      • A Basic Study on Leaf and Stem Production of Angelica acutiloba

        This study was conducted to develop effective production system in greenhouse for leaves and stems of Angelica acutiloba by using connect pots in 2003 and 2004. Seed germination rate and plant biomass of Angelica acutiloba collected in 2004 were higher than those harvested in 2003. Germination rate of Angelica acutiloba seeds collected in 2003 was 10%, while germination rate of seeds collected in 2004 was above 90%. Especially, plant growth and yield of Angelica acutiloba grown in connect pots sized with 4×4×5cm(length×width×height) were the highest. These results indicate that leaf and stem production of Angelica acutiloba can be improved by using connect pots and optimizing seed collecting time in greenhouse.

      • Study on Leaf Production of Angelica acutiloba by Mulching with Polyethylene Film

        This study was conducted to produce effectively more leaves of Angelica acutiloba through year-round production system by using various mulching materials and polyethylene(PE) tunnel. Soil temperature by covering treatment was higher in PE mulching and PE tunnel than in rice straw mulching, especially showing the highest temperature in PE tunnel from April through May. Water content of soil was higher in PE mulching than in non-mulching. Leaf production of Angelica acutiloba through year-round production showed the highest in PE tunnel and root production in PE mulching. These results suggest that leaf production of Angelica acutiloba can be maximized through PE tunnel cultivation system.

      • Effect of Activated Charcoal on Growth of Zingiber mioga ROSC

        Activate charcoal (AC) can be utilized as a soil conditioner in agricultural crop areas. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of AC on growth and yield of Zingiber mioga ROSC as affected by different amounts of AC. The results obtained are summarized as follows. Growth characteristics including plant height and leaf length were the highest when activated charcoal added with 10-30%, suggesting that optimum amount of activated charcoal was ranged from 10 to 30%. Growth and enlargement of the root were improved by 10% AC with higher rhizome length and weight.

