The synthesis of biologically active 1H-1,4-diazepines 4a-d and 3H-1,5-benzodiazepines 5a-d in good yields, from the heterocyclization reaction of 2-(4-methylthio benzenesulfonyl)-1,3-dimethyl/1-methyl-3-phenyl/1,3-diphenyl/1-methyl-3-ethoxy propane-1,3-dione 3a-d with ethylenediamine (EDA) and o-phenylenediamine (o-PDA), respectively, in the presence of silica sulfuric acid (SSA) is described. The novel ${\beta}$-diketones/${\beta}$-ketoesters 3a-d were synthesized by the condensation reaction of 4-methylthiobenzenesulfonyl chloride 1 with various ${\beta}$-diketones/${\beta}$-ketoesters 2a-d. All structures of the newly synthesized compounds were elucidated by elemental analysis and spectral studies. The compounds 4a-d and 5a-d have been screened for antimicrobial, antifungal and anthelmintic activity. Molecular sieving carbon (MSC) for separating $O_2-N_2$ and $CO_2-CH_4$ has been prepared through chemical vapor deposition (CVD) of methane and benzene on activated carbon spheres (ACS) derived from polystyrene sulfonate beads. The validity of the material for assessment of molecular sieving behavior for $O_2-N_2$ and $CO_2-CH_4$ pair of gases was assessed by the kinetic adsorption of the corresponding gases at $25^{\circ}C$. It was observed that methane cracking on ACS lead to deposition of carbon mostly in whole length of pores rather than in pore entrance, resulting in a reduction in adsorption capacity. MSC showing good selectivity for $CO_2-CH_4$ and $O_2-N_2$ separation was obtained through benzene cracking on ACS with benzene entrantment of $0.40{\times}10^{-4}\;g/ml$ at cracking temperature of $725^{\circ}C$ for a period of 90 minutes resulting in a selectivity of 3.31:1.00 for $O_2-N_2$ and 8.00:1.00 for $CO_2-CH_4$ pair of gases respectively.

This paper reflects about Rural Tourism Planning and infrastructure development in remote areas of Uttrakhnad. The intended objectives of rural tourism is to control rural migration, create new livelihood option for the villagers, and Conservation & Restoration of the Temple precincts when integrated with other facilities like the approach road and sanitation and services as part of the concerned subproject proposal, is to develop this area as an attractive destination for cultural and rural tourism. Under this Project, thrust will be to promote village tourism as the primary tourism product to spread tourism and its socio-economic benefits to rural and new geographic regions. Key geographic regions have been identified for development and promotion ofRural Tourism. The implementation would be done through a Convergence Committee headed by the District Magistrate. Activities like improving the natural environment, hygiene, socio-economic status, infrastructure etc. would be eligible for assistance.

<P>Ag-BaMoO4 co-doped with Er3+/Yb3+ microcrystals were synthesized by the microwave hydrothermal process. The crystal structures and particle morphology were observed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), respectively. XRD patterns indicate the tetragonal scheelite structure of BaMoO4. Elemental composition was analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra, Raman spectra and photoluminescence spectra were analyzed by UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and photoluminescence spectroscopy, respectively. Two strong green emission peaks (526 nm and 554 nm) and a weak red emission peak (661 nm) were identified, which were associated to the H-2(11/2) -> I-4(15/2), S-4(3/2) -> I-4(15/2) and F-4(9/2) -> I-4(15/2) transitions of the Er3+ ions, respectively. Moreover, two photonic processes were observed. The surface plasmon resonance (SPR) with upconversion luminescence behavior of the Ag-BaMoO4: Er3+/Yb3+ samples were clearly described.</P>

<P>BaMoO4, co-doped with Er3+, Yb3+ and K+, microcrystals were synthesized by the microwave hydrothermal process. The crystal structure and particle morphology were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), respectively. The XRD pattern revealed the tetragonal scheelite structure of BaMoO4. In addition, octahedron microcrystals around 0.5-2 mu m were found by SEM analysis. Compositional analysis and the chemical states of the samples were analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra and luminescence properties were also analyzed by UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and photoluminescence spectroscopy. Two strong green emission peaks (526 nm and 554 nm) and one weak red emission peak (661 nm) were observed, which are related to the H-2(11/2) -> I-4(15/2), S-4(3/2) -> I-4(15/2) and F-4(9/2) -> I-4(15/2) transitions of the Er3+ ions, respectively, under 980 nm (CW) laser diode excitation. The green upconversion luminescence intensity was enhanced two times with the KCl addition.</P>
