Digital Archive in the Reservation for Hakka Regions in Taiwan

The methods to preserve data are improving with every passing day. Paper is mostly used for preserving information in the past. However, paper documentation easily gets damage while time goes by. The information technology helps conserve image data for a longer period of time and restore data in a small r form which is easily disseminated and recyclable. Consequently, the purposes to share resources with and to spread tourism to other audiences are achieved by applying the advanced information technology. This study seeks to establish a digital collection website of Hakka cultural scenery specifically in Jutian, Neipu regions in Taiwan by applying Dreamweaver with PHP and MySQL database. A field study is designed for data collections that include irmge photographs and archive. Data then are classified to be the basis of the interface design. After the completion of the digital archive, the purpose of this study can be fulfilled. That is, to take advantage of the far-reaching web-network, audiences around the world can appreciate the beauty of the Hakka culture.

The National Digital Archives Program and the Council for Hakka Affairs both thus hope to preserve the cultural assets more detailed and accurate. As the cultural impacts continue, how to well-preserve the traditional cultural assets become an essential task to pass down permanently. Geographic Information System (GIS) Technology Analysis and Implementation A Query System for Hakka Area Tourist Attraction of Southern Taiwan

Tourism Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communication(MOTC) and The Council for Hakka Affairs (CHA) are promoting tourist attraction resources of hakka areas actively, and they also expect the data can be shared through the Internet. Furthermore, Geographic Information System are not only a system to show geographic graphic but also the best database to save space data. Nowadays, the applications of Geographic Information System in non-hakka areas are much more than in hakka areas, so this is value to advance. This research will investigate the tourist attraction resources of hakka area deeply, and establish a complete database with a query system through the Geographic Information System. Then it can supply for the tourists getting the traveling information and tourist attraction of hakka area fastly.

In the past years, liberalizing casino operation inTaiwan has been long a controversial issue. They questioned why Hualien shouldn``t follow the path to success in Las Vegas to resolve povelty and economical depression commonly occun``ed in Hualien area. Due to tourism downtum in recent years, as a result aggravating the budget deficit of local government, casino establishment is urgently considered as a way to prosper local economic activities. Casinos will be legally established at the time of ripeness in the near future. Based on this assumption, this study summarizes preliminarily a number issues potentially present on the development of gaming business at Hualien with respect to infi-asnucture and tourism development at Hualien according to the analyses of reviewing the literature on the definition and categories of casino, influence of gaming indusny in all aspects, and cun``Cntsituation and perspective of tourism development at Hualien. This study firstly employed Participatory Local Appraisal to form a consensus from local resident for sustainable development of Hualien area. Then, SWOT matrix analysis, expert judged Fuzzy Delphi method to determine the most valuable issues on the development of casino industly at Hualien in both respects.

Gambling proponents usually took the gambling industry in Las Vegas as example and argued that casino liberalization at Las Vegas , has attracted tremendous tourism benefits and brought economic prosperity to the surrounding region. They questioned why Hualien shouldn't follow the path to success in Las Vegas to resolve poverty and economical depression commonly occurred in Hualien area In Taiwan, Hualien enjoys the best development in infrastructure and various industries, visiting crowd of millions of every year, match every large-scale activity that the government of Hualien County plans elaborately (such as the main road of star light, the activity that the aboriginal holds a memorial ceremony for in bumper harvest year .etc.) Due to tourism downturn in recent years, as a result aggravating the budget deficit of local government, casino establishment is urgently considered as a way to prosper local economic activities. The policy and legislation of Taiwan government towards this issue remain conservative. Howe, most advanced countries in the world view liberalization and legalization of gambling as an effective method to regulate the long-existing, problematic industry. It is believed that casino liberalization in Taiwan is about a matter of time. Casinos will be legally established at the time of ripeness in the near future. Hakka Image Application to Food Packaging Design for Hakka Regions in Taiwan

The purpose of this research was to investigate images used in the packaging design for Hakka food. In recent years, the Council for Hakka Affairs, Executive Yuan, Taiwan has used the packaging design for Hakka as image codes to represent Hakka culture, and successfully integrated those codes into packaging designs for Hakka merchandise. Based on a literature review, the study summarized 15 design elements regarding Hakka images and randomly selected 20 Hakka food packaging samples from markets. A visual image analysis was conducted by applying the Semantic Differential and Likert Scale. The results found that "tung blossom", "Hakka women", and "Hakka broad rice noodles" were the three most representative images of Hakka culture. Moreover, "simplification", "refinement", and "internationalization" were found to be the most popular characteristics that formed a new trend in Hakka packaging design. We expect the Hakka packaging design will inspire creativity and promote business development of Hakka Culture Industry.