        2010 해남, 평창, 원주지역 갈대 등 야초류의 이용실태와 사료가치 평가

        본 연구는 부존 조사료자원 이용으로 수입사료를 줄이고 사료비를 절감하고자 2010년도에 전남 해남(간척지), 강원 평창(강변), 원주(섬강변), 전남 영광(와탄강변) 등 4개 지역에서 갈대와 억새 등 야초 자생지를 탐색하고, 수확·이용실태 조사와 함께 사료가치를 분석하였다. 전남 해남 해남목장 내 갈대(Phragmites communis) 위주의 야초 자생지는 300 ha로 예년에는 2회 곤포작업하여 연간 사일리지로 2,300~2,500톤(ha당 8톤)을 생산하였으나 2010년도는 1회 곤포조제로 사일리지 2,000톤(ha당 7톤)을 생산하였다. 유통가격은 롤 당 53천원으로 ㎏당 110원이었다. 곤포는 전량 자가소비하며, 외부 작업단에 롤 당 26천원의 작업비를 지불하였다. 연간 조수입은 2억 2,260만원이며, 소득은 1억원 수준(345천원/ha)이었다. 초장 150 ㎝의 갈대는 조단백질 8.4%, 상대사료가치 71.9 (건초 5등급), 건물 소화율 60.1%로 사료가치는 볏짚에 비해 약간 나은 것으로 평가되었다. 갈대 사일리지의 사료가치와 유기산 함량은 동일 지역에서 동일한 재료로 사일리지를 조제하더라도 수확시기에 따라 차이가 컸으며(CP 4.7~6.4%, RFV 62.2~78.9, 건물 소화율 41.9~53.9%), 갈대 사일리지의 품질은 수단그라스에 비해 불량하였다. 강원 평창 강변 자생갈대의 사료가치는 초장이 79, 117, 121, 142㎝로 생육이 진행됨에 따라 낮아져, 조단백질은 각각 13.9%에서 7.6%로, 상대사료가치는 90.7 (건초 3등급)에서 76.1 (건초 4등급)로, 건물 소화율은 72.9%에서 54.7%로 감소하였다. 원주 섬강 주변 야초류는 곤포수확 작업에 어려움이 있었으며, 초장 130 cm의 갈대는 조단백질 8.5%, 상대사료가치 82.3 (건초 4등급), 건물 소화율 70.2%로 사료가치는 높았으며, 220㎝의 성숙한 갈대는 조단백질 10.2%, 상대사료가치 65.1 (건초 5등급), 건물 소화율 48.9%로 볏짚 대비 조금 나은 것으로 평가되었다. 전남영광지역에서는 와탄천 주변에 자생하는 갈대를 수거 이용하고자 시도하였으나 경제성이 없어 중단하였다. 이상의 결과를 종합하여볼 때, 갈대, 억새 등 야초류는 현 상태에서 최대한 수거·이용하되, 사료가치를 유지하고 가축 기호성이 양호한 시기에 수확하는 것이 중요하며, 최소한 볏짚과 비슷하거나 그 이상의 사료가치를 기대하기 위해서는 7월 중순 이전(늦어도 7월까지)에 수확·이용하는 것이 권장된다. This study was carried out in 2010 to investigate the utilization and forage quality of native grasses, such as Phragmites communis which might reduce the cost of feeding domestic cattle. The regions surveyed were the Haenam ranch in Haenam, Pyeongchang, Wonju, and Yeonggwang. In Haenam, yearly silage production harvested from 300 ha was 2,000 MT (7 MT/ha). All of those round bale silages were self-consumed in that region, and marketing price was 50,000 55,000 won per roll (110 won/㎏). Phragmites communis of 150 ㎝ in length contained 8.4% crude protein (CP) with relative feed value (RFV) 71.9 and 60.1% in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD), which was somewhat more favorable than forage quality of rice straw. The silage quality of Phragmites communis varied greatly by the time of harvest (CP 4.7 6.4%, RFV 62.2 78.9, and IVDMD 41.9 53.9%), even with the same district and of the same original forage materials. Generally, the quality of Phragmites communis silage of was poorer than that of sorghum * sudangrass hybrid. In Pyeongchang, forage quality of Phragmites communis was decreased from 13.9% to 7.6% in CP, 90.7 to 76.1 in RFV, and 72.9% to 54.7% in IVDMD, as plant was getting mature, from 79 ㎝ to 117 ㎝, 121 ㎝ or to 142 ㎝ in length. In Wonju, the quality values of Phragmites communis of 130 ㎝ in length were 8.5% CP, 82.3 RFV and 70.2% IVDMD, while those of matured grasses of 220 ㎝ in length were lower (10.2% CP, 65.1 RFV and 48.9% IVDMD), but this was a little more favorable than quality of rice straw. In Yeonggwang, feeding Phragmites communis was tried in a Hanwoo feed, but stopped due to low profitability. In conclusion, the overall quality of most native grasses including Phragmites communis in this survey was poor. Therefore, we recommend that Phragmites communis and native grasses should be harvested on June or July to obtain richer forage quality in forage values than rice straw.

        Schwann cells(SCs), an important component of the peripheral nervous system, intract with nerous to mutually support growth and replication for the peripheral nerve regentation. Recently, ading SCs to the lumen of guidance channel is widely tried to improve regeneration or to make regeneration possible over otherwise irreparable gaps. however, it is not easy to isolate and multiplicate SCs as much as enough to help the axonal regeneration. For the allogeneic SCs source for tubular nerve guidance, we developed a little bit improved technique of harvesting and multiplicating SCs. by culturing dispersed dorsal root ganglia in specially designed medium with growth factors and serial processing, we repeatedlly generate relatively homogenous SC cultures. Our technique was compared with other methods of literature using immunostaining methods such as GFAP, S100, BDNF and the total SC count assessment at different time interval after primary culture.

