        Comparative proteomic analysis of parasitic loranthus seeds exposed to dehydration stress

        Parasitic loranthus [Taxillus chinensis (DC.) Danser] is an important medicinal plant that produces recalcitrant seeds that are sensitive to dehydration. Desiccation tolerance is critical for the survival of recalcitrant seeds in low-moisture environments. Clarifying how these seeds respond to desiccation is important for long-term conservation. Thus, the viability, germination, microstructure, and antioxidant enzyme activities of dehydrated parasitic loranthus seeds were investigated. Diverse organelles were degraded or deformed during dehydration treatments. Additionally, superoxide dismutase and catalase activities gradually decreased in response to desiccation stress. A proteomic analysis involving TMT-labeling and LC–MS/ MS were performed. A total of 1479 proteins were identifed, of which 141 were diferentially expressed proteins (DEPs) at 16 and 36 h after initiating the dehydration treatments. A functional annotation based on gene ontology revealed that the DEPs were mainly localized in chloroplasts and were related to energy metabolism, responses to stimuli, and the regulation of biological processes. A KEGG pathway enrichment analysis determined that several of the identifed proteins were associated with signal transductions, photosynthesis, and glycolysis/gluconeogenesis. The results suggest that the efcient removal of excessive ROS amounts may be crucial for promoting parasitic loranthus seed germination under dehydration stress conditions. A series of candidate dehydration stress-related proteins were identifed and may be relevant for enhancing the dehydration tolerance of the recalcitrant seeds. To the best of our knowledge, this is the frst study to elucidate the possible molecular mechanisms underlying the sensitivity of recalcitrant parasitic loranthus seeds to dehydration via a proteomic analysis involving TMT-labeling.

      • Comparisons of Production Costs of Japonica Rice Between China and Korea

        In order to compare the comparative advantage of japonica between China and Korea, the study analyzes the production cost. After comparing the cost and its structure, it is found that the production of Japonica in China has more comparative advantage obviously. But the increasing rate is much higher than that of Korea in recent 10 years. In the long term, the gap between two countries will become smaller, while the inferior advantage of Korea can`t be changed during short-mid term. Some measures should be adopted to develop the competitiveness of japonica in Korea, such as, adjusting agricultural structure, enlarging the land scale and making quality differentiation.

      • Does Darker Hide More Knowledge? The Relationship between Machiavellianism and Knowledge Hiding

        Machiavellianism is deemed as one of the dark personalities. Knowledge hiding refers to employee’s intentional attempt to withhold or conceal knowledge that has been requested by another person, and it is comprised of three related sub-dimensions: playing dumb, evasive hiding, and rationalized hiding. The present research examines the relationship between Machiavellianism and knowledge hiding, as well as the moderating roles of demographic variables (gender, age, and educational level). 360 individual data were used to test our hypotheses. Results show that Machiavellianism is positively related to the overall knowledge hiding, playing dumb, and evasive hiding, but unrelated to rationalized hiding. In addition, employees’ knowledge hiding decreases with age. The moderating effects of demographic variables are not supported in this study. Contributions, limitations, and future directions are discussed at the end.

        Effect of support on the performance of Mn–Cu oxides for low temperature selective catalytic reduction of NO with NH3

        MnOx–CuOx/TiO2 and MnOx–CuOx/Al2O3 catalysts were prepared by sol–gel method and used for low temperature selective catalytic reduction of NO with NH3. The results showed that MnOx–CuOx/TiO2 had better catalytic activity and SO2 resistance than MnOx–CuOx/Al2O3 in the temperature range of 100–250 ℃. The properties of the catalysts were characterized by using XRD, N2 adsorption, temperature programmed reduction (H2-TPR) and temperature programmed desorption (NH3-TPD). It was found that the support has a great impact on the acidity of catalyst; TiO2 and Al2O3 can promote the formation of Lewis acid sites and Bro¨ nsted acid sites respectively.

        Genetic polymorphisms in Na<sup>++</sup>-taurocholate co-transporting polypeptide (NTCP) and ileal apical sodium-dependent bile acid transporter (ASBT) and ethnic comparisons of functional variants of NTCP among Asian populations

        <OL><LI><P>Genetic variants of Na<SUP>++</SUP>-taurocholate co-transporting polypeptide (NTCP; <I>SLC10A1</I>) and ileal apical sodium-dependent bile acid transporter (ASBT; <I>SLC10A2</I>), which greatly contribute to bile acid homeostasis, were extensively explored in the Korean population and functional variants of NTCP were compared among Asian populations.</P></LI><LI><P>From direct DNA sequencing, six SNPs were identified in the <I>SLC10A1</I> gene and 14 SNPs in the <I>SLC10A2</I> gene. Three of seven coding variants were non-synonymous SNPs: two variants from <I>SLC10A1</I> (A64T, S267F) and one from <I>SLC10A2</I> (A171S). No linkage was analysed in the <I>SLC10A1</I> gene because of low frequencies of genetic variants, and the <I>SLC10A2</I> gene was composed of two separated linkage disequilibrium blocks contrary to the white population.</P></LI><LI><P>The stably transfected NTCP-A64T variant showed significantly decreased uptakes of taurocholate and rosuvastatin compared with wild-type NTCP. The decreased taurocholate uptake and increased rosuvastatin uptake were shown in the NTCP-S267F variant. The allele frequencies of these functional variants were 1.0% and 3.1%, respectively, in a Korean population. However, NTCP-A64T was not found in Chinese and Vietnamese subjects. The frequency distribution of NTCP-S267F in Koreans was significantly lower than those in Chinese and Vietnamese populations.</P></LI><LI><P>Our data suggest that NTCP-A64T and -S267F variants cause substrate-dependent functional change <I>in vitro</I>, and show ethnic difference in their allelic frequencies among Asian populations although the clinical relevance of these variants is remained to be evaluated.</P></LI></OL>

