      • CPPU유도 참다래 단위결과 과실의 특성

        This study was designed to find out an alternative to artificial pollination in kiwifruit production. The parthenocarpic kiwifruits induced by (N-2-chloro-4-pyridyl)-N-phenyl urea (CPPU) treatment tended to be less attractive due to deep furrowing and excessive outgrowth of stigma in mature fruits. Especially, on flower buds after CPPU spray, severe fruit-drop was induced. It was considered enough to spray CPPU at more than 4ppm to attain sufficient fruit set but needed to spray CPPU at more than 16ppm to attain marketable fruit size. When CPPU at 16ppm was sprayed to the same flower once, twice or three time, the fruits received CPPU treatment more time was larger but less attractive. Application of CPPU mare than at 16ppm seemed to be necessary to produce fruits heavier than 80 gr. Enlargement of the fruits received CPPU treatment mainly occurred cross wisely and vertical development was not affected and thickening of outer pericarp primarily contributed to the fruit enlargement. Difference in flesh color or contents of vitamin C and sugars between control fruits and CPPU-treated fruits was not noticed. In conclusion, CPPU treatment to induce parthenocarpic kiwifruits could be commercially applicable, only the method for improving fruit appearance is worked out.

      • Thermal MOCVD와 DC pulsed PA-MOCVD에 의해 증착된 TiN 박막 연구

        유기화합물(TDEAT;Ti[N(C2H5)2]4)과 NH3를 이용하여 thermal MOCVD와 dc pulsed plasma assisted MOCVD(PA-MOCVD)인 2종류의 TiN박막을 증착하여 비교하였다. TiN박막의 특성분석은 XRD, AES, FE-SEM, α-step과 XPS로 연구하였다. DC pulsed plasma assisted MOCVD로 증착된 Tin박막은 ion bombardment 효과에 의해 열적으로 증착된 것보다 더 fine한 columnar구조를 나타내므로써 막의 결정질이 향상되었다. 플라즈마에서의 아르곤 이온의 충돌로 인해 탄소(C)는 오히려 유기 화합물보다 탄소 라디칼로 존재하였다. 따라서 탄소 라디갈은 기판의 강한 (-) potential에 의해 TiN박막에 trap되기 때문에 탄소(C)는 열적으로 증착된 TiN박막보다 더 많은 양이 존재하는 것으로 추정된다. By using of (TDEAT;Ti[N(C2H5)2]4)and ammonia gas source, we deposited two different TiN thin films with thermal MOCVD and dc pulsed plasma assisted MOCVD (PA-MOCVB). The properties of TiN thin films were studied by XRD, AES, FE - SEM, α - step and XPS analyses in this work. The TiN films deposited by dc pulsed PA - MOCVD have a little higher density and a fine columnar structure, compared with thermally deposited TiN thin films. This may be due to ion bombardment effect resulting in improved crystallinity in films. Carbon in the film may exist in the form of carbonic radical rather than organic compound because of collision with Ar ion in the plasma. Consequently, the content of carbon in the film of dc pulsed PA - MOCVD was higher than that in thermally deposited TiN films, because carbon radicals could be trapped in the film by strong negative potential of the substrate.

        Enamel matrix derivative(EMDOGAIN^(R))을 이용한 상악 소구치의 자가이식 치험례

        The success of tooth transplantation or replantation depends on the viability of periodontal ligament in the transplanted tooth. Mechanical injury to periodontal tissues frequently results in dental root resorption and ankylosis, which leads to the failure of transplantation or replantation. Enamel matrix derivative (EMD) has been recently used to induce periodontal regeneration. In this report, we show a clinical case of EMD application in the transplantation of an inversely impacted and immature tooth. An impacted second premolar was found in the right maxilla of a 14 year-old girl. The tooth was inversely impacted and the root formation was incomplete. When transplantation was carried out. EMD was applied to the periodontal tissues of the extracted premolar. The tooth was fixed at the correct position and the clinical condition was followed for evaluation for 3 months. Radiographs after 3 months exhibited new bone formation surrounding the transplanted tooth. There were no signs of root resorption or ankylosis, and reconstruction of the bone defect area at the maxilla was also found. Short-term results from this case indicated that EMD application was effective in the transplantation of an inversely impacted and immature tooth. In adddition, EMD might contribute to obtain good healing without ankylosis. Further follow-up observations are necessary to evaluate the regenerative effects of EMD.

      • Application of Stopping Rule of Pegylated Interferon-Alpha 2a Therapy to Korean Patients with Chronic Hepatitis B

        Aims: In pegylated interferon-alpha 2a (PEG-IFN) of chronic hepatitis B (CHB), the decline of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) titers after 12-week therapy has been considered as a potent predictor that can determine discontinuation of therapy. In this study, we evaluated treatment response in Korean patients with CHB after 12-week PEG-IFN therapy. Methods: 100 patients with CHB were prospectively analyzed from April 2015 to September 2016 in multi-centers. After 12-week use of PEG-IFN, we evaluated the changes of HBsAg, heapatitis B virus (HBV) DNA, and other liver-related markers in patients with CHB. Results: Of 100 patients with CHB, heapatitis B e antigen (HBeAg)- positive patients were 75, and HBeAg-negative patients were 25. After 12-week PEG-IFN therapy, the number of HBeAg-positive patients with HBsAg less than 20,000 IU/mL was 61 (82.43%), and the number of HBeAg-negative patents with declined HBsAg titers or decreased HBV DNA levels more than 2 log IU/mL was 19 (76.00%). In HBeAg-positive patients, the decline of HBV DNA and HBsAg levels after 12 weeks was 1.83 ± 2.05 log10 IU/mL (p < 0.0001) and 6452.33 ± 11266.74 IU/mL (p <0.0001), respectively. In HBeAg-negative patients, the decrease of HBV DNA and HBsAg levels after 12 weeks was 2.55 ± 2.11 log10 IU/mL (p < 0.0001) and 1940.71 ± 5071.62 IU/mL (p < 0.0001), respectively. The number of patients with HBsAg titers less than 1,500 IU/mL after 12 weeks was 14 (18.92%) in HBeAg-positive patients and 17 (68.00%) in HBeAg-negative patients, respectively. Conclusions: As applying 12-week stopping rule, early anti-viral response rate of PEG-IFN was confirmed in Korean patients with CHB, and we could apply this results to determine patients who will continue long-term PEG-IFN therapy in the early period of treatment.

