許成哲,金仁澤 명지대학교 산업기술연구소 2005 産業技術硏究所論文集 Vol.24 No.-

This paper presents a method for compression hyperspectral images. A compression system built on this concept can obtain high compression rate and low information loss. Band images are extracted first from the hyperspectral data. Next these band images are stacked by order of wavelength and form a stack image, and obtain column vectors from the stack image. We transform this column vectors to obtain principal-component vectors by using PCT according to given number of principal component, and the obtained principal-component vectors become compression data. Reconstruction proceed with inverse PCT.

        Xu, Cheng-Xiong,Jere, Dhananjay,Jin, Hua,Chang, Seung-Hee,Chung, Youn-Sun,Shin, Ji-Young,Kim, Ji-Eun,Park, Sung-Jin,Lee, Yong-Hoon,Chae, Chan-Hee,Lee, Kee Ho,Beck, George R,Cho, Chong-Su,Cho, Myung-Ha American Lung Association 2008 American journal of respiratory and critical care Vol.178 No.1

RATIONALE: The low efficiency of conventional therapies in achieving long-term survival of patients with lung cancer calls for the development of novel therapeutic options. Recent advances in aerosol-mediated gene delivery have provided the possibility of an alternative for the safe and effective treatment of lung cancer. OBJECTIVES: To demonstrate the feasibility and emphasize the importance of noninvasive aerosol delivery of Akt1 small interfering RNA (siRNA) as an effective and selective option for lung cancer treatment. METHODS: Nanosized poly(ester amine) polymer was synthesized and used as a gene carrier. An aerosol of poly(ester amine)/Akt1 siRNA complex was delivered into K-ras(LA1) and urethane-induced lung cancer models through a nose-only inhalation system. The effects of Akt1 siRNA on lung cancer progression and Akt-related signals were evaluated. MEASUREMENTS AND MAIN RESULTS: The aerosol-delivered Akt1 siRNA suppressed lung tumor progression significantly through inhibiting Akt-related signals and cell cycle. CONCLUSIONS: The use of poly(ester amine) serves as an effective carrier, and aerosol delivery of Akt1 siRNA may be a promising approach for lung cancer treatment and prevention.

Investigation on turbulent heat transfer to lead–bismuth eutectic flows in circular tubes for nuclear applications

        Cheng, Xu,Tak, Nam-il Elsevier 2006 Nuclear engineering and design Vol.236 No.4

Abstract

Since many years, the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe has been working on the research and development of an accelerator driven sub-critical system (ADS) cooled by lead–bismuth eutectic (LBE). Although various numerical tools for thermal hydraulics have been established at the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe, reliably validated physical models related to turbulent heat transfer in LBE flows are still missing. Especially, physical models on heat transfer and turbulent Prandtl number have to be re-evaluated in LBE conditions to improve the reliability of numerical tools. In the present paper, review and assessment of the existing physical models are made. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis is carried out for circular tube geometries. Based on the assessment of the existing models and the CFD results achieved, recommendations are made on correlations of heat transfer and turbulent Prandtl number for numerical applications to LBE flows.

      • D1 protein turnover and carotene synthesis in relation to zeaxanthin epoxidation in rice leaves during recovery from low temperature photoinhibition

        Xu, Chang-Cheng,Kuang, Tingyun,Li, Liangbi,Lee, Choon-Hwan 부산대학교 유전공학연구소 2000 분자생물학 연구보 Vol.16 No.-

The relationship between D1 protein turnover, carotene synthesis zeaxanthin epoxidation was examined in rice (Oryza sativa L.) leaves during recovery subsequent to chilling treatments at 500 (moderate light)or 1000 μmol photons m^-2s^-1 (high light) for 3 h. When recovery was monitored in te light, the decrease in the level of zeaxanthin was closely paralleled by the slow increase in the efficiency of photosystem (PS) Ⅱ. Both these processed were greatly slowed down in the presence of lincomycin, an inhibitor of chloroplast-coded protein synthesis. In leaves chilled in moderate light, the inhibitory effect of lincomycin on zeaxanthin decrease was largely eliminated by infiltration with dithiothereitol, an inhibitor of de-epoxidase, suggesting a stimulation of violaxanthin de-epoxidation rather than an inhibition of zeaxanthin epoxidation in the presence of lincomycin. In high-light-chilled leaves lincomycin had little impact on violaxanthin de-epoxidation but strikingly blocked the process of zeaxanthin epoxidation. Furthemore both PSⅡ revovery and zeaxidation in high-light-chilled leaves were almost completely suppressed by incubation with either fluridone or norflurazon, two inhibitors of carotene synthesis. The possible reason for parallel changes in the level of zeaxanthin and PSⅡ efficiency during recovery from photoinhibition is discussed.

