The osmotic and mechanical red cell fragility of the professional blood donors, who were found to be anemic as the result of frequent and repeated blood loss the past 5-6 years, were compared with that of the normal person while incubating the blood at 4-6℃ for 28 days. The fragility was expressed as % hemolysis occured during the incubation, and the following results were obtained: 1. The osmotic fragility in the normal persons (i.e, ; control group) progressively increased as the incubation became longer, and % hemolysis in 0.42% NaCl solution at 0, 10, 15, 21 and 28 incubation day was 31.90, 50.20, 41.68, 43.50 and 55.40 respectively. The mechanical fragility. in the normal red cells ranged between the minimum of 0.00% to the maximum of 5.80% both in 0.90 and 0.66% of NaCl solutions. 2. The hemolysis curve obtained in the red cell osmotic fragility from three cases of the anemic persons (i.e,; experimental group) showed a significant left side shift comparing with the normal in general which indicates that the fragility was more increased in the experimental group. The mechanical fragility in the experimental group ranged between the minimum 0.00% to the maximum 19.00% both in 0.90 and 0.66% of NaCl solutions. 3. The red cells of the chronic anemic person due to the frequent blood loss as the professional blood donor exhibit significantly marked increase both in osmotic and mechanical fragility comparing with the normal, and the tendency was more prominent as the incubation period became longer.

In an attempt to observe a possible effect of CO intoxication on the activities of pulmonary surfactant, the rabbits were exposed to 0.1% CO gas daily for two hours, and on the 1st, 3rd and 5th day of exposure, the lung extract was prepared. The activities of surfactant were measured by tension-area diagram of lung extract recorded by the modified Langmuir-Wilhelmy balance with a synchronized recording system. A comparison was made with the control, and the results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. The maximal and minimal surface tensions, width of the tension-area diagram at the surface area of 40% in lung extract, and stability index of the normal rabbit lung extracts were 31.6± 3.11dynes/㎝, 8.2±0.56 dynes/㎝, 21.4±4.40 dynes/㎝ and 1.12±0.22, respectively. 2. The activities of surfactant in the CO gas exposed group did not show any significant change from the control. 3. The above results suggest that CO gas produces no noticeable effect on the surfactant system of the lung.
One-Coil Coin Type 진동 Motor의 특성 개선

This paper presentsthe characteristic improvements of one-coil coin type vibration motor. The rotor consists of coreless coil and 4 segments commutator. The magnet has 4 poles and is magnetized in the direction of z-axis. This one-coil coin type vibration motor has simple mechanical structure and good efficiency. So production cost is lower than other coin type motors having 2 or more coils. But it has the weak points. Such as small vibration magnitude and dead zone. By modifying the shape of rotor, vibration magnitude is increased. To avoid the dead zone we attached more magnetic body on rotor. As result, we show the optimal position of magnetic body.

This study was performed to evaluate the physical fitness and aerobic capacity for tbc. patient during exercise. It is well known that the physical fitness and aerobiosis can be represented with MOI measured by a Tread-Mill method. Twenty nine tvc. patients were classified into minimal active case(15), moderate advanced case (11) and far advanced case (3) by the cariteria of NTA classification. The pulmonary function study and clinical observation were undertaken in all patients and the relationship between oxygen consumption and the degree of work loaded was discussed. The conclusion obtained are as following : 1. Forced expiraotry volume and maximal breathing capacity decreased slightly in minimal active case comoaring with control group while maximal oxygen demand was not influenced by the disease. 2. During severe exercise the minute ventilation in control group was 8.5 to 9 times as great as the value in resting state coinciding with the study of Åstrand and Cunningham. The minute ventilation in mininimal active case was 8 times and in moderate advanced case was 7.5times as great as that in resting state. 3. MOI in tbc. patient was markedly decrease comparing with control group, and as factors which decrease MOI of tbc, patient it might be suggested as; the decrease of physical fitness by tbc, lesion, lack of conditioning excercise, and circulatory derangement, etc. 4. During moderate exercise, carbon dixide output in tbc-patients increased markedly has maintaintaining the ventilation well, and during severe exercise, the data obtained were unsatisfactory. 5. In moderate advanced case, oxygen consumpiton was not increased despit of the incaresed minute ventilation, that was coincided with the low oxygen cost.