        급성 골수성 백혈병이 발생한 가족 1 예

        Backgound: The genetic factors involved in the etiology of human leukmia have been discussed including the occurence of leukemia in twins, leukmia in relatives of leukemic patients, the relation of genotypes and phenotypes to leukemia, and the complication of leukemia in various congenital diseases associated with chromosomal abnormalties and/or immunodeficiencies, but there are many problems that remain to be clarified. Case: We experienced 2 cases of acute myelogenous leukemia within a family. Young brother and elderly sister whose father had been died of acute leukemia was diagnosed as AML (M4) and AML (M1), respectively. The sister aged 19 presented with dizziness and dyspnea was given Ara-c and Daunorubicin chemotheraphy but expired without response. Young brother aged 17 presented with fever and epistaxis was responded well to the same regimen chemotheraphy, in remission. But his leukemia was relapsed despite of following 2 cycles of consolidation chemotherapy, and died of 7 months after treatment. Known leukemogenic factor such as, radiation, drug, chemical exposure was excluded in these patient. Conclusion: Although about 130 cases of familial leukemia has been described to date in other countries, no case has been reported in Korea. So we report this case with brief review of the literiture.

        Bupivacaine에 의한 심기능장애 치료시 Insulin의 효과

        Background : Bupivacaine blocks the sodium channels enhanced by hypokalemia. Bupivacaine also inhibits the transient outward K+ current (I_(to)). Insulin, in contrast, enhances Ito and induces hypokalemia. The current study was performed to confirm the efficacy of insulin fur the treatment of bupivacaine-induced cardiac depression in dogs. Methods : After dogs were anesthetized with pentobarbital, 0.5% bupivacaine was administered at a rate of 0.5 mg/kg/min until S∇O_2 decreased to 60% or less, which was defined as the point of cardiac depression in this study. The insulin group (n = 9, 16.9 ± 3.1 kg) received 2 ml/kg of a mixed solution of regular insulin 30 units and 5% D/W 50 ml, followed by a glucose irusion (50 ml 5% dextrose in water) over 15 min. The control group (n - 9, 15.8 ± 3.4 kg) received 2 ml/kg of 5% D/W 50 ml. followed by a normal saline infusion over 15 min. Mean arterial pressure (MAP), heart rate (HR), pulmonary artery pressure (PAP), central venous pressure (CVP), pulmonary capillary wedpressure (PCWP), cardiac output (CO), S∇O_2, blood gas analysis, serum electrolytes, ECG and the local anesthetic concentraton of the blood were taken. Results : Changes in hemodynamic variables and ECG of the insulin group normalized more rapidly than in the control group. There were no statistical differences in serum Na^+and Ca^(2+)concentrators between the groups. The serum Kconcentration of the insulin group was lower than that of the control group after 5 min of lesuscitation. The changes in plasma bupivacaine concentration over time were not significantly different between groups. Conclusions : Insulin is effective in reversing bupivacaine-induced cardiac depression. This study suggests insulin can be considered an immediate treatment for cardiac depression by bupivacaine. (Korean J Anesthesiol 2000; 38: 130~138)

      • Design of optimized cantilever form of a piezoelectric energy harvesting system for a wireless remote switch

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>A smart lighting system can be controlled using a smartphone and/or human activated wireless remote switches. We designed a wireless remote switch using a cantilever type piezoelectric energy harvester to make a battery-less IoT node device that has high output power but a small tip displacement through frequency up-conversion. The purpose of this design is to overcome the conventional volume problem of the piezoelectric cantilever beam. In order to apply the high resonance frequency to the model at constant displacement, we set the limiting conditions of maximum vertical displacement of the cantilever beam to be 1 mm and a human input pressing force of 5–8 N, the force generally required when a human presses a switch button. In these limiting conditions, different shapes of steel substrate were used to find the optimal harvester that meets the limiting conditions and generates about 65 μJ of energy at 5 kΩ resistive loads under free vibration. Using this harvester, we designed a wireless remote switch with an impact type mechanical mechanism with two cantilever type energy harvesters to generate 140 μJ of energy, requiring no impedance matching circuit. This energy was then used to power a microcontroller to transmit data packets using ZigBee Green Power communication. Three identical data packets were transmitted by the wireless remote control switch to ensure data reception by the smart LED bulb and to toggle the bulb on or off state. Finally, this study successfully contributed to elevating the possibility of commercialization of the piezoelectric harvester based wireless remote switch for IoT.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> We designed a wireless remote switch using piezoelectric energy harvester to make a battery-less IoT node device. </LI> <LI> The device can be self-powered and requires small displacement through frequency up-conversion concept. </LI> <LI> Impact type mechanism was utilized for the switch with two cantilever type harvesters to generate 140 μJ. </LI> <LI> Finally, we succeeded to transmit the data packets of bulb on/off to the receiver by our device. </LI> </UL> </P>
