This studies attempted to bred the two yeasts of highest level of alcohol and 4-ethylguaiacol production from fermented mash conventional soy sauce. Two kinds of yeast isolated from conventional fermented mash were identified and designated as Zugosaccharomyces rouxii BH-90 and candida versatilis BH-91 which produced the highest levels of ethyl alcohol and 4-ethylguaiacol. The two yeast strains preferred pH 5.0 and 30℃for highest levels of 2.5% ethylalcohol and 18mg/? 4-ethylgaicacol production.
Density Functional Theoretical Studies on the Redox-dependent Hydrogen Bonding

<P>Redox-dependent hydrogen bonding has been a subject of extensive attraction since it provides a basis for external control for synthetic supramolecular system such as sensors, molecular electronics, and molecular machines. We performed density functional theoretical calculations on the nitrobenzene/arylurea interactions in order to understand the bonding and its dependence on the reduction/oxidation. We calculated the binding energy in the reduced and oxidized states and correlated the energy differences with the shift in half-wave potential, Δ<I>E</I><SUB>1/2</SUB>, for different <I>p</I>-substituted nitrobenzene/diphenylurea pairs.</P>

This paper deals with properties of the exponentiated extreme value distribution. We derive the approximate maximum likelihood estimators of the scale parameter and location parameter of the exponentiated extreme value distribution based on multiply Type-II censored samples. We compare the proposed estimators in the sense of the mean squared error for various censored samples.
A Statistical Analysis of Professional Baseball Team Data: The Case of the Lotte Giants

Knowing what factors into a player's ability to affect the outcome of a sports game is crucial. This knowledge helps determine the relative degree of contribution by each team member as well as sets appropriate annual salaries. This study uses statistical analysis to investigate how much the outcome of a professional baseball game is influenced by the records of individual players. We used the Lotte Giants' data on 252 games played between 2007 and 2008 that included environmental data(home or away games and opponents) as well as pitchers' and batters' data. Using a SAS Enterprise Miner, we performed a logistic regression analysis and decision tree analysis on the data. The results obtained through the two analytic methods are compared and discussed.

난수는 모의실험에서 매우 중요한 역할을 한다. 따라서 난수발생기가 올바른 난수를 발생시키기 위하여 지녀야 할 성질들로는 임의성, 장주기, 효율성, 반복성, 호환성, 일양성이 있다. 현재 많이 사용되고있거나, 최근에 소개된 난수발생기들인 GGUBS, Portable Pseudo-random Number Generator, Universal Random Number Generator에 대해 이 성질들을 비교해보았다. 포커검정, 런검정, kolmogorov-smirnov검정, 카이제곱검정을 사용하였으며, 여러 면을 종합해 본 결과 Universal Random Number Generator를 사용하는 것이 바람직하다.

Benthic macroinvertebrates were collected with a Surber sampler in streams across different levels of pollution in Korea. Abundance data in different species were analyzed according to the models used in species abundance distribution (SAD), covering geometric series, log series and log normal model. Different patterns in SADs were observed according to the states pertaining to the sample sites. While the log normal patterns were broadly applied to the collected samples, the other models (e.g., geometric series) were selectively observed. The slopes of rank abundance also accordingly reflected the degree of pollution. Application of the theoretical models was additionally discussed in revealing the states of communities. Efficiency of SADs was proposed in community monitoring in response to stressful conditions in aquatic ecosystems.
