        In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

        Floristic characteristics of vascular plants and first distributional report of Pseudostellaria baekdusanensis M. Kim in Yongneup wetland protected area

        Yongneup wetland protected area, the only high moor in Korea, is a core area to conserve biodiversity. Even though the Yongneup wetland protected area is relatively small, various plant species are distributed in the Yongneup wetland protected area because it includes various habitats showing different environmental gradients. Vascular plants distributed in the Yongneup wetland protected area were identified as a total of 376 taxa that is composed of 73 families, 217 genera, 322 species, 3 subspecies, 44 varieties and 7 forms. For endangered plants designated by the Ministry of Environment, 5 species including Trientalis europaea var. arctica, Lilium dauricum, Halenia corniculata, Lychnis wilfordii and Menyanthes trifoliata were found and 34 taxa were confirmed to be distributed only in the mountainous wetland habitats. Regarding naturalized plants, a total of 11 taxa were distributed, but most of them were distributed in the areas where artificial interference has occurred. And in areas inside the wetlands that are relatively well preserved, 2 species of Bidens frondosa and Erigeron annuus were observed. In this study, the occurrence and distribution of Pseudostellaria baekdusanensis M. Kim, which was recently found in Mt. Baekdu and reported as a new species, were identified in the Yongneup wetland protected area. A wetland is a very vulnerable area to drastic environmental changes and damages to its ecosystem could cause the extinction of rare plant species which are distributed only in the wetlands. Therefore, it is mandatory that current status of the Yongneup wetland protected area is evaluated and actions to prevent rapid environmental changes are taken. Fourteen separate investigations were conducted in 2013 and another four in 2014, to evaluate current status of the Yongneup wetland protected area. These investigations have provided us the basic information for future actions of conservation and restoration.

        치간 삭제 후 불소 또는 수산화인회석 도포 시 재광화 및 탈회억제에 관한 연구

        치간 삭제 후 재광화 및 치아우식 예방법을 찾기 위한 노력의 일환으로 1.23% 인산화불소 젤 또는 5%, 10% 수산화인회석함유 페이스트를 치간 삭제된 법랑질 표면에 도포하였고, 그 후 젖산탈회용액으로 처리하였다. 법랑질 표면의 재광화 및 탈회 후 결정구조 변화를 주사전자현미경으로 관찰하고 칼숨, 인, 불소 함량 등의 변화를 energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy 로 분석해서 비교하였다. 치간 삭제 후 5%, 10% 수산화인회석함유 페이스트를 도포한 군에서 칼숨과 인 합량이 증가하였고, 1.23% 인산화불소 젤 도포 군에서는 불소 함량이 증가하였다. 또한 모든 재광화 제제에서 법랑질 표면이 매끄럽고 부드러워졌으며 결정구조가 작고 치밀해짐을 관찰할 수 있었다. 10% 수산화인회석합유 페이스트로 재광화한 군은 탈회 후에도 칼슐과 인 함량이 증가된 채로 유지되었고, 5% 수산화인회석합유 페이스트로 재광화한 군은 탈회 후 인 함량이 증가된 채로 유지되었다. 치간 삭제 후 탈회 처리 시 대조군의 법랑질은 파괴양상이 심해 거친 굴곡으로 이루어진 불규칙한 표면 상태를 나타내었으나 불소 및 수산화인회석으로 재광화한 군에서는 법랑질의 파괴양상이 적어 작은 결정입자들과 미세공극이 유지되었다. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of remineralization and inhibition to demineralization after fluoride gel (acidulated phosphate fluoride, APF) or hydroxyapatite (HAp) paste application on interdentally stripped teeth. Methods: After interdental stripping, 1.23% APF or 5%, 10% HAp paste were applied for 7 days for remineralization. Afterwards, teeth were exposed to lactate carbopol buffer solution for demineralization. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) were used to compare change in surface contents and crystal structures after remineralization, and then after demineralization. Results: EDS analysis indicated that calcium (p < 0.001) and phosphate (p < 0.01) contents were increased after 10% HAp paste application on stripped enamel, calcium (p < 0.05) and phosphate (p < 0.01) contents were increased after 5% HAp paste application, and fluoride (p < 0.01) contents were increased after 1.23% APF application. SEM image showed that enamel surfaces became smoother and crystal structures became small and compact after APF or HAp application. After demineralization, calcium (p < 0.05) and phosphate (p < 0.05) contents remained increased on the enamel remineralized with 10% HAp paste, and phosphate (p < 0.05) contents remained increased on the enamel remineralized with 5% HAp paste. After demineralization, surfaces looked less destroyed in the enamel remineralized beforehand than those of the control, and small pores between crystal structures, formed by remineralization were remained. Conclusions: Hydroxyapatite paste and fluoride gel were helpful to remineralize and inhibit deminerlization on stripped enamel.

