        Analysis of severe accident progression and Cs behavior for SBO event during mid-loop operation of OPR1000 using MELCOR

        One of the important issues raised from the Fukushima-Daiichi accident is the safety of multi-unit sites when simultaneous accidents occur at the site and recently a multi-unit PSA methodology is being developed worldwide. Since all operation modes of the plant should be considered in the multi-unit PSA, the accident analysis needs to be performed for shutdown operation modes, too. In this study, a station blackout during the mid-loop operation is selected as a reference scenario. The overall accident progression for the mid-loop operation is slower than that for the full-power operation because the residual heat per mass of coolant is about 6 times lower than that in the mid-loop scenario. Though the fractions of Cs released from the core to the RCS in both operation modes are almost the same, the amount of Cs delivered to the containment atmosphere is quite different due to the chemisorption in the RCS. While 45.5% of the initial inventory is chemisorbed on the RCS surfaces during the full-power operation, only 2.2% during the mid-loop operation. The containment remains intact during the mid-loop operation, though 83.9% of Cs is delivered to the containment.

        Properties and applications of starch modifying enzymes for use in the baking industry

        Enzyme technology has many potential applications in the baking industry because carbohydrate-active enzymes specifically react with carbohydrate components, such as starch, in complex food systems. Amylolytic enzymes are added to starch-based foods, such as baking products, to retain moisture more efficiently and to increase softness, freshness, and shelf life. The major reactions used to modify the structure of food starch include: (1) hydrolysis of ${\alpha}-1$, 4 or ${\alpha}-1$, 6 glycosidic linkages, (2) disproportionation by the transfer of glucan moieties, and (3) branching by formation of ${\alpha}-1$, 6 glycosidic linkage. The catalytic reaction of a single enzyme or a mixture of more than two enzymes has been applied, generating novel starches, with chemical changes in the starch structure, in which the changes of molecular mass, branch chain length distribution, and the ratio of amylose to amylopectin may occur. These developments of enzyme technology highlight the potential to create various structured-starches for the food and baking industry.

        The β-Lactamase Activity at the Community Level Confers β-Lactam Resistance to Bloom-Forming Microcystis aeruginosa Cells

        Many freshwater cyanobacteria, including Microcystis aeruginosa, lack several known antibiotic resistance genes; however, both axenic and xenic M. aeruginosa strains exhibited high antibiotic resistance against many antibiotics under our tested concentrations, including colistin, trimethoprim, and kanamycin. Interestingly, axenic PCC7806, although not the xenic NIBR18 and NIBR452 strains, displayed susceptibility to ampicillin and amoxicillin, indicating that the associated bacteria in the phycosphere could confer such antibiotic resistance to xenic strains. Fluorescence and scanning electron microscopic observations revealed their tight association, leading to possible community-level β-lactamase activity. Combinatory treatment of ampicillin with a β-lactamase inhibitor, sulbactam, abolished the ampicillin resistance in the xenic stains. The nitrocefin-based assay confirmed the presence of significant community-level β-lactamase activity. Our tested low ampicillin concentration and high β-lactamase activity could potentially balance the competitive advantage of these dominant species and provide opportunities for the less competitive species, thereby resulting in higher bacterial diversity under ampicillin treatment conditions. Non-PCR-based metagenome data from xenic NIBR18 cultures revealed the dominance of blaOXArelated antibiotic resistance genes followed by other class A β-lactamase genes (AST-1 and FAR-1). Alleviation of ampicillin toxicity could be observed only in axenic PCC7806, which had been cocultured with β-lactamase from other freshwater bacteria. Our study suggested M. aeruginosa develops resistance to old-class β-lactam antibiotics through altruism, where associated bacteria protect axenic M. aeruginosa cells.

      • OPTIMAL POLICY FOR DECREASING THE DIGITAL DIFFERENTIATION OF SOUTH KOREA: BASED ON THE GRAPH THEORY AND INVERSE OPTIMIZATION

        The purpose of this paper is to understand the digital differentiation in social members’ information use via digital devices. Though the attention to the digital differentiation becomes far more increasing, there are only few literatures dealing with quantitative approaches about the digital differentiation. The term ‘digital differentiation’ represents the availability of the information user. It is different from ‘digital divide’ of which the main parameter is accessibility to the information. Once accessibility meets a certain level, availability is considered as a more important factor than accessibility when evaluating the progress of ICT(Information and Communication Technology). We present a model that can describe the digital differentiation phenomenon by using the methodology borrowed from the graph theory, inverse optimization and other established research theory related to digital differentiation. We provide some insights to reduce digital differentiations and therefore our analysis can be used as a guideline for policy maker who desires to mitigate digital differentiations.

