Objectives : Major depressive disorder (MDD) causes patients' distress and makes socioeconomic burden, both directly and indirectly. We used the concept of lost productive time (LPT) to estimate the indirect costs and calculated both absenteeism and presenteeism among workers with MDD. Mcthods : Depression group was recruited from workers visiting psychiatric outpatient clinic who had MDD without major physical or mental disorders (N= 106). Age and sex matched healthy control group was also recruited through advertisement (M=100). All participants completed a interview using WHO Health and Work Performance Questionnaire (HPQ), Job Stress Measurement Scale for Korean Employees, and Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression. Statistical analysis was performed with independent t-test or χ² test as characteristics of values (p=0.05). Results : The number of absence (0.94-day/month vs. 0.10-day/month, P=0.015) andthe numberofearly leaving (2.56-day/month vs. 0.24-day/month, P<0.001) were significantly higher in the depression group. Depression group evaluated their Perfor-mance level much lower than controls with significant value (5.16 vs. 7.62, P<0.001). In addition, depression group estimated their performance level during the last 4 weeks lower compared to the level of past 1-year (5.16 vs 6.63, P<0.001). The estimated costs of absenteeism in depression group were higher than controls by 2,520,000 Korean Won per year, and those of presenteeism were also higher by 4,880,000 Korean Won per year. The total costs of LPT in depression group were higher than controls by 7,400,000 Korean Won, which corresponds to 26% ofmean annual salary. In addition, the level of occupational stress, such as high demand and interpersonal conflict, was higher in the depression group. Conclusion : Major depressive disorder costs substantial productivity loss to workers and their company. Presenteeism imposes more time cost than absenteeism. Effectiveness trials are needed to devise cost-effective programs for the early detection and treatment of depression at the workplace.

Diltiazem and nifedipine, have been used throughout the world as an effective antianginal and antihypertensive agent. In order to increase the activity of these drugs, we synthesized the diltiazem-nifedipine coupling compounds. These compounds^(1-8) were tested for antihypertensive effect. Unfortunately, these compounds didn't show any promising activities.

본 연구에서는 펄스응답을 이용한 화학공정의 2차시간지연 모델의 해석을 위한 방법을 제시하였으며 이 모델은 공정제어기의 조율파라메타를 구하는 데 이용되었다. 조율기법은 열린루프 조율지침과 닫힌루프 조율지침을 복합아여 적용하였으며 또 최대의 피크주파수를 갖도록 하는 닫힌루프법에 대한 새로운 지침을 제시하였다. 제시된 방법으로 짧은 시간에 공정해석을 할 수 있고 테스트중에 공정에 어떠한 심한 동요나 진동이 생길 가능성은 매우 적다. 닫힌루프 조율지침으로서 최대크기의 피크진폭비를 갖는 닫힌루프 지침이 이용되며 이득여유나 위상여유가 열린루프 지침으로서 이용된다. 최대크기의 피크진폭비를 갖는 닫힌루프법의 개선된 수행을 위하여 공정의 최대크기 피크진폭비를 갖는 닫힌루프법과 감쇠계수 사이의 관계를 분석하고 조율시에 적용하기 위해 해석하였다. 네가지 공정예로서 제안된 기법과 기존의 조율지침을 적용한 기법들과 비교하여 본 연구의 방법에 대한 우수성을 입증하였다.
Development of a mini-actuator for flow control

A mini-actuator for lab and pilot scale experiment is developed using low-cost and readily available materials since currently available actuators are mostly large size and high cost, and its performance is examined by implementing the actuator in a liquid flow experiment. The precision, reproducibility and hysteresis of the actuator assembled with a ball valve are inspected and found to be satisfactory for lab use. Since it is made of common materials and easy to assemble, the actuator can be utilized in the flow adjustment of a wide range of experiments. The details of the actuator assembling, actuator control and interfacing with a PC are addressed here.

<P>OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to compare the outcomes of robotic prostatectomy (RP) in patients with clinically localized or locally advanced prostate cancer (PC). PATIENTS AND METHODS: Between July 2005 and February 2008, we performed RP in 357 patients by using the da Vinci robot system and a transperitoneal approach. We defined locally advanced PC as cases with a clinical T-stage >/=T3a with any serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) or Gleason score. Among the 321 men not treated with neoadjuvant hormonal therapy, 200 patients had clinically localized PC and 121 patients had locally advanced PC. We compared perioperative variables and early surgical outcomes between the two groups. RESULTS: Although advanced PC patients had significantly higher mean preoperative PSA levels, prostatectomy Gleason scores, and extracapsular extension rates, there were no significant differences in mean operation time, estimated blood loss, duration of bladder catheterization, hospital stay, or initiation of a regular postoperative diet between the two groups. Except for some early cases, a bilateral extended lymphadenectomy was performed without difficulty in both groups. Although both the frequency of lymph node invasion and the positive surgical margin rates were higher in the advanced PC patients, the positive surgical margin rate (48.8%) in the present study was similar to those of open radical retropubic prostatectomy in other studies. The overall complication rate did not differ between the two groups. Two intraoperative rectal injuries occurred in patients with locally advanced PC and were closed primarily without specific problems, except for 1 case. CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggest that RP may be performed safely on patients with locally advanced PC.</P>

<P>Robotic prostatectomy (RP) has been reported to be technically challenging in patients with a history of prior complex lower abdominal or pelvic surgery, morbid obesity, large prostate, prior pelvic irradiation, neoadjuvant hormonal therapy, or prior prostate surgery. In this paper, we report an experience of RP in a prostate cancer patient with abdominoperineal resection, adjuvant chemotherapy, and pelvic irradiation for rectal cancer.</P>

In the normal office building, the energy consumption to maintain the reasonable intensity of illumination for the work by using the artificial illumination occupies 30% or greater of the whole building electricen ergy consumption. If the depend ability of the artificial illumination is dropt by positively using the natural lighting from the outside, the large amount of electrical energy can be saved, in addition the more nice visual environment for work can be created. Daylight is lighting source that most closely match visual response of the human, because sunlight and skylight achieve the harmony. For this reason, the daylight of small amount than amount of the artificial lighting source also can give the same effect in work activities of human. In addition, if there is daylight at the window of the building, the energy can be saved by controlling the artificial lighting. In this paper, in the building using the photovoltaic power generation analyze the correlation between the amount of energy generated by photo voltaicand indoor illumination and this was proved through the simulation with Relux 2010. In addition, the amount of daylight inflow in the room and distribution was drawn by the equation and the ratio for the sectional dimming control of each lighting equipment was predicted and the energy saving amount according to this was calculated. As are sult, the indoor illumination was satisfied with recommended illumination value of the office and consumption power could be reduced approximately with 20∼70%.
