Effects of particle size and content of tin powder on the properties of iron-tin sintered alloy for porous bearing were investigated in comparison with those of iron powder compact. The results obtained are as follows; 1) The effect of particle size of tin powder : When the particle size becomes finer, the compact shrinks a little and pore-structure becomes finer and then, the strength increases considerably. 2) The effect of tin powder content : When content of tin powder increases, the compact expands a little and also the pore-structure grows a little. But the strength decreases especially with increasing of the tin content above 1.5wt&. Therefore, it is desirable that the particle size is -350mesh and the content is about 1.0wt%.

Expression of Artemisia annua terpene synthase in transgenic tobacco plants was examined. A full length cDNA encoding terpene synthase was cloned into pILTAB357 vector and transgenic tobacco plants were generated. The integration of this gene was analyzed by genomic DNA PCR and Southern blot analysis. The transcription of the terpene synthase gene in tobacco was confirmed by RT-PCR and northern blot analysis.

This paper describes development of low cost precision machine that has combined the Build-in Motor with a vacuum chuck. This study mainly aims to find out a cutting condition for maintaining optimum surface condition and to examine cutting characteristics of the precision machine that is equipped by diamond bites. The cutting materials is Al alloy. Several experiments were carried out to find out the main factors that affect the surface roughness such as principal axis RPM(rotation per minute), feeding speed, and cutting depth. As a result, we obtain The optimum cutting condition of the developed precision machine.

<P>The interleukin-33 (IL-33)/ST2 pathway has emerged as an intercellular signaling system that participates in antigen-allergen response, autoimmunity and fibrosis. It has been suggested that IL-33/ST2 signaling has been involved in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), because IL-33 and its receptor have been specifically mapped to RA synovium. The aim of this study was to determine the levels of IL-33 and sST2 in sera and synovial fluids in patients with RA. The serum level of IL-33 was significantly higher in patients with RA (294.9 ± 464.0 pg/mL) than in healthy controls (96.0 ± 236.9 pg/mL, <I>P</I> = 0.002). The synovial fluid level of IL-33 was significantly higher in RA patients than in osteoarthritis patients. The level of serum sST2 was higher in RA patients than in healthy controls (<I>P</I> = 0.042). A significant relationship was found between the levels of IL-33 and IL-1β (<I>r</I> = 0.311, <I>P</I> = 0.005), and IL-33 and IL-6 (<I>r</I> = 0.264, <I>P</I> = 0.017) in 81 RA patients. The levels of IL-33, sST2 and C-reactive protein decreased after conventional disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs treatment in 10 patients with treatment-naïve RA. Conclusively, IL-33 is involved in the pathogenesis of RA and may reflect the degree of inflammation in patients with RA.</P>
An Evaluation of Multimedia Data Downstream with PDA in an Infrastructure Network
Hong, Youn-Sik,Hur, Hye-Sun Korea Information Processing Society 2006 Journal of information processing systems Vol.2 No.2
A PDA is used mainly for downloading data from a stationary server such as a desktop PC in an infrastructure network based on wireless LAN. Thus, the overall performance depends heavily on the performance of such downloading with PDA. Unfortunately, for a PDA the time taken to receive data from a PC is longer than the time taken to send it by 53%. Thus, we measured and analyzed all possible factors that could cause the receiving time of a PDA to be delayed with a test bed system. There are crucial factors: the TCP window size, file access time of a PDA, and the inter-packet delay that affects the receiving time of a PDA. The window size of a PDA during the downstream is reduced dramatically to 686 bytes from 32,581 bytes. In addition, because flash memory is embedded into a PDA, writing data into the flash memory takes twice as long as reading the data from it. To alleviate these, we propose three distinct remedies: First, in order to keep the window size at a sender constant, both the size of a socket send buffer for a desktop PC and the size of a socket receive buffer for a PDA should be increased. Second, to shorten its internal file access time, the size of an application buffer implemented in an application should be doubled. Finally, the inter-packet delay of a PDA and a desktop PC at the application layer should be adjusted asymmetrically to lower the traffic bottleneck between these heterogeneous terminals.