        This study aims to compare the wife's stress, communication, families cohesion and adaptation in conjugal understanding in families living apart and general families. The study was conducted by analyzing questionnaires of 172 wives in families living apart and by analyzing 185 wives general families. The data were analyzed with the spss pc' statistical package using frequency, t-test and one-way ANOVA. The results of this study were as follow : 1. Stress in conjugal understanding in family living apart was higher than in general family. 2. Between conjugal understanding in family living apart and general family, there were significant difference in effort levels, family cohesion and communication. 3. Both in conjugal understanding in family living apart and in general family, low stress levels led to high family cohesion and family adaptation. 4. Both in conjugal understanding in family living apart and in general family, high communication levels led to high family cohesion and family adaptation.

      • 간질발작후 MRI 영상에서 뇌 종창을 보인 3예 보고

        We report seizure induced brain swelling in three patients. MRI revealed a cortical, subcortical(3/3), and basal ganglia(2/3) high signal intensity on T2- weighted and FLAIR images. The lesion shows low signal on T1-weighted image, and enhanced after contrast administration. Follow up study after 27 days in one case revealed complete resolution of the lesion. The reversible MRI findings may be the results of a local brain swelling, breakdown of blood-brain permeability, and a defect of cerebral autoregulation during seizure activity. The transient nature of such findings have to be considered in the differential diagnosis such as reversible ischemia, migraine, inflammation and infection.

      • 재발성 복부 통증을 호소한 환자에서 복벽에 발생한 자궁내막증 1예

        Endometriosis is the abnormal growth of endometrial tissue outside the uterine cavity. Endometriosis in the abdominal scar following cesarean section is very rare condition among the extrapelvic endometriosis. The frequency of abdominal wall endometriosis secondary to cesarean section is from 0.03% to 0.8% in some reports. It is difficult to diagnosed in spite of the typical symptoms. The typical symptom is aching swelling in the area of the surgical scar, which is influenced by the phases of menstruation. The definitive diagnosis is established by pathologic analysis. Surgical excision remains the treatment of choice. The majority of patients presented from 1 to 2 years after the precipitating operation. We experienced an unusual case of abdominal wall endometriosis presented over 10 years after cesarean section, who was admitted to our hospital complaining of recurrent left lower abdominal pain. So, we report this case with a brief review of the concerned literatures.

