<P>Significant enhancement of solution-processed CuInxGa1-x(Se,S)(2) (CIGSSe) thin-film solar cell performance was achieved by inducing a band gap gradient in the film thickness, which was triggered by the chalcogenization process. Specifically, after the preparation of an amorphous mixed oxide film of Cu, In, and Ga by a simple paste coating method chalcogenization under Se vapor, along with the flow of dilute H2S gas, resulted in the formation of CIGSSe films with graded composition distribution: S-rich top, In- and Se-rich middle, and Ga- and S-rich bottom. This uneven compositional distribution was confirmed to lead to a band gap gradient in the film, which may also be responsible for enhancement in the open circuit voltage and reduction in photocurrent loss, thus increasing the overall efficiency. The highest power conversion efficiency of 11.7% was achieved with J(sc) of 28.3 mA/cm(2), V-oc of 601 mV, and FF of 68.6%.</P>

Technological advances in reconstructive surgery have aroused a wide spread reappraisal of anatomy and anatomical concepts. Mamy useful new flaps, such as the fasciocutaneous flap, have been introduced as a result. However subgaleal flaps have not been widely used, and there is little anatomical information published to guide tha surgeon in designing such a flap. The advantages of the subgaleal flaps are multiple pedicle, good vascularity and easier management, support the split and full thickness skin graft, thin and supple, gliding nature and minimal donor morbidity. The subgaleal flap has been used as an isolated flap in a variety of prospective cases such as defects or fractures of cranial floor frontal sinus or orbit, nasal or midface reconstruction, soft tissue contouring in massive facial trauma. We have used the subgaleal pericranial flaps in 3 cases with craniofacial fracutres or deformities and acquired satisfying results.

Objective: Several studies suggest that a low cholesterol concentration is associated with a greater than normal risk of mortality from suicide. The authors sought to determine whether a low cholesterol level is associated with a history of serious suicide attempts among drug ingested ED patients. Method: serum cholesterol levels of attempted suicide of 89 patients, aged 20-72 years, were obtained from the ED admission biochemical profiles. Results: The seriousness of suicide attempt was associated with low serum cholesterol concentration in all age subgroups. Conclusions: Low cholesterol concentration should be futher investigated as a potential biological marker of suicide risk.

무선 센서 네트워크는 기본적으로 교환이나 충전이 어려운 배터리로 동작하는 센서 노드들로 구성된다. 따라서 센서 노드들의 에너지 소모를 줄이는 MAC 프로토콜과 라우팅 기법이 무선 센서 네트워크에서 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 무선 센서 네트워크에서 에너지 효율적인 측면을 고려하여 제안되어 온 비동기 방식의 저전력 센서 MAC 프로토콜인 B-MAC과 X-MAC을 정리하고 NS-2 시뮬레이터에서 성능을 비교하였다.

Background: Acute non-variceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding (NVUGIB) is common problems at an emergency unit and it also remains associated with signifi cant morbidity and mortality. Making adequate risk assessment of patients with NVUGIB is important in this situation. Although there are well known score systems to help physicians allows an assessment at fi rst presentation, controversy also exists in clinical, biochemical variables on the risk of rebleeding, surgery and death. Methods: Retrospective analysis from prospectively maintained database was carried out in patients with NVUGIB who visited the emergency department of eight centers in Daegu-Kyungsang territories in Korea between 2011 and 2013. Variables associated with unfavorable outcome (rebleeding, surgery or angioembolization and death) were analyzed in order to identify predictors which make physicians predict prognosis of patients. Results: Out of 851 patients, 117 (11.0%) developed one or more unfavorable outcome : 79 (9.2%) had rebleeding, 35 (4.1%) needed surgery or embolization, 56 (6.5%) had in hospital mortality or morbidity. Clinical and endoscopic features of patients population are shown in Table 1. Regression analysis showed inadequate endoscopic treatment, BUN > 35mg/dl, and more than 3 pint transfusion as the only independent predictors of negative outcomes (Table 2).
Effect of Extracellular Matrix Membrane on Bone Formation in a Rabbit Tibial Defect Model

<P>Absorbable extracellular matrix (ECM) membrane has recently been used as a barrier membrane (BM) in guided tissue regeneration (GTR) and guided bone regeneration (GBR). Absorbable BMs are mostly based on collagen, which is more biocompatible than synthetic materials. However, implanted absorbable BMs can be rapidly degraded by enzymes<I> in vivo</I>. In a previous study, to delay degradation time, collagen fibers were treated with cross-linking agents. These compounds prevented the enzymatic degradation of BMs. However, cross-linked BMs can exhibit delayed tissue integration. In addition, the remaining cross-linker could induce inflammation. Here, we attempted to overcome these problems using a natural ECM membrane. The membrane consisted of freshly harvested porcine pericardium that was stripped from cells and immunoreagents by a cleaning process. Acellular porcine pericardium (APP) showed a bilayer structure with a smooth upper surface and a significantly coarser bottom layer. APP is an ECM with a thin layer (0.18–0.35 mm) but with excellent mechanical properties. Tensile strength of APP was 14.15 ± 2.24 MPa. In<I> in vivo</I> experiments, APP was transplanted into rabbit tibia. The biocompatible material was retained for up to 3 months without the need for cross-linking. Therefore, we conclude that APP could support osteogenesis as a BM for up to 3 months.</P>
