Cryptococcosis is an invasive fungal infection, which is more common in immunocompromised patients. However, pulmonary cryptococcosis can occur in immunocompetent patients and should be considered on a differential diagnosis for nodular or mass-like lesions in chest radiograph. Recently, we experienced a patient with pulmonary cryptococcosis, successfully treated with oral fluconazole therapy. A 74-year-old female patient was referred for an evaluation of abnormal images, a large consolidative mass with multiple nodular consolidations and small nodules that mimics primary lung cancer with multiple lung to lung metastases. Computed tomography-guided lung biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of pulmonary cryptococcosis. The follow-up image taken after 4 months with oral fluconazole treatment showed marked improvement.

<P>A liquid-permeable concept in a metal-insulator-metal (MIM) structure is proposed to achieve highly sensitive color-tuning property through the change of the effective refractive index of the dielectric insulator layer. A semicontinuous top metal film with nanoapertures, adopted as a transreflective layer for MIM resonator, allows to tailor the nanomorphology of a dielectric layer through selective etching of the underneath insulator layer, resulting in nanopillars and hollow voids in the insulator layer. By allowing outer mediums to enter into the hollow voids of the dielectric layer, such liquid-permeable MIM architecture enables to achieve the wavelength shift as large as 323.5 nm/RIU in the visible range, which is the largest wavelength shift reported so far. Our liquid-permeable approaches indeed provide dramatic color tunablility, a real-time sensing scheme, long-term durability, and reproducibility in a simple and scalable manner.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

The recent globalization of the consumer market has highlighted the importance of a brand; subsequently, brand extension is strategically used to launch of various products and services. Especially, various and new services based on information and communication technology for the convenience of consumers have been provided continuously. This study examined consumer`s evaluation for brand extension centered on the brand extension as a mobile payment service through consumer propensity and familiarity as well as attitude toward a brand. The research is as follows. First, it shows that self-efficacy and implicit theories among consumer characteristics positively influence familiarity and attitude toward a brand. Second, it shows that the planned consumption tendency among consumption characteristics of a consumer positively affect familiarity toward a brand. Third, it is confirmed that the brand extension on parents brand affects the attitude towards brand extension, and the attitude towards brand extension is connected to a willingness to recommend through the purchase intention. This study empirically confirms the importance of consumer propensity, the consumer`s perception, and evaluation towards the brand extension of the company as well as the continuous efforts and required company activities to build and form a positive attitude and familiarity of consumers for the brand. This study can be used as basic data for the strategy development of brand extensions in service companies.
Influence of the Duration of Diabetes on the Outcome of a Diabetes Self-Management Education Program

<P><B>Background</B></P><P>Diabetes education and lifestyle modification are critical components in controlling blood glucose levels of people with type 2 diabetes. Until now, available data on the effectiveness of education with respect to the duration of diabetes are limited. We investigated whether adherence to lifestyle behavior modification prompted by diabetes education was influenced by the duration of diabetes.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>Two hundred and twenty-five people with type 2 diabetes were recruited for an intensive, collaborative, group-based diabetes education program with annual reinforcement. We divided the patients into two groups based on the duration of their diabetes prior to the education program (≤1 year [≤1Y] vs. ≥3 years [≥3Y]). Dietary habits, physical activity, and the frequency of blood glucose self-monitoring were evaluated with a questionnaire prior to education and at the follow-up endpoint.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>The mean follow-up period was 32.2 months. The mean hemoglobin A1c (A1C) value was significantly lower in the ≤1Y group. Self-care behaviors, measured by scores for dietary habits (<I>P</I>=0.004) and physical activity (<I>P</I><0.001), were higher at the endpoint in the ≤1Y group than in the ≥3Y group. Logistic regression analysis revealed that a longer diabetes duration before education was significantly associated with mean A1C levels greater than or equal to 7.0% (53 mmol/mol).</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>Diabetes duration influenced the effectiveness of diabetes education on lifestyle behavior modification and glycemic control. More-intense, regular, and sustained reinforcement with encouragement may be required for individuals with longstanding type 2 diabetes.</P>

