2010년 9월에 서해안 지역에서 양식중인 미꾸라지 중 체표와 꼬리지느러미에 직경 약 2 mm 크기의 유백색 포낭이 여러 개가 형성되어 상품으로 보기 흉한 미꾸라지 1미를 발견하여 포낭을 조사한 바, 점액포자충, Thelohanellus misgurni (Kudo, 1919)의 기생에 의한 것으로 밝혀졌다. 가슴지느러미 기부와 꼬리지느러미에 다량의 포낭이 형성됨으로써 지느러미의 기능을 할 수 없기 때문에 병어는 점차 쇠약해져서 폐사될 것으로 사료된다. On September in 2010, myxosporidian parasites were found on the fins of Chinese muddy loach, Misgurnus mizolepis. Several cysts of approximately 2 mm diameter were observed on the fins. Numerous spores were found in the cyst. The total length of the spore was 13.0 to 15.8 ㎛, and the width of spore was 6.0 to 7.5 ㎛. As the results, the myxosporidians were finally identified as Thelohanellus misgurni (Kudo, 1919) on the basis of the presence of characteristic cysts and size of spores.
중국에서 수입된 잉어 및 붕어의 잉어부종바이러스병 및 허피스바이러스성 조혈기괴사증 모니터링

In this study, carp edemavirus disease and herpesviral hematopoietic necrosis were examined in carp (Cyprinus carpio) and crucian carp (Carassius auratus) imported from China. From August 2016 to May 2017, 100 carp and 300 crucian carp were examined. There were no clinical symptoms in all the tested fish, and no internal or external parasitic infections were identified except for the detection of Argulus sp. in one leather carp. Carp edema virus disease was examined by PCR in C. carpio, but all were negative. In C. auratus, herpesviral hematopoietic necrosis was tested by PCR and 4 out of 300 were positive. The results of this study are expected to be useful as basic data for conducting risk analysis on the relevant organisms and counterpart countries or for designating new pathogens for quarantine.

Pseudolepidapedon kobayashii collected from the alimentary canal of the olive flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus, which were caught at the Chinhae Bay, was reported for the first time in Korea, and P. olivaceus was recorded as a new host for P. kobayshii. The morphological characteristics of P. kobayashii were described and compared with the other species in the genus. 남해안에 서식하는 넙치의 장에서 이생흡충류에 속하는 Pseudolepidapedon kobayashii 1종을 국내에서 처음 기록하였으며, 넙치는 이 기생충의 새로운 종숙주로 밝혀졌다. 본 논문에서는 P. kobayashii의 형태학적 특징들을 기술하였고 같은 속내의 다른 종들과 형태학적 차이점을 비교하였다.

The benedeniine monogenean Benedenia derzhabini (Layman, 1930) Meserve, 1938 from cultured Korean rockfish, Sebastes schlegeli, is described and reported for the first time in Korea. The parasite was recovered from the gills and inner wall of operculum. B. derzhavini is distinguished from B. seriolae and B. sebastodis by the relative shape and length between the accessory sclerites and the hamuli. Benedeniidae과에 속하는 단생흡충류인 Benededia derzhavini(Layman, 1930) Meserve, 1938가 양식 조피볼락의 아가미와 아가미 뚜껑 내벽에 기생하고 있음을 국내에서 처음으로 보고하며, 아울러 이 종의 형태학적 특징을 자세히 기술하였다. B. derzhayini는 B. seriolae 및 B. sebastodis 등의 종들과 accessory sclerite와 hamuli의 형태 및 상대적인 길이 비율 차이에 의해서 구별되었다.

Fetal bovine serum (FBS) is an essential element of cell growth and can also affect the viral replication. In this study, we tried to find out whether FBS concentration affects the viral infectivity titer of IHNV and IPNV. EPC cells were suspended with MEM supplemented with various concentrations of FBS (MEM0, MEM2, MEM5 and MEM10) and cultured in 96-well plate. Each virus was 10-fold diluted virus and inoculated in 96-well plate. The highest infectivity titer of IHNV was $10^{7.88}\;TCID_{50}/mL$ in 96-well plate using MEM5 and the lowest one was $10^{7.30}\;TCID_{50}/mL$ in 96-well plate using MEM10. The highest infectivity titer of IPNV was $10^{7.47}\;TCID_{50}/mL$ in 96-well plate using MEM5 and the lowest one was $10^{6.97}\;TCID_{50}/mL$ in 96-well plate using MEM10. This study showed that not only 0% FBS but 10% FBS leads low infectivity titer of IHNV and IPNV. Therefore, it is considered that the desirable concentration of FBS is 2% or 5% for measurement of infectivity titer of IHNV and IPNV.

Since viral haemorrhagic septicaemia virus (VHSV) was first reported in European rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) in the 1930s, it has caused high prices in freshwater and saltwater fish around the world, causing enormous economic damage to the aquaculture industry. We have been seeking required countermeasures against viruses because of economic damage to the aquaculture industry. However, commercial vaccines have the limitations of being costly to use in farms and being effective to only one pathogen. The aquaculture industry these days is taking on new alternatives to vaccines, antibiotics and chemicals. In this study, the suitability of antiviral effects against VHSV was evaluated in vitro for various plant extracts to judge their effectiveness. Atriplex gmelinii, Ixeris repens, Arctium lappa, and Sargassum coreanum were tested to know the correlation between the amount of virus and the concentration of extract investigates if these extracts have antiviral effects. Virus and extracts at various concentrations were inoculated simultaneously as 1:1 ratio into EPC cell lines. There are no antiviral effects with Atriplex gmelinii, Ixeris repens and Arctium lappa. Extract of Sargassum coreanum only has the antiviral activity in a dose-dependent manner. These results show that extract of Sargassum coreanum can be used in aquaculture industry as an antiviral materials.
소양호, 남양호, 안동호 및 춘천호에 서식하는 잉어과 어류의 간흡충 Clonorchis sinensis 감염 조사

Clonorchis sinensis is a main parasite that infects humans by making freshwater fish as an intermediate host in South Korea. There are so many reports about the infestation status of Clonorchis sinensis metacercariae (CsMc) in freshwater fish living in the river, but there are a few studies of fish in the lake. In this study, we examined CsMc in Cyprinid fish sampled from Soyang Lake, Namyang Lake, Andong Lake and Chunchun Lake from 2016 to 2017. Metacercaria of trematodes were found from Hemiculter eigenmanni and Carassius auratus in Namyang Lake, and Zacco platypus and Opsarichthys uncirostris in Soyang Lake. As a result of PCR using Clonorchis sinensis specific primer sets, it was confirmed that the metacercariae from Hemiculter eigenmanni in Namyang Lake was CsMc. This study provides information on CsMc infestation status of Cyprinid fish in four lakes and it is the first report of CsMc infestation in Namyang Lake.

Goldfish hematopoietic necrosis (GHN) affects hematopoietic organs and causes high mortality in goldfish. The causative agent of GHN is cyprinid herpesvirus 2 (CyHV-2). The purpose of this study was to detect CyHV-2 in ornamental cyprinid fish. CyHV-2 monitoring was conducted on a monthly basis for 1 year using goldfish Carassius auratus and pearlscale goldfish Carassius auratus that had been cultured at a domestic aquafarm and imported from Singapore, respectively. The results of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays using specific primers for the CyHV-2 helicase gene showed that 27.8% of goldfish and 33.3% of pearlscale goldfish were positive for CyHV-2. No cytophatic effects were detected in koi fin or common carp brain cells inoculated with tissue homogenates from either fish. Our data provides the useful data for establishing future quarantine and disinfection policies.
