        유아 영재의 정서지능과 지능, 창의성과의 관련성 탐색

        The purposes of this study were: 1) to investigate developmental trends in young gifted children's emotional intelligence used the emotional intelligence rating scale for preschool children(Kim, 1998). 2) to investigate the relationship between young gifted children's emotional intelligence, intelligence and creativity. Subjects for this study were 36 young gifted children, 4 to 6 years of age. To analyze the relationship between emotional intelligence, intelligence and creativity, three instruments were used: The Emotional Intelligence Rating Scale for Preschool Children, The Korean Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence(K-WPPSI) and Torrance Test of Creative Thinking(TTCT). The result from this study were as follows: First, significant age and gender differences were not found in emotional intelligence. Second, there were no significant differences between emotional intelligence and intelligence, and emotional intelligence and creativity.

        Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been panedemic and remains one of the most commom STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods: For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results: In 1996, 139 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 53(39.0%) were PPNG. Conclusion: Our results suggests that after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is gradually declining.

        Purpose: This study was designed to investigate sample’s general characteristics and compare depression degree among sample’s general characteristics and students’ major(nursing vs. other major). Methods: The subjects consisted of 318 university students. Data was collected by self-reported questionnaires, which were constructed BDI score. Data was analyzed by the SPSS/PC WIN 19.0 program. Results: The depression of nursing students and other major students was not significantly different according to BDI score. Statistically significant difference was identified among sleeping. Conclusion: Specific study focused on the practice time should be done to confirm the depression of nursing major and other majors. Detailed support programs which specifically deal with sleeping should be developed to effectively reduce the harmful effects of individual vulnerability. Therefore, prevention and management system to reduce depression degree for university students is needed.

      • Skin regeneration effect and chemical composition of essential oil from Artemisia Montana.

        <P>Artemisia montana Pampan (Compositae) (AMP) contains various compounds, including phenolic acids, alkaloids, and essential oil. It has been widely used in oriental medicine due to a variety of biological effects. However, the biological activity of the essential oil from AMP (AMPEO) on skin has not been investigated. In the present study, AMPEO was evaluated for its composition and its effect on cellular events (migration and proliferation) related to skin regeneration using normal human keratinocytes (HaCats). AMPEO, which was extracted by steam distillation, contained 42 components. AMPEO increased proliferation in HaCats in a dose-dependent manner (EC 50, 8.5 ng/mL) and did not affect migration. AMPEO also enhanced the phosphorylation of Akt and ERK 1/2 and induced the synthesis of type IV collagen, but not type I collagen in HaCats. In addition, AMPEO promoted wound closure in the dorsal side skin of rat tail. These results demonstrated that AMPEO extracted by steam distillation induced proliferation and synthesis of type IV collagen in human skin keratinocytes, and may thereby exert positive effects on skin regeneration and wound healing in human skin.</P>

      • Improving microbial inactivation effect for black pepper using intense pulsed light combined with TiO2 photocatalyst

        Black pepper (piper nigrium L.) is a spice commonly used but has a problem with microbial control, so it needs non-thermal decontamination method for product quality of dried foods. Intense pulsed light (IPL) technology is a non-thermal method for superficial decontamination of foods to inactivate pathogenic microorganisms by using high peak power and short duration pulses of a broad-spectrum (170-2600 nm) using a xenon lamp. The objective of this study was to reduce total number of bacteria in ground black pepper effectively by combined treatments of IPL and immobilized TiO2 photocatalyst. Self-designed cyclone type of pilot-scaled IPL device (> 5 kg/h) was used, which makes samples to flow cyclonically in a vacuum space longer time rather than moving vertically. Using this device alone, without TiO2 coated, 0.3-0.6 log reductions were achieved under a total energy fluence of 14.85 J/cm2 (DC voltage; 1200, 1800, and 2400 V, pulse duty; 0.5, 2.1, and 3.0 ms, treatment time; 60, 120, 180, 240, and 300 s, frequency; 2 Hz). Subsequently, TiO2-coated quartz plates with different layers between light source and samples were installed to observe the effect of photocatalyst and the efficiency of decontamination was improved slightly. However to increase the effect of the photocatalyst, several factors (TiO2 particle size, TiO2 film thickness and transparency, adhesiveness between quartz and photocatalyst, etc.) need to be concerned additionally. Nevertheless, the application of IPL treatment combined with TiO2 photocatalyst offers a potential of effective non-thermal decontamination method for dealing with powder foods in food industry.

        Relationship between Adipose Tissue Derived Hormones and Cardiometabolic Risk according to Obesity Status

        Adiponectin, and leptin are adipose tissue derived hormones affecting metabolic status. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between circulating adiponectin and leptin levels, and cardiometabolic parameters by obesity status among healthy women without metabolic disease. Finally 141 participants were included in the analyses and categorized into three groups by their body mass index (kg/m<sup>2</sup>) (normal weight: 18.5 ≤ body mass index [BMI] < 23.0, n=65; overweight: 23.0 ≤ BMI < 25.0, n=26; obesity: 25.0 ≤ BMI, n=50). Overweight and obesity groups were older, and had significantly higher levels of adiposity, blood pressure, fasting glucose, triglyceride, and high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), and lower levels of high density lipoprotein (HDL)-cholesterol than normal weight group. Circulating leptin levels, and leptin to adiponectin ratio were highest in obesity group, but circulating adiponectin levels were not statistically different among the three groups. Circulating leptin levels were negatively correlated with adiponectin levels, and leptin to adiponectin ratio. In addition, leptin levels were positively correlated with waist circumference, systolic blood pressure, insulin resistance, and hs-CRP, and negatively with HDL-cholesterol. However, circulating adiponectin levels were negatively correlated only with waist circumference, and hs-CRP. These patterns were retained after adjusted for confounding factors such as age, smoking and drinking habits, menopausal status and total calorie intake. In conclusion, circulating adiponectin and leptin levels according to obesity status were differently observed among healthy women, and circulating leptin levels may be a more sensitive parameter for cardiometabolic risk in healthy women.