농약은 농작물이 잡초나 해충, 세균으로부터 받는 피해를 예방하고 농작물의 생산성 증진 등으로 농업에서 중요한 역할을 하는 농자재이다. 친환경 인증 농산물 외 일반 농산물은 허용기준 이내라도 농약이 잔류할 가능성이 있어 소비자들은 농산물 섭취 시 잔류농약 노출에 불안감을 갖고 있다. 이러한 불안감을 줄이기 위하여 과일에 잔류하는 농약을 효과적으로 제거하는 방법을 규명하기 위한 연구를 진행하였다. 본 실험은 친환경 사과를 처리구당 3개씩 3반복으로 나뉘어 살균제(Carbendazim, Trifloxystrobin), 살충제(Acetamiprid, Diflubenzuron)를 살포한 후, 7일 후에 무처리, 껍질 제거(제거), 물 세척(세척), 물 침지 후 세척(침지), 식초물 침지 후 세척(식초), 소다물 침지 후 세척(소다)의 방법으로 처리한 후 잔류농약을 분석하였다. 침지시간은 5분, 세척시간은 20초로 하였다. 잔류농약 분석을 위한 전처리는 균질화 된 시료 10 g을 50 mL 원심분리관에 칭량하여 Acetonitrile을 10 mL 주가한 후 1분간 진탕하고, 4 g MgSO<sub>4</sub>, 1g NaCl, 1g NaCitrate, 0.5 g Disodium citrate sesquihydrate를 첨가한 후 다시 1분간 균질기로 진탕한 다음 3,000 rpm/min으로 5분간 원심분리를 진행하였다. 상등액 1ml를 Dispersive SPE(25mg PSA, 150 mg MgSO4) tube에 넣고 1분간 진탕하고, 10,000 rpm에서 1분간 원심분리하여 상등액을 0.2 μm 시린지 필터로 여과하여 LC/MS/MS, GC/MS/MS 분석시액으로 사용하였다. 분석방법은 「농산물 잔류농약 다성분 분석방법」에 따라 4가지 농약성분을 분석하였다. 분석 결과 Carbendazim(살균제)은 무처리 대비 제거 88%>소다 72%>침지 64%>식초 61%>세척 55% 순으로 제거되는 결과를 나타냈다. Trifloxystrobin(살균제)은 제거 87%>소다 79%>식초 75%>세척 63%>침지 60% 순으로 제거되었다. Acetamiprid(살충제)는 무처리 대비 제거 91%>식초 63%>소다 59%>침지 50%>세척 47% 순으로 제거되는 결과를 나타냈다. Diflubenzuron(살충제)은 소다 87% >제거 80%>침지 78%>세척 76%>식초 67% 순으로 제거되었다. 4가지 성분 모두 껍질을 제거한 방법에서 잔류농약이 효과적으로 제거되었다. 세척에 따른 결과는 소다침지 후 세척이 Acetamiprid 외 3가지 농약에서 제거효과가 가장 좋았다. 농약성분 별로 처리방법에 따른 제거효과가 다른 결과에 대하여서는 추가적인 연구가 필요할 것으로 사료되었다.

This study aims to enhance the management performance of franchise coffee shops, among food service industry where entrepreneurship fever is strong in line with social change and trend, by analyzing location factors for the commercial district of the franchise coffee shops. It explores the current status of franchise coffee shops located in Busan area and selected location factors which fit for franchise coffee shops by classifying upper class and its segmented classes through the investigation on preceding researches. The significance of these upper and its segmented location factors is analyzed through Analytic Hierarchy Process AHP. The result of AHP analysis based on questionnaire survey on experts, franchisee and general customers related to franchise coffee shops shows that the relative important locations factors are in the order of approachability, marketability, competitiveness, economic efficiency, visibility and demographic characteristics of the located region. In summary, in selecting the location of franchise coffee shops, approachability is the top priority to consider, particularly road conditions and vicinity of roads. In addition, other important factors includes whether the location has densely packed surrounding commercial facilities, whether commercial facilities are compressed and bustling and whether it has plenty of floating population. Careful consideration of these factors will prove to be a great help for franchise coffee shops to avoid suffering from future management difficulty and will help boost the management performance of the coffee shops.