      • Effects of clopidogrel and clarithromycin on the disposition of sibutramine and its active metabolites M1 and M2 in relation to CYP2B6*6 polymorphism

        <OL><LI><P>Plasma concentrations of sibutramine and its two active metabolites after single oral dose of sibutramine were determined in Korean healthy male subjects with different CYP2B6 genotypes (CYP2B6*1/*1, *1/*6 and *6/*6), either alone or after four-day pretreatment with clopidogrel or clarithromycin.</P></LI><LI><P>The pretreatment with clopidogrel and clarithromycin raised the mean area under the concentration-time curve (AUC) of sibutramine by 163% and 255%, respectively.</P></LI><LI><P>Co-administration of clarithromycin, combined with <I>CYP2B6*6/*6</I> genotype, led to highest concentration of sibutramine.</P></LI><LI><P>The molar sum AUC (M1 + M2) was raised by 35% in the clopidogrel phase but not significantly affected by clarithromycin or CYP2B6 genotype.</P></LI><LI><P>The <I>CYP2B6*6/*6</I> subjects in the clopidogrel phase showed the highest molar AUC (M1 + M2) among three genotype groups throughout the three phases.</P></LI><LI><P>The exposure of sibutramine and its metabolites seemed to be associated with the CYP2B6 genotype.</P></LI><LI><P>The treatment of clopidogrel significantly altered the disposition of active metabolites as well as sibutramine, but clarithromycin only affects the disposition of sibutramine.</P></LI><LI><P>These results suggest that the perturbation of CYP2B6 activity may contribute to the inter-individual variation of sibutramine drug responses although the clinical relevance is remained to be established.</P></LI></OL>

        중국 현대 남성복 디자인 특성 연구 - 세계무대에 진출한 중국 디자이너 브랜드를 중심으로 -

        In this study, six mainland Chinese designer brands―Xander Zhou, Sankuanz, Sean Suen, Feng Chen Wang, Pronounce, and Angel Chen―were selected that had their works presented at both Chinese and global fashion shows between 2016 and 2021. By analyzing the design characteristics of each brand, it is possible to understand the style characteristics and trends of Chinese menswear designs. A case study approach was adopted utilizing literature data, whereby 1663 photos were collected from the fashion information website POP (www.pop-fashion.com). Changes in Chinese men's image and the menswear market were identified. The design characteristics of modern Chinese menswear are as follows. First, the results from analyzing the target brands show that each brand has a distinct personality. Compared with the traditional or formal style, urban casual and sports styles (based on street style) account for a larger proportion. Second, the boundaries between different styles are becoming ambiguous, and contrasting styles are harmoniously expressed by breaking down boundaries through changes and combinations of colors, materials, and details. Third, after examining the overall trend, 2018 was a watershed point, after which the design trend has changed from either conservative or exaggerated to a practical and everyday style, demonstrating a genderless trend.

        Reformability evaluation of blasting-enhanced permeability in in situ leaching mining of low-permeability sandstone-type uranium deposits

        It is essential to evaluate the blasting-enhanced permeability (BEP) feasibility of a low-permeability sandstone-type uranium deposit. In this work, the mineral composition, reservoir physical properties and rock mechanical properties of samples from sandstone-type uranium deposits were first measured. Then, the reformability evaluation method was established by the analytic hierarchy process-entropy weight method (AHP-EWM) and the fuzzy mathematics method. Finally, evaluation results were verified by the split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) experiment and permeability test. Results show that medium sandstone, argillaceous sandstone and siltstone exhibit excellent reformability, followed by coarse sandstone and fine sandstone, while the reformability of sandy mudstone is poor and is not able to accept BEP reservoir stimulation. The permeability improvement and the distribution of damage fractures before and after the SHPB experiment confirm the correctness of evaluation results. This research provides a reformability evaluation method for the BEP of the low-permeability sandstone-type uranium deposit, which contributes to the selection of the appropriate regional and stratigraphic horizon of the BEP and the enhanced ISL of the low-permeability sandstone-type uranium deposit.

        Analysis the role of arabidopsis CKRC6/ASA1 in auxin and cytokinin biosynthesis

        The crosstalk between auxin and cytokinin (CK) is important for plant growth and development, although the underlying molecular mechanisms remain unclear. Here, we describe the isolation and characterization of a mutant of Arabidopsis Cytokinin-induced Root Curling 6 (CKRC6), an allele of ANTHRANILATE SYNTHASE ALPHA SUBUNIT 1 (ASA1) that encodes the á-subunit of AS in tryptophan (Trp) biosynthesis. The ckrc6 mutant exhibits root gravitropic defects and insensitivity to both CK and the ethylene precursor 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylicacid (ACC) in primary root growth. These defects can be rescued by exogenous indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) or tryptophan (Trp) supplementation. Furthermore, our results suggest that the ckrc6 mutant has decreased IAA content, differential expression patterns of auxin biosynthesis genes and CK biosynthesis isopentenyl transferase (IPT) genes in comparison to wild type. Collectively, our study shows that auxin controls CK biosynthesis based on that CK sensitivity is altered in most auxin-resistant mutants and that CKs promote auxin biosynthesis but inhibit auxin transport and response. Our results also suggest that CKRC6/ASA1 may be located at an intersection of auxin, CK and ethylene metabolism and/or signaling.