        목회자 자녀인 음악치료사의 부모화 상처 치유과정에 대한 자문화기술지

        목회자 자녀, 음악치료사본 연구는 목회자 자녀인 음악치료사의 부모화 상처 치유과정에 대한 이해를 돕는 것에 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 목회자 자녀이자 부모화 상처를 지닌 음악치료사의 상처 치유과정을 자문화기술지 연구 방법으로 분석하여 기술하였다. 그 결과 ‘제한된 표현’, ‘억압된 감정’, ‘과도한 책임감’이 결과로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 부모화된 연구자의 모습이 감정을 표현하고 전달하는 데 어려움으로 발현되어 가족 내에서 의사소통의 문제로 이어지게 되었고, 결과적으로 자신보다 가족을 위해 희생하는 형태로 책임감이 나타났다. 음악치료사의 정체성에서는 ‘부모화로 인한 역전이’와 ‘역할의 충돌’이 나타났다. 이는 연구자로서의 정체성에 혼란을 일으켜 치료환경에서 부모화가 나타났음을 의미한다. 더 나아가 연구자가 자신의 부모화와 양육 상처를 통찰하며 자기 작업을 하였을 때 ‘상처의 직면과 수용’, ‘표현과 인식의 확장’, ‘치료사로서의 성장’을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 목회자 자녀이자 부모화로 인한 상처를 지닌 음악치료사로서 경험한 치유의 과정을 세밀하게 고찰하였다. 본 연구는 연구자와 유사한 경험을 지니고 있는 목회자 자녀들과 음악치료사에게 공감의 발판을 제공하고 치유의 경험을 공유함으로써 회복의 기틀을 마련하는 데에 의의를 가진다. 또한 연구자와 비슷한 상황에 놓인 사람들이 보여주는 상처와 부모화된 모습들에 대한 한 사례로 제시한다는 학문적 의의를 가진다., 부모화, 상처, 치유, 자문화기술지 This study aims to facilitate the understanding of the parentification wound recovery process of a music therapist who is a parentified kid of a pastors’. To this end, this study analyzed and explored the parentification wound recovery process of a wounded music therapist, who was also a parentified kid of a pastor’. using the research technique of auto-ethnography. The findings showed that the reserch participant displayed the characteristics of restricted expression, oppressed emotions, and excessive sense of responsibility. The author’s sense of identity revealed signs of counter-transference caused by parentification and conflict of roles. This means the author experienced identity confusion and parentification occurred in the therapy environments. Moreover, when the author dedicated herself to the self-work of penetrating into her own wounds and parentification, she was able to confront and embrace her own wounds, expand her expression and perception, and grow further as a therapist. This studyexplored in details the process of the recovery of a wounded music therapist as a parentified kid of a pastor. This study carries specific significance in the sense that it lays the foundation for recovery by providing the basis of empathy and sharing the experience of recovery to the kids of other pastor’s kids pastors and music therapists who had similar experiences with the author. This has additional academic significance in that it serves as a case study on wounds and states of parentification to of the individuals in a similar situation with the author by sharing the process of recovery of a wounded music therapist who is a parentified kid of a pastor’.

        모바일 사용자의 성별 예측을 위한 식별 및 인기 단어 집합 기반 2단계 기기 내 분석

        모바일 기기 데이터를 활용한 분석에서 사용자의 프라이버시를 보호하는 것이 주요한 이슈로 대두됨에 따라 데이터를 외부로 전송하지 않고 모바일 기기 안에서 분석을 수행하는 기기내 분석이 주목 받고 있다. 기기 내 분석을 활용하면 문자 메시지, 검색 단어, 북마크, 연락처등 매우 개인적이지만 성별 구분에 효과적이라고 알려진 모바일 텍스트를 이용한 성별 예측이 가능하며, 사전에 선정된 단어들의 집합을 모바일 기기로 전송하여 이 단어들과 모바일 텍스트를 비교를 통해 성별을 예측하는 단어 비교 방식을 이용하면 모바일 기기의 제한된 자원 문제를 극복할 수 있다. 특히, 확실한 근거를 이용하여 필터링 한 후 예측을 수행하면 정확도를 극대화하고 복잡도를 낮출 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 단어의 식별력과 인기도를 순차적으로 고려하는 2단계의 기기 내 성별 예측 방법을 제안한다. 구체적으로, 제안하는 방법론은 소수의 높은 식별력을 가지는 단어를 이용하여 전체 사용자의 성별을 예측하고 이어서 인기도가 높은 단어를 활용하여 앞서 예측이 되지 않은 사용자의 성별을 예측한다. 실제 데이터를 이용한 실험에서 제안하는 방법론은 비교 방법론보다 우수한 성능을 나타내었다. As respecting one’s privacy becomes an important issue in mobile device data analysis, on-device analysis is getting attention, in which the data analysis is conducted inside a mobile device without sending data from the device to outside. One possible application of the on-device analysis is gender prediction using text data in mobile devices, such as text messages, search keyword, website bookmarks, and contact, which are highly private, and the limited computing power of mobile devices can be addressed by utilizing the word comparison method, where words are selected beforehand and delivered to a mobile device of a user to determine the user’s gender by matching mobile text data and the selected words. Moreover, it is known that performing prediction after filtering instances using definite evidences increases accuracy and reduces computational complexity. In this regard, we propose a two-phase approach to on-device gender prediction, where both discriminability and popularity of a word are sequentially considered. The proposed method performs predictions using a few highly discriminative words for all instances and popular words for unclassified instances from the previous prediction. From the experiments conducted on real-world dataset, the proposed method outperformed the compared methods.