        Exterior ballistics of a typical high-speed projectile is studied through a flow-visualization experiment and a compressible Navier-Stokes computation. Experiment produced a schlieren photograph that adequately shows the characteristic features of this complex flow, namely two kinds of oblique cone shocks and turbulent wake developing into the downstream. A hybrid scheme of finite volume-element method is used to simulate the compressible Navier-Stokes solution on an unstructured mesh. Osher's approximate Riemann solver is used for the convection term and Galerkin method is used for the viscous term. Fourth-order Runge-Kutta method is used for time-stepping. A two-layer k-ε turbulence model is used to simulate the turbulent wakes accurately. Axi-symmetric flow and two-dimensional flow with an angle of attack have been computed. 2-D calculation shows that effect of angle of attack is not severe. Axi-symmetric results of the computation agrees well with the flow visualization.

        단방성 법랑모세포증 환아에 대한 증례 보고

        단방성 법랑모세포종(Unicystic ameloblastoma)은 임상적, 방사선적 및 병리학적 소견과 치료방법 등이 법랑모세포종과 구별되어 따로 분류된 질환이다. 임상적, 방사선적으로는 치성낭종의 소견을 보이는 단방성 병소이며 조직학적으로 낭종의 소견과 함께 법랑모세포종의 소견을 보인다. 하악 구치부에 호발하며 악골에 무통성 종창을 야기할 수 있으나 대개는 무증상인 경우가 많고 대부분 미맹출치 치관을 둘러싼 방사선 투과성 병소로 나타나며 방사선적으로 함치성낭(dentigerous cyst)이나 잔류낭(residual cyst)과 유사하다. 조직학적으로 낭종상피의 법랑모세포종성 변화(luminal type), 낭종강 내 종양결절의 돌출(intraluminal type), 결합조직 내로 법랑모세포종 세포의 증식(mural type)등의 소견을 보인다. 본 증례는 좌측 안면부 종창을 주소로 내원한 8세 남자 환아에서 임상적, 방사선적 검사 후 낭종의 완전 적출술(enucle-ation)및 장골이식(iliac bone graft)을 시행하였으며 생검을 통해 단방성 법랑모세포종이라 확진되었고 양호한 치료 결과를 얻었기에 이에 보고하는 바이다. The unicystic ameloblastoma deserves separate consideration on the basis if its clinical, radiologic, and patho-logic features and its response to treatment. It refers to those cystic lesions that show clinical, radiographic, or gross features of a jaw cyst, but on histologic examination show a typical ameloblastomatous epithelium lining part of the cyst cavity. The lesion is most commonly found on the mandible posterior area, and often asympto-matic, although large lesions may cause a painless swelling of the jaws. The lesion typically appears as a cir-cumscribed radiolucency that surrounds the crown of an unerupted molar. These are usually considered to be a dentigerous, residual cyst on the relationship of the lesion to teeth in the area. Three histopathologic variants of unicystic ameloblastoma may be seen. 1) Luminal type, 2) Intraluminal type, 3) Mural type. In this case, these tumor was treated as cysts by enucleation with iliac bone graft, and the diagnosis of ameloblastoma is made after microscopic examination of the presumed cyst.

      • Panel Method를 이용한 임의의 3차원 형상에 대한 외부 유동장 해석

        The aerodynamic properties of airfoil, high-speed train, and three-dimensional simple symmetric body were analyzed by the panel method, that can be used in the initial stage of the design process. In subsonic flow, the method uses source and doublet strengths on the aorfoil shape, and solves pressure distribution and velocity on the node element of the airfoil shape. Also, in the case of high-speed train, the aerodynamic properties of the external flow of the train body which is on the ground or in the tunnel, were calculated with the image method. The results are well compared to the analytic solutions of 3-D flow around a spheroid. About the arbitrary three-dimensional shape of high-speed train, the aerodynamic properties were calculated in subsonic case. Pressure drop was largely affected by the discontinuous surface of the body.

        Superchargers are widely in use to enhance the power and torque characteristics of both Cl and Sl engines. Because they enable the engines to boost performance without increasing the engine displacements, they can contribute significantly to improvements of current emmision level of automobiles. Among several type of compressors used for superchargers, roots-rotor is the most-favored type among mass-produced vehicle models(especially in passenger car categories). We present results of a study on flow characteristics of a typical roots-rotor type supercharger. Numerical analysis on two dimensional flow between rotor and casing has been carried out and the results are interpreted to draw conclusions of superchargers.
