In this paper, we introduce the Partial Half-Through Type Plate Girder Bridge proposed by Hyundai Development Co. and KRTC Consortium in Turn-Key Based design last year, and this type of bridge may be adapted to the railway bridge under similar conditions. This bridge across the North Han River was to be concerned its fine view and the protection of water source. For its location is inside the dam, it required the long span and the clearance for the flood also. Its new composite section was able to diminish the deflection and vibration. Its shop-fabrication could control its quality easily, and might to be launched. This structural type have satisfied its functions, construction situations, and overall safeties, so this is the field-oriented type. However the composition and connections of the proposed members are different to the recent forms, and difficult to be applied to present specifications. Therefore it requires a certification on the application for more safety by not only analytical verifications but also experimental studies. Nevertheless, this type of bridge may have some more applications from now on.

Concrete and shotcrete should withstand the conditions for which they have been designed, without deterioration, over a period of years. But concrete and shotcrete are being deteriorated according to aging by internal and external causes. Recently, many studies on the durability of concrete have been conducted. But the durability of shotcrete is rarely studied. So, in this study, chloride ion penetration test, freeze and thaw test, neutralization test were conducted to examine the durability characteristics of shotcrete with several accelerator and chemical admixture types. These results indicate that shotcrete with alkali free accelerator and with superplasticizer are durable. Therefore, the present study provides a firm base to make high performance shotcrete.

Using of steel box girder bridges have been used a tendency to increase for workability and economic reasons. For maintenance and management of these bridges, manholes are needed for route. (But installation of manholes causes a loss of area of section. It is developed with stiffness down and stress concentration.) By way of prevention, it is reinforced with attachments and stiffeners or its shape strengthened by as aspect in geometry. Sometimes it is over-estimated and excessive reinforcing at a welding cost follows. In this paper, both experimental and analytical results are performed to verify the behavior of a steel box girder bridge under increasing dead loads. Furthermore, there is some structural analysis on several manhole types of diaphragm, which reflect the real effect of the support. The presentation in this paper is ultimately the most reasonable and economical reinforcing method for the manhole of a diaphragm is a steel box girder bridge.

There has been an increased interest in the Longitudinally Profiled(LP) plate as a structural element for bridges, due to its advantage to efficiently distribute the sectional force applied to the structure. The advantage also includes the reduction of weight and the number of welding points. The LP plate was originally developed in Europe, and the application has since increased rapidly on steel bridges in Europe and Japan. Though widely used internationally, much of the study for the structural application of the LP plate is yet to be performed. In this paper, the workability of the LP plate was evaluated by the tests for tensile and bending. In addition, the stability was reviewed and verified by a comparison between experimental and analytical results. The economical efficiency was also examined for different section types by finite element analysis.

Though PC strands have been in use from old times to supplement the material weakness of concrete, they were time dependently relaxed by unavoidable factors; such as cracks, creeps, shrinkages, and defects of concrete itself. Then the structures lose same original design tensile forces. So many strands acre not working its function satisfactory. To repair and reinforce this relaxed structure, its strands or structure itself has more to strain again. The demanded cost of this work is relatively very high in comparison with the quantity of materials to settle. It makes that bridge manager may apply this work after those problems frequently appeared. Therefore, in this study, the fixed anchorage system is proposed for external post tension by some reinforcing bars that are easily able to purchase in our neighborhood. This study also have examined the shape of body and wing of coupler to avoid the stress concentration in this system.
