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Lipoprotein (a) contains a unique structure, apolipoprotein(a), that shares a partial homology with plasminogen without haboring enzymatic activity. Several in vitro studies reported that lipoprotein(a) competes with plgsminogen for their receptors showing inhibited thrombolysis and promoted thrombosis. We investigated whether evalvuated that lipoprotein(a) has same properties in vivo by determining the homeostatic relation between lipoprotein(a) concentration and several parameters of thrombosis and thrombolysis, and whether parameters of thrombosis and thrombolysis are different in atherosclerotic vascular diseases. Methods: Lipoprotein(a), fibrinogen, plasminogen, FDP-d, antithrombin-III, prothrombin time, activated partial thromboplastin time, tissue-type plasminogen activator, alpha-2 antiplasmin, plaminogen activator inhibitor-l, platelet counts, and other lipid profiles were measured and were compared each others by venous samles in 239 cases with atherosclerotic vascular disease which consisted of 146 cases of coronary heart disease, 39 cases of non-hemorrhagic cerebral infarction, and 10 cases of arteriosclerosis obliterans and in 185 cases without atherosclerotic vascular disease., Results: There was neither significant homeostatic relationship between lipoprotein(a) levels and paramets d thrombolysis, nor between lipids levels and parameters of thrombosis and thrombolysis. Serum lipoprotein(a) levels were higher in patients with myocardial infarction than in those with non- atherosclerotic vascular disease(30.0±28.2mg vs 23.8±21.4mg/dl). Among the thrombogenic and thrombolytic parameters, only tPA and FDP-d were significantly elevated in patients with atherosclerotic vascular disease. Conclusion: The findings that lipoprotien(a) was not correlated with thrombogenic and thrombolytic profiles in vivo suggests that lipoprotein(a) is not related to thrombogenicity in Korean people, al- though lipoprotein(a) is a independent genetic risk factor for carodiovascular disease.
