Targeted Genome Profiling in Patients with Advanced Hepatocellular Carcinoma Treated with Sorafenib

Aims: Sorafenib is the only approved targeted agent as first-line treatment for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Unfortunately, many HCC patients are initially not responsive to sorafenib. Due to anatomic limitations and underlying liver dysfunction, genomic studies of HCC patients have not been actively pursued yet compared to other solid tumors; especially, in sorafenib-treated subset. In this study, we have retrospectively identified advanced HCC patients who had archival tumor tissues available for targeted genomic sequencing and who had been treated with sorafenib. Methods: We performed targeted genomic profiling for 381 cancer-related genes from 42 HCC (32 hepatitis B virus-related, 1 alcohol-related, 7 unknown) patients treated with sorafenib at Samsung Medical Center, Seoul, Korea from July 2008 to October 2013. We excluded 2 patients who were lost to follow up for evaluation of treatment response to sorafenib. Results: Of the 40 patients, there were 5 confirmed PRs, 7 SDs, and 28 PDs. In 40 patients, there were 6 CDKN2B amplifications, 4 NTRK1 amplifications, 2 MET amplifications, 2 FGF19 amplifications, 2 CCND1 amplifications, 1 EGFR amplification, 1 FGF23 amplification and 1 CCNE1 amplification. In cell cycle-related genes, those patients with aberrations were less likely to respond to sorafenib. Of note, two patients whose tumor had CCND1 amplifications had de novo resistance to sorafenib. Conclusions: Our study demonstrates inter-patient heterogeneity in advanced HCC patients and the role of cell cycle-associated genes in resistance mechanism to sorafenib is being investigated.
MILITARY Application through Innovative Case Study of FinTech Company

Purpose: This study aims to explore a new market called fintech, a combination of finance and technology; analyze Toss Corporation s innovation strategy, which secured high innovation performance and market share; and present ideas that can be applied to the military based on a simple remittance technology. Method: To analyze Toss s management strategy, we examined its profit-making model that helped maintain a competitive advantage and analyzed the market. In addition, the new innovative technologies for the promo-tion of fintech enterprises and security of the remittance technology were analyzed, along with applicable im-provements. Results: Toss maximized user convenience with its innovative “remittance technology” and achieved low-cost, high-efficiency promotion through Social Network Services. It has also proven to be a very safe system through its innovative security features that can also be applied to military organizations. On the system side, a user-centered security regulation and system construction method that combines security enhancement and conven-ience through the need for a more convenient working environment, the applicability of bio-certification systems, and security accountability were proposed. Conclusion: The analysis of Toss s innovation strategy shows that in order to succeed, a company must either explore new markets through idea development and innovation or provide customized services in a fully special-ized user-friendly manner. The military also needs to take immediate and flexible action, such as continuing to find ways to reduce inefficiency due to various security regulations and corresponding materials through such case studies.

본 연구의 목적은 교육훈련 만족도와 업무몰입, 이직의도의 관계를 일학습병행제의 관점에서 실시한 연구가 매우 부족한 실정에서 각각의 관계를 규명하고, 이를 통해 기업의 일학습병행제 참여를 증가시켜 개인과 조직의 성과를 증가시키고 이직률을 감소시키는 등 소기의 목적 달성을 위한 실증연구를 제공하는데 있다. 이를 위해 일학습병행제에 참여한 학습근로자 340명을 대상으로 교육훈련 만족도와 업무몰입, 이직의도와 관련하여 설문조사를 실시하여 구조적 관계를 확인하였다. 연구 결과 일학습병행제를 통해 받은 교육훈련에 대한 학습근로자들의 만족감이 업무몰입에 통계적으로 유의한 정적(+) 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었으며, 일학습병행제 참여를 통해 실시한 교육훈련에 대한 학습근로자들의 만족감은 이직의도에 통계적으로 유의한 부적(-) 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 일학습병행제 참여를 통한 업무몰입은 이직의도에 통계적으로 유의한 부적(-) 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었으며, 학습근로자의 교육훈련 만족도와 이직의도 사이에서 업무몰입의 매개효과는 통계적으로 유의미한 것으로 검정되었다. 마지막으로 연구 결과를 토대로 학문적, 실천적 시사점을 제시하고 향후 연구에 대해 제언하였다. This study aims to identify the relationship between the satisfaction with training, work engagement, and turnover intention from the various aspects of the work and learning in a dual system. The study found that the satisfaction of learning workers who participated in education and training programs through the work and learning dual system shows a statistically significant static( + ) effect on the work engagement, and statically significant negative(-) effects on turnover intention. The result proved that the statistically significant effect on work engagement resulted from the work and learning dual system which also made the statistically significant negative(-) effect on the turnover intention. The mediated effect of the work engagement between the satisfaction with training and training and the turnover intention of learning workers was a statistically significant static( + ) effect. In conclusion, this paper presented academic and practical implications drawn based on the result of research and also stated suggestions regarding future research.

본 논문은 게임이론으로 구성한 두 기업의 R&D경쟁을 특허획득의 확률적 모델로 재구성하고 두 기업의 특허획득확률 및 모방가능성변화에 따른 민감도분석을 실시하였다. 이 연구는 두 경쟁기업의 기대수익 및 R&D인센티브 변화를 시나리오별로 구분하여, 대칭 및 비대칭 R&D경쟁환경에서 기업들에게 각각 유리한 경쟁전략을 제시하고자 하였으며, 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 대칭 및 비대칭 R&D 경쟁모델을 비교한 결과, 시장 내에서 상대적 우위에 있는 기업은 대칭 R&D 투자 환경에서 더 큰 R&D 인센티브를 갖는 반면, 열세에 있는 기업은 특허획득과 무관하게 비대칭 R&D투자환경에서 더 큰 R&D 인센티브를 갖으므로, 전략적으로 비대칭 R&D경쟁을 하는 것이 유리하다. In this paper, we reconstructed the R&D competition of two firms into a probabilistic model of patent acquisition using game theory, and we conducted sensitivity analysis with respect to the probability of the firm’s patent acquisition and the change in the probability of imitation. This study categorized the expected profit of the two competing firms and the change in the R&D incentives by scenario, proposing an advantageous competition strategy for each firm that is competing in a symmetric or an asymmetric R&D environment. As a result, the comparison between the symmetric R&D competition model and the asymmetric R&D competition model shows that the firm with a comparative advantage has a higher incentive to invest in R&D in a symmetric R&D environment, and a symmetric R&D investment would put them in an advantageous position. On the other hand, the firms without a comparative advantage would have a higher incentive to invest in an asymmetric R&D investment model regardless of the probability of patent acquisition, which makes them strategically advantageous to engage in an asymmetric R&D competition.