        법랑질 표면처리방법에 따른 치면열구전색재의 미세누출에 관한 비교연구

        최근 air-abrasion기술이 새로운 법랑질 표면처리법으로 소개되고 있는데, 이것이 산부식 처리한 것보다 치면열구전색 전처리에 있어 더 나은 결과를 보이는지 연구할 목적으로.저자들은 표면처리법 및 재료에 따른 미세누출도의 차이를 비교해 보고자 하였다. 9개의 군으로 나눈 시편치아에 산부식(1, 4, 7군). air-abrasion(2. 5, 8군). ail·-abrasion후 산부식(3. 6. 9군) 처리한 후, 3종의 치면열구전색재(1∼3군 : Teethmate-F.4∼6군 Ultraseal XT plus, 7∼9군 : DenSeal)로 전색, 중합하여 색소침투도를 관찰하였으며, 각 시편의 전색재를 분리, 주사전자현미경으로 관찰하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1 표면처리법에 따른 미세누출도는 air-abrasion군, 산부식군 air-abrasion 후 산부식군 순으로 작아졌다(p<0.05) . 단. 7군과 9군간의 유의차는 없었다. 2.미세누출도는 산부식군에서 7군, 4군, 1군, air-abl·asion군에서 8군, 5군, 2군, air-abrasion후 산부식군에서 9군, 3군. 6군 순으로 작아졌으나. 각각 4군과 7군 2군과 5군 3군과 6군간의 유의차는 없었다. 3. SEM상에서, 산부식군은 비교적 긴 레진돌기가 규칙적으로, air-abrasion군은 �裏�레진돌기가 불규칙적으로, air-abrasion후 산부식군에서는 이들이 혼재되어 있는 모습으로 관찰되었다. Recently, the reintroduction of air-abrasion technology in dentistry has added a new potential method of pre-treating teeth prior to placing sealants. The purpose of this in vitro study was to investigate microleakages of several pit and fissure sealants following various surface pre-treatment methods to the enamel , because there was a question concerning the validity of claim that this method was better than the conventional acid etching. Permanent molars were divided randomly into nine groups and treated accordingly: acid etching(group 1, 4, 7), airabrasion(group 2, 5. 8), acid etching after airabrasion(group 3, 6, 9). Then the authors placed and cured the three kinds of sealants(group 1∼3 : Teethmate-F, group 4∼6: Ultraseal XT plus, group 7~9: Denseal) according to the manufacturer's order. They were observed to determine the degree of microleakage . And these specimens were separated from the corresponding enamels and examined by Scanning Electron Microscope. The following results were obtained : 1. In comparing microleakage among tooth surface treatment methods. air-abrasion group (group 2, 5, 8) showed the greatest microleakage. while combination(air-abrasion + acid etching) group showed the least (p<0.05) . However, no significant differences were found between group 7 and 9. 2. The mean microleakages were ranked as follows(p<0.05) : In acid etching groups. group 7> group 4> group 1. In air-abrasive groups. group 8 > group 5 > group 2. In combination groups, group 9 > group 3 > group 6. However. no significant differences were found between group 4 and 7. between group 2 and 5, and be-tween group 3 and 6. 3. SEM showed that comparably longer resin tags were distributed regularly in acid etching groups and that shorter ones irregularly in airabrasion groups. It also showed that these two kinds of tags were distributed simultaneously in combination groups.

      • 생물변환 천연식용색소 생산공정기술 개발 : Ⅰ. 홍화 황색소의 안정성에 미치는 pH 및 온도의 영향 Ⅰ. Effect of pH and Temperature on the Stability of the Yellow Pigment from Carthamus tinctorious L.

        홍화로부터 열에 의한 안정성을 검토하였다. 황색소의 분해반응은 산성, 중성, 염기성 조건에서 UV/Vis spectral measurement에 의해 조사되었다. 시간변화에 다른 흡광도를 측정해 본 결과 온도가 상승함에 따라 황색소의 분해되는 정도가 점차적으로 증가하는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 40℃에서 황색소의 분해 반감기는 pH3.0, pH7.0, 그리고 pH12.0에서 각각 112.1, 39.3 과 25.3 시간이었다. 이것은 황색소가 pH3.0에서 비교적 더 안정함을 말한다. pH3.0, 7.0 그리고 12.0에서 황색소의 activation energy는 각각 519, 15.0 그리고 12.3 kJ/mol이었다 We investigated thermal stability of yellow pigment from Carthamus tinctorious L. Decomposition reactions of yellow pigment were monitored at acidic, neutral and alkaline conditions by UV/Vis spectral measurement. Decomposition of yellow pigment increased as temperature increased Decomposition half lives of yellow pigment at 40℃ were 112.1 39.3, and 25.3 hrs at pH 3.0 , pH 7.0, and pH 12.0, respectively, indicating that yellow pigment is more stable at pH 3.0. The activation energies of yellow pigment at pH 3.0, pH 7.0, and pH 12.0 were 51.9, 15.0, and 12. 3 kJ/mol, respectively.

      • 난소 갑상선종의 1예

        Struma ovarii is a mature cystic teratoma of the ovary. It is an uncommon tumor accounting for 2.7% of all ovarian teratomas and composed totally or in overwhelming proportion of thyroid tissues. When thyroid tissue constitutes more than 50% of the tumor, it is usually called a struma ovarii. Grossly, they are encapsulated, several centimeters in diameter and have a red, shiny, and meaty surface. Microscopically, the tumor is composed of mature thyroid tissue consisting of various sizes, lined by a single layer of columnar or flattened epithelium. The clinical behavior is benign and simple excision is adequate treatment. We have experienced a case of struma ovarii arising from the left ovary. So, we report this case with review of literatures.