      • FISH mapping of 5S and 45S ribosomal DNAs in three wild Chrysanthemum species

        Chrysanthemums (Asteraceae) are important ornamental crops in worldwide that are well known as commercial valuable cultivars for cut flowers, potted plants, and garden flowering plants. Genus chrysanthemum consisted of 41 species that are mostly distributed in East Asia. Chrysanthemum has diverse ploidy levels with the basic chromosome number of x=9 from 2n=2x=18 (diploid) to 2n=10x=90 (decaploid). Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) is a useful tool for studying the distribution of ribosomal DNAs. In this study, we have confirmed ploidy level by chromosome counting method. The somatic metaphase chromosome numbers were observed 2n=2x=18 in Chrysanthemum boreale, and 2n=6x=54 in C. indicum and C. zawadskii. More detailed Karyotype was constructed based on FISH method using 5S and 45S rDNA probes. Two (2) loci of 5S rDNA signals were detected in interstitial region of long arm chromosome in C. boreale and six (6) loci were in C. indicum and C. zawadskii. All of 45S rDNAs were located in terminal region of short arm chromosome which were visualize in six (6) loci in C. boreale and C. indicum and twelve(12) loci in C. zawadskii. In this study, it was the main topic to perform physical mapping of the location of 5S and 45S rDNA. Three of wild chrysanthemum showed variations in number of ribosomal DNAs. In the present investigation will help to further study of genome sequencing project in chrysanthemum.

        노인의 시지각 특성을 반영한 지하철역 사인시스템 평가

        A subway station is a public space and the complicated way-finding is requested in the subway station because transfer occurs a lot. Therefore a signage system is necessary to support effective and easy way-finding. But many of signage system is usually designed for who have normal visual perception and not for the elderly people. So it is important to apply characteristics of the elderly who have some visual perceptional problem in the aging society. The purpose of this study is to plan the signage system of subway station considering the elderly visual characteristics. The spatial scope is 5 subway station- Jongno 3-ga, Cheongnyangni, Express Terminal, Sadang and Yeonsinnae station and the scope of the elderly is 65 years of age or older. The methods of this study are based on the literature review, field investigation about 5 subway station and interview with the elderly who uses subway station. The results of this study are followed; First, Some of the stations have excessive and deteriorated signage. These cause information overload so it is needed to adjust the ratio of form of signage system. Second, color and pictogram have low consistency. The other way character and form are more proper and have clearer distinction than other factors. However, overall arrangement should be adjusted to satisfy the purpose of information. Third, as a result of interview with the elderly who use the subway station, they prefer receding color for way-finding and this result is different from the literature review. So, an additional interview and research about color combination are needed. This study investigates about the way of signage system design at subway station for the elderly and proposes the practical guideline. Henceforth, subway station should provide more effective signage system design to support the elderly people through following research.

        Common features of atopic dermatitis with hypoproteinemia

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the causes, symptoms, and complications of hypoproteinemia to prevent hypoproteinemia and provide appropriate treatment to children with atopic dermatitis. Methods: Children diagnosed with atopic dermatitis with hypoproteinemia and/or hypoalbuminemia were retrospectively reviewed. The patients' medical records, including family history, weight, symptoms, treatment, complications, and laboratory test results for allergies and skin cultures, were examined. Results: Twenty-six patients (24 boys) were enrolled. Seven cases had growth retardation; 7, keratoconjunctivitis; 6, aural discharges; 5, eczema herpeticum; 4, gastrointestinal tract symptoms; and 2, developmental delays. In 21 cases, topical steroids were not used. According to the blood test results, the median values of each parameter were elevated: total IgE, 1,864 U/mL; egg white-specific IgE, $76.5kU_A/L$; milk IgE, $20.5kU_A/L$; peanut IgE, $30kU_A/L$; eosinophil count, $5,810/{\mu}L$; eosinophil cationic protein, $93.45{\mu}g/L$; and platelet count, $666.5{\times}10^3/{\mu}L$. Serum albumin and total protein levels decreased to 2.7 g/dL and 4.25 g/dL, respectively. Regarding electrolyte abnormality, 10 patients had hyponatremia, and 12, hyperkalemia. Systemic antibiotics were used to treat all cases, and an antiviral agent was used in 12 patients. Electrolyte correction was performed in 8 patients. Conclusion: Hypoproteinemia accompanying atopic dermatitis is common in infants younger than 1 year and may occur because of topical steroid treatment continuously being declined or because of eczema herpeticum. It may be accompanied by growth retardation, keratoconjunctivitis, aural discharge, and eczema herpeticum and can be managed through skin care and topical steroid application without intravenous albumin infusion.