Highly crystalline bilayer electron transport layer for efficient conjugated polymer solar cells

        Cheng Xu,Matthew Wright,Naveen Kumar Elumalai,Arafat Mahmud,Dian Wang,Mushfika Baishakhi Upama,Faiazul Haque,Ashraf Uddin 한국물리학회 2018 Current Applied Physics Vol.18 No.5

Solution processed solar cells are a promising renewable energy technology due to the low fabrication costs. The most commonly used electron transport layer for solution processed organic solar cells is ZnO. However, sol-gel derived ZnO is amorphous, which limits interfacial charge transport. In this study, we demonstrate a ZnO bilayer, composed of a nanoparticle ZnO and sol-gel derived ZnO layer, as the electron transport layer in polymer solar cells incorporating the novel polymer poly [(5,6-difluoro-2,1,3-benzothiadiazol-4,7-diyl)-alt-(3,3‴-di (2-octyldodecyl)-2,2′; 5′,2″; 5″,2‴-quaterthiophen-5,5‴-diyl)] (PffBT4T-2OD). Compared with the single layer sol-gel ZnO, the bilayer displayed enhanced crystallinity. Consequently, the interfacial transport from the active layer was improved, as evidenced by dark J-V and PL spectroscopy measurements. Solar cells incorporating this bilayer ZnO layer achieved PCE values exceeding 10%, a relative improvement of 25% compared to the sol-gel ZnO devices.

Low dietary inorganic phosphate affects the lung growth of developing mice

        Cheng-Xiong Xu,Hua Jin,정윤선,신지영,황순경,권정택,박성진,이은순,Arash Minai-Tehrani,장승희,우민아,Mi-Suk Noh,안길환,이기호,조명행 대한수의학회 2009 JOURNAL OF VETERINARY SCIENCE Vol.10 No.2

Inorganic phosphate (Pi) plays a critical role in diverse cellular functions, and regulating the Pi balance is accomplished by sodium-dependent Pi co-transporter (NPT). Pulmonary NPT has recently been identified in mammalian lungs. However, to date, many of the studies that have involved Pi have mainly focused on its effect on bone and kidney. Therefore, current study was performed to discover the potential effects of low Pi on the lung of developing transgenic mice expressing the renilla/firefly luciferase dual reporter gene. Two-weeks old male mice divided into 2 groups and these groups were fed either a low PI diet or a normal control diet (normal: 0.5% Pi, low: 0.1% Pi) for 4 weeks. After 4 weeks of the diet, all the mice were sacrificed. Their lungs were harvested and analyzed by performing luciferase assay, Western blotting, kinase assay and immunohistochemistry. Our results demonstrate that low Pi affects the lungs of developing mice by disturbing protein translation, the cell cycle and the expression of fibroblast growth factor-2. These results suggest that optimally regulating Pi consumption may be important to maintain health.

Generation of Selenoprotein with Glutathione Peroxidase Activity by Chemical Modification of the Single-chain Variable Fragment Expressed in a Single-protein Production System and Its Antioxidant Ability

        Cheng Wang,Gang-Lin Yan,Shao-Wu Lü,Chun-Hong Sui,Yang Zhao,Ya-Wei Xu,Gang Zhao,Jun-jie Xu,Ping-Sheng Gong,Gui-Min Luo,Ying Mu 한국생물공학회 2013 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.18 No.1

Glutathione peroxidase (GPX) is one of the important members of the antioxidant enzyme family. It can catalyze the reduction of hydroperoxides with glutathione to protect cells against oxidative damage. Single-chain variable fragment (scFv) can be converted into seleniumcontaining single-chain variable fragment (Se-scFv) by chemical modification of the hydroxyl groups in scFv, thus Se-scFv possesses GPX activity and becomes a prodrug. To improve the expression of scFv and simplify its purification steps, Single-protein production (SPP) system was used to express scFv and chemical modification was used to synthesize Se-scFv. Therefore, we must construct a new scFv-WCD1-lessACA gene, which can express its mRNA not containing any ACA sequences and express its amino acid sequence of target protein (scFv) being same to scFv-WCD1. In this way, the scFv-WCD1-lessACA can be only expressed in SPP system and no other background proteins in the cells could be expressed. The expression results showed that high level of scFv-WCD1-lessACA synthesis was at least sustained for 96 h in the virtual absence of background protein synthesis. Then, selenocysteine (Sec) was incorporated into the scFv-WCD1-lessACA by chemical modification and resulted in Se-scFv-WCD1-lessACA. The enzymatic characteristics of Se-scFv-WCD1-lessACA were determined. GPX activity was 2,563 U/μmol,its binding constant for GSH was 0.687 ×105/mol. Moreover,Se-scFv-WCD1-lessACA was confirmed to have a strong antioxidant ability to protect mitochondria against oxidative damage induced by Vc/Fe2+ (mitochondrial damage model),suggesting that Se-scFv-WCD1-lessACA has potential application for protection of mitochondrial damage induced by reactive oxygen species (ROS).