      • Field Monitoring of the Oriental Fruit Moth, Grapholita molesta, Movements Using Pheromone Trap and RAPD Molecular Markers

        Local and seasonal populations of the oriental fruit moth, Grapholita molesta, were monitored with sex pheromone trapping and RAPD (random amplified polymorphic DNA) molecular marker to analyze their movement in apple orchards. To detect their movements among farms, pheromone traps were placed at regions between apple farms ('outside-farms') as well as within-farms ('inside-farms'). Four seasonal adult peaks were evident in apple-cultivating fields from April to October in both trappings of inside- or outside-farms. After overwintering generation, populations of inside-farms were significantly reduced with frequent insecticide applications, compared to populations of outside-farms. Within apple farms, G. molesta tended to be unevenly distributed because of significant sublocal preference. Active movements of local and seasonal populations of G. molesta were supported by gene flow analysis using RAPD marker. Monitoring data using sex pheromone and seasonal reduction in initial genetic differentiation detected in the overwintering populations suggest that there must be significant movement of G. molesta among different orchards in apple-cultivating areas.

        Draft Genome Sequence of Xylaria grammica EL000614, a Strain Producing Grammicin, a Potent Nematicidal Compound

        An endolichenic fungus, Xylaria grammica strain EL000614, showed strong nematicidal effects against plant pathogenic nematode, Meloidogyne incognita by producing grammicin. We report genome assembly of X. grammica EL000614 comprised of 25 scaffolds with a total length of 54.73 Mb, N50 of 4.60 Mb, and 99.8% of BUSCO completeness. GC contents of this genome were 44.02%. Gene families associated with biosynthesis of secondary metabolites or regulatory proteins were identified out of 13,730 gene models predicted.

        Tractional Retinal Detachment in Eyes with Vitreous Hemorrhage and Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy and Posterior Vitreous Detachment in Fellow Eye

        Purpose: To predict the presence of tractional retinal detachment (TRD) in eyes with dense vitreous hemorrhage (VH) and proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) by evaluating the status of posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) in fellow eyes using optical coherence tomography (OCT). Methods: A total of 44 eyes from 22 patients who underwent vitrectomy due to dense VH with PDR were enrolled. Using OCT, the PVD status in the fellow eye was divided into two groups (incomplete and complete PVD). The incomplete PVD group included eyes without PVD and eyes with partial PVD. B-scan ultrasonography was performed on eyes with dense VH to evaluate the presence of TRD. Both OCT and B-scan images were reviewed by four ophthalmologists (two novices and two experienced), and the interobserver agreement was evaluated. Results: There was a difference in the interobserver agreement regarding the presence of TRD in eyes with dense VH evaluated by B scan between novice and experienced ophthalmologists (novice, κ = 0.421 vs. experienced, κ = 0.814), although there was no difference between novice and experienced ophthalmologists in the interobserver agreement regarding the status of PVD in the fellow eye evaluated by OCT (novice, κ = 1.000 vs. experienced, κ = 1.000). All observed TRD during vitrectomy occurred in eyes with incomplete PVD in the fellow eye. Logistic regression analysis revealed a statistically significant relation between TRD and the age of the patient (odds ratio [OR], 0.874; p = 0.047), and between TRD and incomplete PVD in the fellow eye evaluated by OCT (OR, 13.904; p = 0.042). Conclusions: Evaluation of the PVD status in the fellow eye using OCT may be a useful predictor for detecting the presence of TRD in eyes with dense VH and PDR.
