The Jun and Fos families of eukaryotic transcription factors form heterodimers capable of binding to their cognate DNA enhancer elements. We are interested in searching for inhibitors or antagonists of the binding of the Jun-Fos heterodimer to the activator protein-1 (AP-1) site. The basic-region leucine zipper (bZIP) domain of c-Fos was expressed as a fusion protein with glutathione S-transferase, and allowed to form a heterodimer with the bZIP domain of c-Jun. The heterodimer was bound to glutathione-agarose, to which were added radiolabeled AP-1 nucleotides. After thorough washing, the gel-bound radioactivity was counted. The assay is faster than the conventional electrophoretic mobility shift assay because the gel electrophoresis step and the autoradiography step are eliminated. Moreover, the assay is very sensitive, allowing the detection of picomolar quantities of nucleotides, and is not affected by up to 50% dimethylsulfoxide, a solvent for hydrophobic inhibitors. Curcumin and dihydroguaiaretic acid, recently known inhibitors of Jun-Fos-DNA complex formation, were applied to this Jun-GST-fused Fos system and revealed to decrease the dimer-DNA binding.

가시광선과 아르곤 레이저에 의한 복합레진 중합 효과의 비교 연구

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the shear bond strengths,microhardness,compressive strength and contraction gap at the resin-tooth interface of two types of composite resins polymerized with visible light and argon laser sourse. The results from the present study can be summarized as follows: 1.Resin sample polymerized either by argon laser or visible light did not show significant difference in their physical properities tested(p>.05). 2.The contraction gap at the resin tooth interface was found to be present in all samples but any significant difference between groups could not be established due to their variability.Although the superiority of argon laser over visible light in enhancing the physical properities of resin could not be elucidated in the present study,continous efforts are deemed to be worthwhile to investigate this using different conditions and materials of experiment.
위 MALT 림프종에서 다발성 림프절 전이로 오인된 동시성 림프절 결핵 1예

28세 남자가 내시경적 점막절제술을 통해 저등급 위MALT 림프종으로 진단되었다. 병기설정을 위해 18F-FDG PET 검사를 시행하였고 우측 쇄골상부, 우측상/하부 기관주위, AP window 부위에 강한 섭취가 관찰되어 전이성 림프절로 판단하였다. 그러나, 우측 쇄골상부 림프절에서 시행한 절제생검에서 만성육아종성염증소견이 관찰되었고 조직의 결핵 중합효소연쇄반응에서도 양성 반응을 보였다. 2개월간 항결핵제의 사용 후 시행한 추적 컴퓨터단층촬영 검사에서 림프절 크기의 감소를 보여 최종적으로 위 MALT 림프종에서 광범위 림프절 전이로 오인된 동시성 림프절 결핵으로 진단되었다. A 28-year-old man was diagnosed as gastric MALT lymphoma in diagnostic EMR (endoscopic mucosal resection). He subsequently underwent an 18F-FDG PET. 18F-FDG PET showed intense multifocal uptake in right supraclavicular, right upper and lower paratracheal, and AP window areas that was considered radiologically to represent widespread metastatic lymphadenopathy. Excisional biopsy of a supraclavicular lymph node, however, revealed chronic granulomatous lymphadenitis with a positive reaction of Tb-nested PCR. After antituberculosis treatment for 2 months, a follow-up CT scan showed complete resolution of the lesions. Intense 18F-FDG uptake could be due to an infectious process such as synchronous tuberculous lymphadenitis. Therefore, this could mimic a malignant condition such as lymphoma with extensive lymph node metastasis due to a false-positive finding, which may lead to a misdiagnosis.
아동의 문학이해능력 향상을 위한 웹 활용 인지적 도제학습 프로그램 개발

본 연구는 웹을 활용한 인지적 도제 학습 프로그램을 개발·적용하여 실제 아동의 문학이해능력에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 요구조사를 실시하여 프로그램의 목적을 설정하고, 목적에 따른 내용조직과 학습자를 분석한 후, 수업 모형과 평가방법을 개발하였다. 개발된 프로그램은 초등학교 4학년 한 학급을 선정하여 웹 활용 인지적 도제 학습 프로그램을 8주 동안 적용하여 그 효과를 사전·사후 검사를 통해 알아보았다. 연구 결과, 웹 활용 인지적 도제 학습 프로그램은 아동의 문학이해능력에 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 특히 문학이해 능력의 하위요소 중 ‘구성 이해력’, ‘주제 이해력’에서 보다 긍정적인 영향을 보였다. 후속 연구로, 다른 학년의 아동들을 대상으로 확장된 웹 커뮤니티를 이용한 연구나, 문체 등의 다른 문학요소와의 관계를 규명하는 연구가 이루어지도록 제언하였다. The purpose of this study was the developing a Web-based cognitive apprenticeship instruction program for advancing the literature understanding. competence. And to identify what impacts of this program have on the literature understanding, after applying the program to 33 fourth graders at M Elementary School in Seoul. For this purpose, the survey was carried out on teachers and pupils, in order to find out the recognition of literature understanding, difficulties in a literature understanding. After survey, the objective of this program has been established based on the 7th Korean language curriculum. And then a Web-based cognitive apprenticeship instruction program was developed by using fairly tale themes, which are friendly to children, in order to improve children’s literature understanding competence. This program was applied to 18 sessions of classes during 8 weeks. As a results, the Web-based cognitive apprenticeship instruction program is effective to the improvement of literature understanding. In particular, the two elements, composition understanding and theme understanding, showed more significant differences than character understanding, among three sub-elements, when the pre and post evaluation results were compared. In conclusion, the research suggests the development of teaching method for web-based literature program and in practice lead to the actual improvement of the pupils' literature understanding competence.

Background and Objectives: We previously reported that, compared with standard cardiopulmonary resuscitation(S-CPR), better hemodynamic effects could be achieved by simultaneous sterno-thoracic cardiopulmonary resuscitation(SST-CPR) in which we compressed the sternum and constricted the thorax circumferentially during the systolic period by using a device. This study was designed to assess whether SST-CPR, compared with S-CPR, improve the survival rate of dogs with cardiac arrest. Subjects and methods: Twenty-five mongrel dogs(19∼31㎏) were enrolled in this study. After four minutes of ventricular fibrillation induced by an AC current, animals were randomized to resuscitate with either S-CPR(n=13) or SST-CPR(n=12). Epinephrine(1 ㎎) was injected into the right atrium every three minutes after the beginning of CPR. Defibrillation was attempted after 6 minutes of CPR. Standard advanced cardiac life support was started if defibrillation was not successful. Results: SST-CPR resulted in significantly(p<0.001) higher systolic arterial pressure(91±47 vs 47±24 ㎜ Hg), diastolic pressure(43±24 vs 17±10 ㎜ Hg), coronary perfusion pressure(35±25 vs 13±9㎜ Hg), and end tidal CO2 tension(9±4 vs 3±2 ㎜ Hg). Two of 13 animals(15 %) resuscitated with S-CPR and six of 12 animals(50%) resuscitated with SST-CPR survived until 12 hours after cardiac arrest(p<0.05). Donclusion: SST-CPR, compared with S-CPR, improves the short-term survival rate in canine cardiac arrest.