Relaxation Effect of Schisandra Chinensis Lignans on the Isolated Tracheal Smooth Muscle in Rats and Its Mechanism

        Cheng-Cheng Lin,Zhi-Ying Xu,Bi-Han Wang,Wenyue Zhuang,Jinghui Sun,He Li,JianGuang Chen,Chunmei Wang 한국식품영양과학회 2021 Journal of medicinal food Vol.24 No.8

Schisandra chinensis (S. chinensis) is one of the core drugs used for relieving cough and asthma in traditional Chinese medicine. However, there are few basic studies on the treatment of respiratory diseases with S. chinensis in modern pharmacology, and the material basis and mechanism of its antiasthmatic effect are still unclear. Lignans are the main active components of S. chinensis. The aim of this study was to observe the relaxation effect of S. chinensis lignans (SCL) on the tracheal smooth muscle of rats by in vitro tracheal perfusion experiments, and to explore the mechanism by preincubation with L-type calcium channel blocker verapamil, four potassium channel blockers glibenclamide, tetraethylamine, 4-aminopyridine and barium chloride (BaCl2), β-adrenoceptor blocker propranolol, nitric oxide synthase inhibitor Nω-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME), and the cyclooxygenase inhibitor indomethacin, respectively. The results showed that SCL (0.25–1.75 mg/mL) reduced the contraction of isolated tracheal smooth muscle induced by acetylcholine, the preincubation with verapamil and glibenclamide could attenuate the relaxation effect, whereas propranolol, 4-aminopyridine, BaCl2, tetraethylamine, L-NAME, and indomethacin had no such effect. These results suggest that SCL has a significant relaxation effect on the isolated tracheal smooth muscle of rats, and the mechanism may be related to the inhibition of extracellular calcium influx and intracellular calcium release from the sarcoplasmic reticulum, as well as the activation of ATP-sensitive potassium channels. These findings may provide a pharmacological basis for the traditional use of S. chinensis to treat asthma.

Neutropenia during the First Cycle of Induction Chemotherapy Is Prognostic for Poor Survival in Locoregionally Advanced Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma: A Real-World Study in an Endemic Area

        Cheng Xu,Shi-Ping Yang,Yuan Zhang,Ling-Long Tang,Guan-Qun Zhou,Xu Liu,Yan-Ping Mao,Rui Guo,Wen-Fei Li,Lei Chen,Ai-Hua Lin,Ying Sun,Jun Ma 대한암학회 2018 Cancer Research and Treatment Vol.50 No.3

Purpose The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of neutropenia during the first cycle of induction chemotherapy (IC-1) on survival in locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (LANPC). Materials and Methods Eligible patients (n=545) with LANPC receiving IC+concurrent chemoradiotherapy were included. Based on nadir neutrophil after IC-1, all patients were categorized into three groups: no/grade 1-2/grade 3-4 neutropenia. Five-year overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) were compared between groups and subgroups stratified by IC regimen. We also explored the occurrence of IC-1–induced myelosuppression events and the minimal value of post-treatment neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (post-NLRmin). Univariate/multivariate analyses were performed to investigate the effect of IC-1–induced neutropenia, timing of neutropenia, number of myelosuppression events, and high post-NLRmin on OS/DFS. Results Grade 1-2/grade 3-4 neutropenia were associated with poorer OS/DFS than no neutropenia (all p < 0.05); OS/DFS were not significantly different between patients experiencing grade 1-2 vs. 3-4 neutropenia. Neutropenia had no significant effect on OS/DFS in patients receiving docetaxel–cisplatin–5-fluorouracil (TPF). Grade 1-2 (grade 3-4) neutropenia negatively influenced OS/DFS in patients receiving cisplatin–5-fluorouracil (PF) (PF and docetaxel– cisplatin [TP]; all p < 0.05). Neutropenia, two/three myelosuppression events, and high post-NLRmin ( 1.33) was most frequent on days 5-10, second and third week of IC-1, respectively. After adjustment for covariates, IC-1–induced neutropenia, two/three myelosuppression events, and post-NLRmin  1.33 were validated as negative predictors of OS/DFS (all p < 0.05); timing of neutropenia had no significant effect. Conclusion Occurrence of neutropenia, number of myelosuppression events, and high post-NLRmin during PF/TP IC-1 have prognostic value for poor survival in LANPC.
